Dead Rising Deluxe Remastered | Review Thread

Yeah that's what people are doing.

Stop telling fans of the OG this new 'demaster' is the same as the original, there isn't anything different, there isnt any bearing on gameplay etc blablabla

Not aimed at you but clowns who keep telling people to shut up.

If you want to consume and move onto the next product like a zombie be my guest.

That doesn't mean we can't voice our opinions.

The only reason I actually want to buy this shitty product is to make a video essay of why it's so trash
But then I'd have to purchase a censored product. Ugh
There are people who enjoy both versions. Get over it.

Where did I say you can't enjoy both versions? Your fine to enjoy either version.

Don't tell others what to enjoy or what not to complain about.

People who say "stop crying about censorship" need to shut the fuck up, regardless.

On Case 4 at the moment, feels good to be taking a stroll through the mall with Frank again. As far as I can tell, new voices (voice actor for Frank is just fine), no scantily clad zombies or erotica shots (whatever). Normally I don't like censorship kind of changes but the zombies that got cut wasn't enough for me to give a fuck and take me away from the core experience which is identical to what I would have had playing the original.

I tried the original when it was ported last gen but couldn't get into it. I don't even remember why, not counting a few specific memories of survivors just doing nothing. But I don't quite remember why else it didn't hook me, so I'm willing to try the new version. Shame about the censoring, but maybe the new controls are what I needed to get into the game.

The redesign of Frank and the de-saturation of the whole game is what is putting me off getting this, that and the censorship. I mean, I can live without the removal of the erotic shot stuff, but on principle I am against censorship in any form so feel the need to make a point of not getting this and stick to my principles.

Been really enjoying it and close to getting all Steam achievements. Played the original on Xbox 360 back in the day: was one of my first 360 games, but never played it after those first few weeks of releasing in 2006. This version seems much easier because the AI is no longer brain dead and there are some quality of life improvements (e.g. move while aiming, fast forward time, etc). It still feels like an older game, which isn't necessarily a bad thing in today's age. Shame about some of the censorship changes. Hoping they remake DR2 or OTR as I never played those.

Was not thinking of any reason to get the game but you mentioning that they actually reworked the ai for the people you have to escort is reeealy making me consider getting it

Frank looks 20 years older. What's that all about? How old was he supposed to be in the original? He was a bit of young beef cake. Do they do this to target the players that got old meanwhile?

I really enjoyed the original back on 360. Might grab this for the graphical update and better A.I. Is the PC version up to scratch?

Actually the zombies are way less agressieve so its not really the survivor Ai being better, just that the zombies wont attack as often

If they remake off the record they would need to censor even more as the game is filled with sexual innuendo. Which is obviously bad.

I picked this up and played it this weekend, I had it back in the day but I never really played it much. I just wondered if people thought a perfect run was an aim worth pursuing or if it's more a case of trying to get different experiences with different runs?

Does this game require a guide to get the "best ending" on your first play through?

Considering picking it up.

I runs absolutely fine on my PC.

I picked it up but didn't realize it was heavily censored, fortunately there are mods now that bring back the stuff that was censored.

Maybe I don't recall properly, but the whole new intro with the mother, child and the car seems to be new for this remaster.

I'm glad the things like exploiting the shit out of Adam's mini chainsaws and the magazines is still a thing. This kind of game, I want to be completely fucking overpowered against hordes of zombies.

Alright, played a bucket load of this and some thoughts.

- I really like some of the QoL changes they've made. The auto saving and multiple save slots are very welcome additions, adding more detailed compasses, durability counters on weapons etc are also great so there's no 'guessing game' element to it.
- Yes, there are still load times, but I didn't encounter a single load screen more than 2~3 seconds.
- I appreciate the 'hold' button functionality. It even extends to just holding down the button to continuously attack with melee weapons too.
- The character models are big, beefy, chunky and in your face a lot, and they've gotten some good to meh upgrades depending on who you're looking at.
- All NPC and Otis chatter being voiced is good, but ran into some instances where the NPC voice changes to a different actor when they do things like point an item to you in the mall etc, the old Oblivion/Skyrim conundrum.
- The 'censorship' issue, it's very weird the things they chose to censor and those that they didn't. They took out the erotic points and edited one scene with the rival photograph, but the scene with the obviously butch lesbian cop practically molesting a hostage with a nightstick is still intact, I don't remember if the original had it, but the same lady-cop now has very generous boob physics as well.

This game is still addicting as fuck. Pure mid 2000's arcade-like fun. None of the subsequent DR games have come close to being this addicting experiences.
