Dead Rising demo TODAY. Now. :o

Who the hell said XBOX1.5? OK, the 1up reviewer...

He's on crack. I finally played this and, holy crap, it looks amazing. We all know how much fun it is, but I didn't expect it to look this good. The level of detail on everything is off the charts when you consider how many zombies are on screen. Fantastic lighting, models, environments, and textures. The image quality is also quite stunning.

Can't wait for this. I simply hope that the missions are solid as the demo really gives very little indication of how they will work (but I can guess).

If a weapon doesn't have a jump attack mode, you will perform a jump kick, which is really useful for knocking zombies out of your way

I did that to knock down a zombie woman so i could take a photo of the panties :lol ( erotica points )
They rise too fast though.

When pointing your photocamera at a zombie, it won't attack. It just stands there as if it is posing. Just like the woman behind the shopping trolly this could be a sign of the remainder of old memories when they were ordinary people. Which is also a central theme in the Romero movies.

I found one of the zombies driving a cart.

Regarding the photo mode, they do attack and the closer they get the better the picture and points. It works simmilar to Fatal Frame.

I'm pretty sure you get the points for dead zombies too.

Sure that isnt already in the game?. I find it something to be expected.

yeah, in fact i do expect something like this to be in the final game, just not this fleshed out, maybe.

That would have been great but i think from now on they will reserve all that for XBLA.

That's true. I don't think we can expect to play old classics within new games, shenmue style, because of XBLA.
And definately not from Capcom, anyway : ) Would have been nice though. Think of playing Ghosts'n'goblins surrounded by hundreds of moaning zombies...how would you do that ? well, they could have zombies pause and stare at the screen, mesmerized by the zombie sprites on it, or waiting in line...maybe even supporting g'n'g's zombies moaning whenever Arthur kills one : P

The models look fine. The thing that really bothers me is the goddamn lip animation. When they talk they look like fish. Otherwise teh animation is fine. I guess whoever rigged the face/lips didn't know what the **** they were doing.

I dunno, in general I thought it was fine, maybe because all the other body language sells the scenes. Also, after the 99 Nights demo, almost any lip syncing looks AMAZING.

Played the demo like everyone else on my friends list. :lol

Fun, but for me, lacks lasting appeal. It seemed like it would get very repetitive. Probably a great rental game. Graphics were clean and nice, thought the environment was well done, characters had nice detail, but the killing zombies thing could get old pretty fast.

The lack of multiplayer in this game really hurts it in my eyes. Seems like a title that wold be screaming out for co-op mode.

shit, just played this in a store :D

funfunfun. My favorite tool was the Rake. I sucked with the shotgun, but I didn't try that hard. Died pretty fast though :(

Can't help with the second chart, but you can add the snack bags into the mixer. I found two, one near the fountain and one in the trash bin right before it. Adding that with cooking oil got me a randomizer... which made me sick like they always do for me.

I think I'm up to ten plays of the demo now and it just never gets old. Co-op would have been cool if it was some sort of photo mode, where only one person could attack and the other tries to get good pictures of the action. They could even toss the camera to each other to change places. Oh well, maybe in the sequel.

OH SHIT! Forgot about the snack pack. Thanks man. Unexpected results with Snack and Pie!

one thing i'm not diggin is that i cleared the whole upstairs of zombies and it autmatically stuck new zombies there. just poof new zombies.

would have been way better if they had to come up the stairs or something to get there.

not just poof more zombies.

Had to create a US XBL account to get it, just finished downloading the demo and playing it.

F***ing awesome, will probably pick this up when it comes out

My highest score in photo mode is a 951. Took a picture of the cardboard standup of a hot female outside the cd store. hahaha.....:lol

You have different PP-Posters around in the mall where you can get 1000pp in one shot. You get a precentage in the bottom of the camera when shooting that indicates how many percent of the total PP you'll get.
So far I've found the Wendy cardbord girl, Jill's Sandwiches and Columbian roastmasters sign.

also any word if this text on screen is better on the final, i can barley read most everything on screen and i have a 61 inch tv. super blurry!!!!

