rage mode. makes you stronger or whatever.

so I tried to play co-op but it's broken on PC. nice.

Do you have to "trigger" rage mode? I've seen the yellow bar decreasing when hitting the running zombies, but they still run at me *o*

I don't mind the respawning zombies but it's the respawning "events" that have me a little irked.

Like I came across a zombie beating on a door to some shed, looked like a fitting room and when I killed it and opened the door another zombie flew out into me. Scared the shit out of me.

Then I play again later and I come across the same place and run into the same thing happening. It makes me feel like I'm not really doing anything since almost everything is just getting replaced when I reload.

Well that sucks.

Also, why do people say coop is broken? That's the main reason for my purchase.

I dunno what is so messed up about my steam version, but I can't get it to run with any sort of quality. I can run Witcher 2 on high settings, but when I boot this up, with EVERYTHING on low, I get insane diagonal white lines going through every interior environment, and my frame-rate won't go above 15. It gets even worse when I strafe, but if I am running forward, it seems to work better. Not to mention that the lag in the mouse when I am in the menus is almost unbearable. At the top menu, it runs smooth and the mouse movement is spot on, but the second I load up, it's a nightmare.

I even went so far as to uninstall on steam and re-install, and create a new character (I was only a few hours in, so no big deal).

My framerate wasn't the greatest before this "patch" but it was at least playable, and I had the settings on high. Now, post patch, I have it on low, and can't even play it.

I am loving this game from what I could play, I just pray that this "patch" they put out isn't the final one, because if so, my Dead Island experience might be fucked. :(

The whole "Go into Fury mode" thing has me a bit confused. I don't know what the visual cue is when I get Fury, or how to activate it. (PS3 version.) I thought I just hit a button (circle) when it became active, but nothing happened.

I'm also regretting my decision to use the firearms chick. I found one gun early on, but I can't even use it until I hit level 10. (6 right now.) And I'm not crazy about her skill tree. I'm tempted to start over but I've already put in a good 6 hours into this. Blah.

YOU WILL KNOW LOL

She brings out her personal gun, and you get to shoot fools! Very nice and the skill tree has nice stuff like set enemies on fire,

you need maxed fury gauge and HOLD DOWN circle not just press it, its very obvious when its triggered as the view totally changes and highlights enemies in red

Note you must have a point in Fury to be able to use it

Got my digital artbook and "map" from amazon for preordering

the artbook is gorgeous

the map is just for that tiny starter island LOL. fail.

I don't know what it is about zombie games, my wife HATES the loud noises of melee whacks and groans.

so am waiting for her to leave house, as I refuse to play without nice loud sound LOL

No that isn't what the yellow bar is. The yellow bar is your experience meter. The rage mode meter is the circle that goes around the fist.

Also the fist will flash a little when your rage mode is ready to activate. You have to make sure that you have a skill point in your rage tree in order to use it. When it is ready you just hold down the B button. Assuming you are on the 360 version of course.

Yeah I popped it in for the first time last night, played just the prologue, and then immediately jumped into a co-op game with friends. It's definitely fun to gang up on zombies, but I must admit I had no clue what the hell was going on, where we were going, or why. The compass markers appeared intermittently, but since I didn't know what quest we were doing, I just followed everyone else. Quest givers would give me the "Hey thanks" speech, then follow up with "I'm still waiting for you to do X". I also kept getting the message "THIS QUEST WILL NOT BE WRITTEN TO YOUR PROFILE" which doesn't sound promising. Honestly I think I'd want to re-start alone and jump into co-op later, to help lower level folks. Not sure how to break it to my co-op pals though. Maybe I'll just do two playthroughs.
Yup, basically what happened for me. my friends just kept running around and accepting quests, and we'd run off and do something and I'd have no idea why or what the heck was going on. With no system in place that at least requires all players to accept a quest together or be present while quest-relevant dialogue is being said, it makes everything feel a bit disorganized.

I don't like doing quests without at least some sort of context or story motivation for doing them, even if the story is pretty light in the game to begin with.

Regardless, my main complaint with the game remains the lack of a better system for handling player deaths than just taking the lazy route and offering unlimited respawns. A cue from other co-op games like L4D, Lost Planet 2, or Gears of War would've been much better for keeping some tension while flying through missions.

If I even mention Borderlands around my friend's wife, she gets so heated for the very same reasons. So this past weekend I made a point to mention the sequel in front of her to my friend just to be a dick.

make sure the pudding isn't too soggy but that just ruins everything
Um... why is the sound so fucked up and choppy on PS3?

It does require you to be present for main quests. It will have a red circle around the area all players need to be. Side quests though it does not.

Also, there is a penalty for dying. It's just like Borderlands where you lose a percentage of your money. It's just hard to notice unless you are paying attention. Although I do agree that the penalty should be higher.

Old notes.

Servers are still down. No FOV or any other options to be seen. Not sure what we got here. My best guess is its a patch to fix problems when connecting online, and they have not yet flipped the switch back on.

So the people saying that there would be another patch by Friday release are right?

I thought as much (hopefully).

Dead Island arrived from Gamefly yesterday and i've only put about an 30-45 minutes into it but the game doesn't seem like it's for me, it seems rather "pointless" and empty of interesting things, a large island full of zombies and an abundance of fetch quests.

I always want games to be more than they are though. With this so far, i wish it was more strategy focused around the survivors and the buildings you hold out for. I felt Borderlands was pretty pointless too, especially playing multiplayer with other people, usually I'd just be running around never really knowing what or why i'm involved in the quest but just shooting junk with people. Dead Island with someone hopping into my game felt more or less the same, especially with them taking all the weapons so i had to beat zombies with broom handles...

Game is running slightly better for me but it always ran good for 30 minutes and then random freezes would start until I restart the game, will see if it happens again.

Still no multi player though...

So you know...I play the Ps3 Version (as I said earlier)...but...this is it... sorry, I'm done with Techland and I'm done with this bug sh*t.

Played 'til chapter 10 (Act 3) today...autosave...

started my Ps3 minutes ago.

Last save: Chapter 7 (Act 2)

No weapons saved
No sidequests saved
No mainquests saved

so I lost...let me think....8 hours today because of this buggy crap.

I'm done.

My last product from Techland.

edit: Level saved, Level stats: deleted

It says: Level 20 , EP : 0

Yeah.. I feel like there's 0% sense of progress in this game. Things seem to reset, zombies come back to life, and they level up with you. Am I missing something?
