Dead or Alive 5 Last Round PC Information is Finally out

Use ifranview or photoshop to downsample high resolution screenshots to a more common resolutions like 1920x1080 or 2560x1440.

And I think the game looks pretty good at times, especially the character models. I mean its last gen origins are clear in the environments but it's not a bad looking game by any means.

Shocked it has no achievements though, I mean they already exist and every other Japanese pc port seems to get them.

Where did you find that mod? Or did you create it yourself?

I saw the picture on FreeStepDodge but I can do that easily as I was did some recolors last night.

Tutorials for the texture mods.

Cant believe people are defending the PC release, the PS4 vs PC comparison shots above easily show crap PC particles and overuse of bloom. If others are fine with that then who am i to argue but i think its shoddy to say the least.

I can get PS3 version with online for 10euro pre owned or PC version for 36euro on steam Hmmmm

best quote of the day. pc version may not have all them special next gen particles (since you know, next gen is all about them and not AF, AA, or even better textures than last gen), but it has the MUCH better image quality with AF and AA. Incomplete port maybe, bad port? hell no. its a farcry from a bad port.

DOA5 is in that weird intermediary state between a bad port and a good port.
The game is well-optimized and can run on any computer that can run a MOBA. In that sense it's a good port.
But according to the Steam forums the controller support is awful, with XInput controllers not being mapped correctly and in the worst case preventing players from even entering the main menu. In that sense it's a bad port.
So it's kinda good but it's not, kinda broken but it's not, and I dunno.

I don't have the game but I hope to pick it up if it goes on sale.

From what I gather 360 controller works fine but Xbox One doesn't. The PS3 controller works decently surprisingly and can be mapped to fix some minor errors with the mapping.(Works perfectly via MotionJoy)

From what I gathered the 360 controller works fine...and nearly all other XInput controllers don't, lol.
Does MotionInJoy's default XInput mapping work or are there issues with that as well?

Default works perfectly which is what Im using atm.

No offense intended (I know you really are trying) but even at 8k it looks conspicuously ugly. How can anyone defend this trash of a port is beyond me. I hope it does reasonably well on PC to warrant further support but honestly I don't think this deserves a single $/€.
What were Tecmo thinking ?

...what else did you expect? It's a port of an old PS360 game. The missing features are annoying, but the game was never supposed to look much better than that.

What were you thinking it would look like? It's a 4 year old game made for 8 year old hardware.

Damn, some of these mods are making me sorely tempted to try out PC DOA. Sounds like a bit of a hit and miss port though.

Yes, on time on Windows 7, I log off the user session.

Are you using any kind of overclocking/monitoring software. I usually run EVGA Precision but I haven't noticed this happening when it's not running. That being said, I could have changed something else but I'm not sure what.

It doesn't look any worse than the current gen version.

thats not really what i was trying to say, the development effort is in particles, lighting in terms of bloom. Adding AA, AF is little to no effort as it can be forced in CCC or Nvidia CP, you can do that with any game except AA in deferred lighting games and in which case downscaling is the answer.

They may have added higher resolution textures/ported the textures from PS4/Xbox One but from any of the images posted the ground textures look awful( and textures on some characters when zoomed in like the hat - http://i.cubeupload.com/dVSjwn.png ).

Its in essence the definition of a bad port, doesnt mean the game itself isint fun but using technically "free" PC options to make the game look better doesnt cut it. If there didnt exist the latest gen versions with additional graphical features then i dont think there would be a problem, but charging the same for the PC version is a joke.

Nope, just MSI Afterburner but is wat not enabled.
It happen when i wanted launch game in 3840x2160. I put this resolution manually on Control Panel Nvidia (wihtout DSR ) and the game says Error VRAM. With DSR enabled is working...

But it's possible it's a driver bug. I had updated my GPU yesterday.

Anyway, a preset sweetFX i made (not finish)

I'm very interested in your SweetFX preset. I would love to have it when you are done and like to know how you set it up.

