So has this unlocked early for anyone else in Australia? For some reason it has unlocked for me despite the store page saying.
I haven't tinkered with any VPN's or anything of the sort, although I did get my key from GMG if that has any relevance. Should I be at all concerned for my account?
:O

I'm in the UK, but the unlock time is the same (1 day 2 hours) - restarting Steam now to see if mine will unlock early

Edit: nope, still locked :(

Is co-op on PC working yet?

Dont think it is yet. I'm glad they are aware, but I really hope they also notice things like no text chat when using a gamepad. Small, but helps in the long run, when you cant do voice chat.

Hoping for a patch a day, as well as one that opens the AA/AF settings in the menu. Maybe even FOV. They better get online straight before the EU/AU launch.

I freaking LOVE breaking the arms a a big thug and watching him try to swing at me only to lunge and have his arms flail enough the air. Loving the single player so much.

What did the 1.1 patch do?

I just discovered this is how you fight the thug. They would always do mega damage to me before. Brilliant.

The PC version of this game is the second game ever in my experience to suffer from one of the most annoying bugs to troubleshoot. First game was Warhammer Online.

I live in Finland, but use English language on all my software, including my Windows 7. If, however, I choose to set the regional setting (dates times etc.) to 'Finnish' all the names of dates and months appear in Finnish in my otherwise all English operating system. I hate that. If I choose 'English' for my regional settings, all that is correct, but things like dates and times in numeral format are displayed wrong (12h clock, mm/dd/yyyy) and I hate that. Also things like currency format ($1,000 versus 1 000 €) get fucked up. My solution was to set it to 'English' but then manually edit them to reflect how they are supposed to be in Finland. Works fine all everything but Warhammer Online (played it for a week, so no issue) and Dead Island.

What is the bug, you ask? Interface buttons like the ones in all menus (Start, Load, Options...) don't show up at all and the fucking mouse doesn't work. At all.

Yay!

Can you turn off all the pop up info like damage or that weird info box on zombies?

inforzom.jpg

The weird info box is telling you about a weapon stuck in the zombie's body. You can pick it up and equip it.

As for the damage ticks, find it in your options. You can turn most of it off.

I asked this before I didn't get a very clear answer so I thought I'd ask again. With analog controls you can target specific body parts like breaking arms, can you do that on the PC version with M/KB even though it doesn't have analog?

I should also point out that the PS3's save files are copy-locked, so you can't even keep a backup in case of save file corruption (unless you use the PSN Plus cloud service).

I don't know what to say....it seems logical...did they ever testet their product?

I think everyone here can make good use of this:

They actually give real responses.

As for KB/M controls, yes you can target certain body parts, but its really just by aiming and swinging to make contact with that specific part. The special thing about analog controls isnt really targeting certain body parts, just that you hold the left trigger to ready your weapon, and then use the right analog stick to act as your arms.

Just makes the combat feel a little more involved.

At what point do you need to start using weapons instead of just kicking everything to death?

When you start encountering 6 zombies in close quarters/stronger zombie types.

Um, right away? Kicking takes forever to put enemies down. I do about 36 damage with a kick right now as opposed to my 350+ weapon damage. Yeah, you COULD go kick everything to death, but it would fucking take forever. I barely have the patience to loot all the bullshit laying everywhere, much less take the time to kick everything to death.

Steam forums are kind of a mess right now... some basic questions...

Is this game playable yet ?

Decent performance?

Is this game Borderlands comparable (friend mentioned he found them similar)?

Bah, the save problems also hitting 360 people.
I hope the "Day 1" (whenever this is) patch is addressing this, the changelog mentioned something about how savegames will be differently handled.

Yes to all 3 aside from possible co-op issues.

You can. It seems to be harder and/or less intuitive, but it is possible.

Ok, so not being able to do anything from the "Game Lobby" Screen except enable Facebook notifications (or whatever) -- Is this by design or a bug (PS3)?

It's beyond annoying to not be able to switch back into single player mode without quitting first. Just having the game run on Playstation Network makes it go slow as hell. But I want to enable PSN when my friends are online.

I haven't had this issue. Whenever I leave a multiplayer game it loads me back at my last checkpoint. Just drop out of the game.

