Dead Rising demo TODAY. Now. :o

I drank the Zombiebait and waited ontop of the awning where the Katana is hidden for the masses of undead to converge, once there were several dozen milling about, I jumped down, made my way to through the group turned and fired the shotty into the faces of 4 zombies and at the same moment snapped a picture - 2084 pts. :D

Shit, I only got 1250 even with the 25% ppt increase book from the store. Didn't try Zombait with the book yet though.

Sweet video, though it only reminded me of just how much stuff is in the game that's hard to fit into ten minutes. Skateboard, bowling ball, plastic sword... It also reminded me that you can combine concentrated drinks with regular materials as well, like a randomizer and I think an orange juice gave me an untouchable. I've got a feeling your bartender skills will be a big part of getting to the top of the survival rankings.

ahha today I made a fort out of the plastic chairs in the coffe shop :D

I think I have pretty much done everything in the demo but that damn microwave is taunting me... there must be something you can cook!

Atlast the Quickstep + Quickstep mystery can be revealed!

Camera TIP: go to options, at the bottom it says adjust view to (player/camera) w/ a default at player. What it essentially does is that when you hit L for the camera or R to ready a weapon instead of Frank aiming where he is facing, if you set the option to *camera* Frank will aim where the "Users" camera is facing. I found this much easier to take quick pictures and throw/shoot things.

anyway, i DO like this game and will be purchasing it at some point, maybe ill wait for the japanese version (unless i can find it import on the cheaps)

...you like the game? ..thats shocking because just about all your reply's in this thread have been negative towards this title.. boring, bad camera, lada lada lada, etc, etc, etc but you plan on buying it? :lol umm ok

Anyways, to everyone else..i really dig this game. Its nice to have an old school beat'em up on a next gen system and i think Capcom made one fun game here with Dead Rising, cant wait to actually play the full game when it comes out.

Im glad to see 360 covering alot of diffrent genre's with niche titles

PS> Gotta love the sizzling frying pan in a zombie's face lol :D

Ho that's great, thanks for the info!

Yeah, you'd be surprised how many people overlook the options menu when they first play.. well.. anything. That's the first thing I do in any game.

As for this one, invert y axis + invert aim y axis + camera option to "camera" is a must for me.

:lol I did something similar last night. I killed the armed zombie guards at the exit and took their handguns. Then I made my way to the cinema (and took some nearby ingredients for later) and back to the entrance so that they'd respawn... killed them and took those guns.

After that, I ran upstairs, grabbed the Uzi and went into the upstairs restaurant. Grabbed all the chairs and used them to block the entrances to the retaurant. Mixed and drank a Zombait and stood my ground blasting zombies as they tried to swarm in through the windows. :D

So... out of curiosity, how can you tell where you're supposed to go for the story to progress? They show the little case stuff at the begining but I don't think I noticed any sort of instructions or guide. I only played it shortly though.

You guys do know about the double tap escape moves right?
I don't find them that useful though, it takes too long to recover.
Ho, I'm one of these inverted Y guys too :D
Btw, am I the only one thinking that the full game might for some reason not be as fun? Having a drastic time limit like that actually makes me want to play again and again. With no such time limit, I'm not so sure I'd spend that much time experimenting. Ho well, we'll know soon enough :)
Shpankey: watch my video, almost exactly at the middle point (I really should add a time counter)

As in to escape from a zombie's grasp or to dive around? In either case yea.

It tells you about them in the status(?) page from the pause menu.

For the story to progress in the demo? That's not an option. Each story progression cutscene ends the demo automatically.

where is this Uzi you guys speak of at?
raYne said:
As for the Uzi, it's over the camera shop near where you start. Head straight from the beginning and head up the first set of stairs you come across. Mid way up the stairs look to your right and you'll see a blue awning. Jump and grab it, then make your way all the way to the end.

We'll soon reach the 1000 posts for a demo. That's rather incredible, and hopefully a good sign for the sales of this game. This could very well prove once and for all that good japanese games actually do sell on a Xbox system. No more Dino Crisis 3/Crimson Sea/Breakdown bullshit, to name 3 barely more than average japanese games for Xbox.

I think the missions and overarching time limit will do the trick. Not to mention all the new swag. And, maybe it's just me, but everything I've seen of the story so far looks pretty dang compelling.

If Crimson Sea and Crimson Skies got in a fight, who would win?

I sorta see your point. The demo time limit makes you want to replay over and over to see what you can do. So it does provide a lot more insentive to experiment.

But the full game gives you more stuff, more places, more weapons, boss fights, people to save, moves to unlock etc etc.

Crimson Skies > Crimson Sea.

Go upstairs. At the top of one of the two flights of stairs you can see a blue awning on your left (while facing towards the bottom of the stairs). Jump on top of it and follow it around and the uzi is at the end of the path. If this doesn't make sense...just watch Blim's vid.

Breakdown wasn't average, atleast not as average as DC3 was.
Yeah I know, Breakdown is a whole bunch better than that horrible DC3, it's still a very flawed game. Anyway, let's not start a debate about this, I just wanted to list 3 games from important japanese devs.

"fanTAAASTic!" :lol

Quite addictive trying to get the best photos consistently. Very disappointing when taking a photo below the apparent 500-point "fantastic" threshold.

Have just begun experimenting after getting the lay of the land. Not only does the demo give you a lot to play with, but also has one of the highest teaser ratios (in a good way) as almost every door or far end exit leads to a different cutscene whetting the appetite for the full game.

[And as someone who really liked the game, before I move on I offer another vote in favor of Breakdown.]

I hate breakdown.
Not that it was entirely bad, I hate it because it could have been some masterpiece had namco put the effort it deserved in it. It turned out decent with a few good moments.
Oh, back on topic now.

It was refreshing and a pretty unique immersive experience. Wish I finished it before I sold my Xbox.[/derail]

It's rumored that you can level up in the demo, anyone tried this?

You gotta take a shit load of pictures, use the stoves, create some drinks and ****ing kill all the zombies you can. I've only got 3/4 to leveling. If someone does it your insane and got skills.

I've been kind of keeping track of the things that give you mad PP. The frying pan, the special pictures (I don't get PP for taking a pic of Kobun, though some have). I've never been able to level up yet. If someone does, they should post a pic of what happens.

BTW: Bowling balls are great for PP, as well as constantly using the decap move with the scythe.

You have to hit the statue so that the top part of the head spins around. When it lines up "backwards", then you snap your pic.

don't know if anyone has mentioned them in the demo yet, but i got an "erotica" photo last night. a female zombie was walking towards me up the stairs (i was at the top looking down) and fell a second before i snapped it, putting half of her head in the shot at the bottom of the frame. hot!

Sluts wearing the teddies will get you Erotica shots. I saw what looked like zombie's making out and i thought for sure i'd get some damn special pp but it wasnt like that.

Still lots of fun to **** around with.

It's ok. You were just taking pictures on zombie bewbs.. we understand. No need to fabricate that whole scenario.

Ah! I tried taking a pic WHILE it was spinning, too. Thanks.