I need this

Its just weiird PR on ultimate weird level

i got DO5LR on PS4; it looks almost like my ps3 DOAU just in 1920x1080p

they should not public info about port because there is nothing to compare and almost NONE would notice; information like this proably shut off 50% sales for no reason;

just my 5 cent

and im Tekken player; just dont understand public information about PC port when PS3 vs PS4 is almost same

One thing I actually find curious: in the comparison shots that were posted on the Steam forums, the PC version's textures actually look better than the PS4's. IMO the PS4's look exactly like the PS3's textures with a crappy sharpening filter applied, in those shots at least.

Now, perhaps the shots were cherry picked, but I found it kind of curious.

Wow, nicely done. Hitomi looks cute as hell there.

From what I've seen, I agree with you. I would say it would be weird that TN didn't announce that PC had higher res textures than PS4, but there's no reason to assume that their lack of communication was exclusively for the shit features of the port; they didn't seem to advertize even the good points of this game. o well

I should stop browsing Steam forums and this thread because people's graphics mods are making me sad that i didn't jumped on the prepurchase discount. :x

Please elaborate on this. I'm asking because the particles don't show up in any screenshot (be it PC or PS4).

On lots of stages, there are new particle effects during explosions. In the PS4/XB1 version, when you land a critical burst, there is a new effect with particles.

The particle effects are much better in PS4 release than the PC release. The PC release uses the Arcade (PC based)/PS3 version particle effects. However, the Image Quality (SSAA and AF) more than makes up for it, IMO.

EDIT: Beaten

damn! That looks more like what I would expect for a next gen DOA. The Hitomi pic especially looks so good.

I found a SweetFX preset that I'm in love with. It looks much better now. However, I did have to turn up the brightness a little. It is a little too dark at first. A ton of people downloaded it so I had to try it out and I don't regret it one bit. It made me a believer in SweetFX.

http://sfx.thelazy.net/games/preset/3315/
I'm testing the 4k variation of that one.

In the comparison pics you can see a drastic difference between the two but all I get is an increase of saturation. Am I missing some options? I load the preset just fine and turn it on and off in game. The sharpness doesn't seem to be working.

Edit: Got it working with Reshade + sweetfx. Strange...

It's for people who understand the distinction between a port and what the original game consisted of.

Just tried your preset. I think it's the best one so far. Good job mate, it looks very nice.

I like the haze reduction of the sweetfx profiles, but the sharpness, saturation, and contrast of the entire environment is excessive and not worth the trade off. I'd like to try my own profile that uses maybe a fraction of what's been posted and see if it helps.

Eventually if possible, having the ability to modify individual textures like the ground to be higher resolution or trees to be a bit more saturated while not blowing out the sky would be the only way I'd modify the look of the game. Besides, playing upscaled with added AA etc looks fantastic as it stands for how old the source material is.

Anyone having issues hitting diagonals in this game? Either I'm totally crap at it or my PS3 controller (with SCP driver) doesn't seem to hit any diagonal action most of the time. Trying the tutorials it seems to register down-left or down-right instead of the diagonal the game wants.

But not for people expecting the minimum from a PC version anno 2015 apparently.
Wonderful job Tecmo.

I agree Tecmo did handle this port poorly especially from a PR standpoint. Despite the missing features, I'm really impressed with how this game runs on PC. The SweetFX presets makes this game look a lot better than the PS4 despite missing 2 stages, particle effects, skin shader with subtle SSS (during closeups), and one of the breast physics options, IMO. That has to count for something. Yes, this port doesn't have online yet, but I'm still having fun with it.

There are a bunch of more questionable fuck ups they did than the visuals, like people mentioned, it's a 2012 PS3 / arcade game, it will always look like a 2012 PS3 / arcade game.

If they redid most of the assets for current gen consoles, and then the PC got the PS3 version assets (which has happened to KT games in the past), it would be worth talking about. As it stands, PC doesn't have the soft skin engine and it doesn't have particle effects, but even on PS4 these things don't magically make the game look amazing, and PC ver certainly looks better than PS4 version for the most part.

KT / TN are assholes for various reasons, the 'bad graphics' aren't one of them.

On a side note, I wonder if the skin shader engine would have actually made texture mods more difficult if there are additional maps like SSS. I guess we'll never know. :-:
ReShade + SweetFX is a pretty nice combo. I'm happy with the results.
Looking forward to higher res texture mods, the wet skin effect really needs it.

Either this guy is trolling, or is completely ignorant.

I don't know which.