One last one. Fairly challenging on the highest difficulty option? One problem I have with games like this is even with high difficulty the game kind of falls apart the moment you stock pile a a decent amount of supplies.

Wow i can't believe this. Reminds me of Gothic 3.
It's so sad because it could be the best zombie game of all time ....without it's problems.

btw: Sold this game on amazon this evening. I'm kind of sad because I loved it.

No options, it adjusts based on your level. Its fairly challenging at times, easy at others.

Its not really wasted if its something that may never happen to you (or happen again). If anything, dont you keep your character, and can just start at the latest chapter? Or does it kill your entire save?

It doesn't really make sense that they need more server capacity. I don't know, I feel like a lot of the information they're putting out is getting spun pretty heavily.

Surely another month until fixing/verification. By then, I'm roaming Arkham City, Battlefields and whatnot.

60 bucks wasted. :(
You can't play Dead Island after you play those other games? It's either play it right now or never?

Here is my theory on the problems involving the PS3 version.

When people say they are losing their saves, I did some testing. I joined a random person's game then quit. I played my game and unlocked 2 trophies (but they did not show up on PSN). I then quit the game and reloaded and it took me back to before I unlocked my trophies. I then repeated this step 2 more times with the same results. On the 3rd time, I loaded my game and unlocked the 2 trophies (while not joining anybody else's game) and voila, they popped up on PSN.

It's as if the corrupted data is set once you leave another person's game and will "un-corrupt" once you reload your game. I hope that makes sense.

Edit: I would advise you to quit your game and reload if the trophy unlocks in the game but doesn't unlock on PSN.

The glitch goes from "only" resetting your progress partly, to glitching your profile (retaining your level, but resetting all other stats like XP) or worst case, completely corrupting your whole save.

Mostly time constraints. Don't get me wrong, but how many would have bought DI at the end of October, with simultaneous releases like Arkham City, Battlefield 3, Uncharted 3 etc.?

I never played co-cop and it destroys my savegame, so i think it happens totally random.

Evolved1

make sure the pudding isn't too soggy but that just ruins everything
The PS3 game save bug is... eh... they need to fix this immediately.

Papercuts

fired zero bullets in the orphanage.
Analog fighting the thugs is incredible. I've been really impressed with the combat overall. Even shit weapons like the paddle has good reach and is good for breaking bones.

I've never played a game before where I've been defeated by a set of stairs.

I had to go down some to get to a side quest area, and because this game has some borked physics/collision detection I'm currently trapped. I try to move up and she moves soooo slow, like she's carrying 5 people and then when I get near the top I slide back down to the bottom.

I'm speechless...

So ive been playing with the settings a bit and im having some issues

apparently after focing v-sync wether through the nvidia control panel or the video settings file, i get this weird stuttering whenever im moving. Like if the game tries to catch up with the tearing but it ends up making this stutter constantly..

FRAPS shows me constant 60fps (if i force v-sync, otherwise its like 300-something) but the game runs choppy while walking for example.

Any ideas?

I saw that happen in a stream I was watching. Someone was trapped in a downstairs bathroom and couldn't get out. Eventually it just worked. Took them about 10 minutes though.

I suggest trying to move up the stairs in a different way, like jumping, sideways, backwards, etc and see if that helps.

You think that's bad? I've kicked a beachball and died...twice

So, twice now I've accepted quests only to have them not show up in my quest log or on my minimap.

The first is the quest to find the plane in the jungle.

The second is the quest after you escort Nikolai to the bunker to go bring something to his friend in a restaurant. Something about his satellite phone.

Okay I lost three hours due to this save data issue. This is just unacceptable on every level. It's not like there's a minor glitch here or there. Two days after launch there should not be more than one patch in queue.

I am not playing this game until this save glitch is fixed. What a shame the game was fun too.

Yeah I was doing everything for about the same amount of time as the other guy. Eventually when I jumped the game kind of spazzed out and shot me like 20 feet in the air into a fence. Whatever works I guess.

spawn inside a building with only one door. zombie is at the door. after i break it, the zombie continues the beating on door animation and i can't get out. restarted another character, fell under map. i thought it was all just talk man.
