pssh save complaint - get a effing skateboard or bicycle and haul ass (shopping cart, too!)

Can you push a shopping cart and then jump in and ride it when it has some momentum? That would be cool.

That map is missing one cut scene point (the maintenance room on the first floor).

Where do you get the key for it?

No, but you can always pick it up and throw it at a zombie in anger over this missing feature

Hey Kobey, can you confirm the nature of this save thing? Can I not have two seperate Save Strings?

Who cares? Make free silver accounts for your friends/roommates' save files.

If you are worried about the save file, remember, all XBOX360 games use the profile system. Just create a different profile and you two can choose who uses which one. Each profile will have its own save.

I didn't need a key. Maybe it was called something else, but it was a door with "exit" sign over it.

I tried to open it and it said I needed the maintenance key or something

"Maintenance Tunnel Key"

its the room by the bathrooms, right?

No. Wrong door. It was sort of in the middle of that section of the mall.

edit: Sorry guys, it's the "Warehouse" door, right by where the demo starts, not the maintenance room.

The first time I died it wasn't from a zombie. I was trying out the skateboard, smacked into a table, and died of embarassment. What I like most about the game are the little touches, like smacking the big servbot head to make it spin, or the way zombies will scramble over a counter. It just feels so polished and fun. Don't care if it's rather simple.

Edit: Almost forgot when I threw the broken handle of the mop and it stuck in the zombie's head, which continued to wander around with a three foot wood pole jutting from its noggin. Just lovely.

I found something I do like!

You can actually hold hands with NPC's to lead them through dangerous area's! Very well done, awesome inverse kinematic animations and shit. And you can give them stuff, for example to raise their health.

bloody ICO ftw

The reason why the demo rocks so much? You didn't pay a dime for it :)
So yeah, it's an instant 9. Free stuff almost always tastes so much better.

After factoring in your hard earned $59 for the full game and the newness wares off, you may not agree that it deserves such a high score.

N3 was free and that definitely didnt get a 9 from me!

OK, I'm lost. Where am I actually supposed to go? Everything just seems to trigger a cutscene that ends the demo.

You can't save mark in the demo (or even meet him) I don't think....

Yea, you save your current game always on the same savegame (overwrite). Very stupid system! There does seem to be more savearea's you can save at then just the startingpoints I noticed when checking at the map, it's still dumb though...

You can save in any restroom too. Maybe EGM didn't figure that out?

Game is easily a 9/10 for me (free or not on the demo). It does EVERYTHING super well except for the save system and the shooting mechanics.

I dunno, I've played plenty of anticipated free demos where I didn't say "OMG 9!!"

This game will probably be an 8.5/9 for me once I get it. I love how it plays, the online leaderboards should be great, downloadable content, seems to be pretty decent story/dialogue, and the gore pushes it up a few notches too. :D

I can live with a shitty save system and bad NPC AI.

I'm so glad I checked the boards this morning. I ran up and started the DL before I left to school.

You can f***ing hea up a frying pan and melt a zombie's face? jesus. Capcom can have my babies!

so basically two people cant play dead rising on the same 360 or else it will overwrite?

As has been stated before....make another profile for the other person, let him/her play under that profile, and problem is solved.

Razoric said:

no. two people can't play dead rising on the same 'profile' but you can have multiple profiles on the same 360.

edit: beated.

a real time game to me, feels like it should only let you have one save at any given time personally. i'm pretty sure you can just feed the npcs to the zombies if you want too (unless it's a story mission i think). so it shouldn't be too big a deal... plus you don't have to do the story missions (though they do unlock new areas).

sounds like EGM didn't like the realtime thing where things happen at given times whether you're there or not... personally i don't mind the sound of that. you can still play through all three days and get rescued. it's not like the game just ends if you miss a story mission.

I'm of the opinion that every game should just let you save at anytime. Having to hunt down save points is stupid. But it is only a small complaint. This demo can tide me over too as I won't be getting DR until around the 15th, as I will be leaving for a couple days the day this game is released. :/

That is the point. The demo is to whet your appetite for bad ass boss battles.

I rrrrealllyy want to fight the Religious Nut with the Big Effing Sword. I WANT HIS SWORD.

oh ok... shit that's fine then. i thought you could only have one save for the entire game for everyone.

why are people complaining then? isnt the game structured as such you are ment to play through multiple times? so if you miss something just go through it again?

doesnt seem that bad to me.

Ooooh, you know what, though? We're an Achievement Aware household (half my Oblivion Gamerscore is from her). I guess we'll just have to watch each other play because it would really suck to not have our work contributing to the same pot.

Yeah, if I miss anything, oh well. I'll just have to play through again!

Not on the same profile, no!

It's very 'arcadey' in that sense.

It's not stupid, it was obviously going to be like this. Since the game was always meant to force you to choose what to do and what to skip (lots of things it seems) on your first playthrough, they can't let you have different savestates; otherwise you could always go back to your last save and choose to do something different, develop several games in different directions and potentially see everything before completing the game for the first time, which is what the devs didn't want you to.

I've been doing some cooking:

Ketchup + OJ gave me Nectar. No clue what it does
OJ + OJ = same
Cooking oil + Pie gave me a random boost I think. I got quickstep from it which makes me run fast as hell
Cooking oil + baking ingredients gave me spitfire
Baking ingrediants + pie gave me the same thing
ketchup + baguette = same
cooking oil + cooking oil = same
chips + baking ingredients = same
baguette + pie gave me 'untouchable' which seems to stop zombies from grabbing you
OJ + pie = same

I was dissapointed that the blender would not accept my hunk of flesh :(

:O

WTF. Oblivion Jr FTMFW.

Also, whoever mentioned the Pause Music tip for custom soundtracks? Does not work. You have to STOP the music for the sound to come back and, well, we all know why that won't work. Hopefully in the final game it will just pause the music, like every other 360 game on Earth.

So...are you guys enjoying it? I think it's great fun but the only thing I don't like about the demo is that anytime you view a cutscene in another area other than the one you start in the demo ends after it's over.

Thats kind of the point, to make you buy the game!

spitfire makes your spit really powerful. unequip your weapon, go into aim mode and you can spit on the zombies.

ah, thanks

I still have no idea what 'Nectar' does, but it sure lasts awhile

Okay I actually thought the game would be boring, I don't like splatter movies and I'm generally against the idea of having blood in games. Why would I like Dead Rising? But man, this is FUN! I'm sitting here with a big grin on my face while playing! I can't even remember when that happened the last time!

Right now I'm thinking this may be the Game of the year for me.

Thanks Capcom. You rule.

Now this is what I like to wake up to! Damn, I can't wait to play this. 35% after about 5 minutes so I shouldn't have to wait too much longer. I was already excited, but all of the impressions in this thread are further propelling my need for the demo to finsih downloading. Glad I don't have to be at work for a few hours. :D

Only played for about 10 minutes - but man it was so much fun. Seems like there's so much to do in the game...and there's so many freakin zombies! I ran into a music store and got cornered by 2 zombies so I started throing cd cases at them, funny stuff.

I have to admit I'm a bit shocked at the amount of zombies in the mall. I didn't think it would be this plentiful! o_O

It makes it more fun to mow down a bunch of them with a bowling ball in a group and then take a picture! :D

Game does look fantastic too. Especially in motion.