What? I'm playing on my projector at 80" and everything is crystal clear. I don't know how you're having trouble seeing anything on a 61" screen.

Edit: nevermind. Just saw your other post. Everything on a large SD screen is going to be blurry.

Something thats missing (it might be in the full game, but I doubt it) a CAPCOM brand shop. I can see a giant Viewtiful Joe toy in the middle, Leon carboard standee by the door and racks of retro games.

And a Street Fighter 2 arcade cabinet, that you can smash over Zombie's heads.

Speaking of potential marketplace content, anyone notice the North Plaza is under construction?

I'm thinking, perhaps, the downloadable content will be that entire wing. New stores, more weapons, more clothes, more people to rescue, maybe another boss battle.

That would be really neat. I just wish there was some way for the community to contact Kenji Inafune and his team with fan suggestions. (magic Power Stone bo-staff plz)

It's always been easy to communicate with western devs about future patches or expansion packs-- just with stuff the community wants to see. But that's never been the case with Japanese games, and that might be a problem this gen when they try to deliver online content to a worldwide audience, especially western ones. I wonder how that's pan out.

Quick example; Frank's a photographer and it appears you can only take 30 pics at the beginning. Wouldn't it be nice to give the player the possibility to pick up better cameras, larger memory cards to store more photos, better lens (ranging from fisheye to tele) ?
FYI, Frank's battery lasts 30 shots. You can replace the battery though at the camera shop

That would be great! Hope this actually happens. :D

This is the best single player sandbox EVER.

If it had co-op, it would be a system-selling super-behemoth.

DO IT CAPCOM, DO IT!

If you build it, I will come.

Did 1UP play an old BETA version? Finally played the demo and it looks incredible, most detailed graphics I've seen so far - especially the detail on the faces - like he has stubble and it is so detailed!

But forget that, this is the most fun I've had in ages! It just feels so old-school Capcom! I don't know why, because this is totally different to any of that, but if Capcom had stopped making games between the days of 1942 and Ghouls and Ghosts and came back with a game now, it would be this.

Dead Rising & Lost Planet are a total U-turn from Capcom from the way they supported the Xbox 1. Two absolute AAA games judging by the demos alone, I just hope more are in the pipeline from Capcom, I love 'em!

No kidding huh? They are nothing like Dino Crisis 3, that's for damn sure. :lol

Haha! You're right there. I mean Capcom totally shafted the first Xbox with that crap - they never would have released it in that state on the PS2... or even Gamecube!

Still, I have a heart for Capcom in the same way I do for Sega. Two classic companies with arcade roots, and the best back-catalogues in the world of any company (IMO). And that includes Nintendo.

Now all we need is Capcom to continue supporting XBLA further than SFII. If Konami have announced Castelvania.. what will Capcom announce next?? :)

This game is so full of little details. I must've spent 5 minutes alone just throwing gems around inside of the jewelry shop. :lol

It was pretty cool when I tried hitting a zombie that had a hard hat on with a sledgehammer... there was just a big spark and the zombie just fell over, but wasnt hurt. Awesome stuff. :D

Speaking of retro games and for all of you who were asking about playing classic arcade games, I seem to remember 'Fune, while talking about the time limit in game, said something like "or you could spend all three days playing games in the arcade".

Can't believe I'm the only one who remembers this.

You know more is in the pipeline... and it too has zombies :D

However, about the demo: really sweet! I've got two questions - I haven't read the entire thread, so maybe they were already answered, but however:

1 - Do you see screen tearing too? Expecially visible in the initial sequence... it's the only flaw in a perfect demo. I'm using VGA output, maybe it's due to it?
2 - Has someone already done a "cool things to do" list for the demo? :-)

I'm using VGA with a 19" CRT. No tearing. I have the dash set to 1280x720 right now.

Surprised people are mentioning screen tearing 'cause I haven't seen it at all. It's one of the first things I noticed after witnessing the dreadful tearing that goes on in the Saint's Row demo. Component Sony XBR 960 CRT here.
