Dead Space 3 demo available for 360 and PS3

Those will make a lot more sense in the full game. There's a lot going on in DS3's front end.

Hi
as huge fan of Dead Space lore I wanted to ask you or codecow if there will be a good amount of audio-video-text logs to find that explain the details of outbreak, T. volantis colony, necros and things... And about the lines of dialog and cutscenes: they will be important or the story will be told more by documents (things that I personally LOVE about dead space)

have codecow or monkey responded to the hit-feedback issue (no visual or audio indication if you are hit by bullets when in over-the-shoulder view)?

So because you can't wait a week you're not even going to try it. Makes sense.

I've got Live and I can't even be bothered to do all this sign up code stuff anyway, will try this when it's "free". Then again I'm really laid back about playing things immediately, works for me since I play things at huge reductions some months down the line.

Well I can't say I care for it very much. I was burned with 2 so I'll wait till this hits bargain bins. I still like the necromorphs but the overall game is just not really my thing, they've moved too far away from the first game. The human enemies and cover system are utterly stupid and there's just too much plot and dialogue now.

I liked it but I think everything takes like 10 seconds too long to kill lol and that Spider/Crab looking Boss took forever,to the point that I thought I needed to do something else to bring it down or,well you know...still day one though, looks absolutly incredible for one and co-op should be great.

I agree about the regular dudes taking a little too long to kill, as for the crab looking boss after about 10 minutes of running and cutting the tentacles that regenerate I stasis its mouth just before new ones regenerate and blast with all I got rigth there, took one try after that.

I think thats the way to make it run away.

Weren't we all locked on normal difficulty for the demo? If so, I have no idea how to account for the discrepancy of what you've wrote here and my experience. Crab boss was easy, shootbang the orange parts while using statis til its done. Took about 30seconds to a minute on my own, about the same on coop, since the extra firepower just balanced out our franticness trying to coordinate. Found the regular enemies pretty much what you'd expect from the previous games.

I mean, I have good and bad things to say about the demo, some stuff I really disliked, but these complaints I don't get. We all got locked on normal I believe, and I'm guessing everyone loaded up with the shitload of supplies they'd given you for the demo too, I just wasn't having these problems at all.

have you not played a dead space game before? Limbs and/or glowy bits.

the one thing I didn't like was near the beginning when that tram? falls and there is a QuickTime event. All you do is hold the stick up and he climbs, you press A when it flashes and he reacts. Just thought the holding the stick up was lazy.

Oversight maybe: you move super slow but to get around that, aim and you'll notice you are almost running. This is for the part before they tell you what button run will be.

I did that for about tten minutes and he never ran away, it was only till I started shooting its mouth or the middle part when it opens it for new tentacles to regenerate when I did damage and he went away.

Just baslting his glowing tentacles and cutting them is not enough or was not enough for me, maybe was a bug? one time I even used all my ammo and eventually let myself killed there because I didn't knew how to kill it.

Nah no bug, same thing for me it took a while..but I hadn't really boosted my equipment up at the bench and all...I figure this is just a demo and there is a lot of stuff on the bench, didn't bother to upgrade and try and figure it all out...I made a Force Gun,thats it and changed into the ice suit hehe...and yeah I played all the previous Dead Space...I know about the limbs and all,the regular guys just seemed to take longer to take down...minor gripes though,I enjoyed the demo except maybe that Boss fight...

Yea I dunno. I skipped the bench and upgrades because I wanted to have a good feel for how feasible the one gun plasma cutter playthrough still is so I just made ammo and kept that equipped and he dropped with no problem, just slap on stasis as soon as something orange appeared and shoot it and done. I explained to my friend for the coop run who had never played dead space before "you know Resi 5 where you just shoot the glowing bits? That." and he had no probs either. So I still can't speak to it regardless of upgrades and what not. I'd assume they made it easier.

I won't dictate your experience to you so I'll drop it now, if you had difficulty, you did and my experience doesn't change that, I just wanted to say that absolutely didn't happen to me for either of the two plays I did.

I like the demo.
First of all it looks really good. I'm a big fan of Visceral's artists and Dead Space art direction since Dead Space 1.
IQ is really good and SSAO looks clean but is a little too aggressive IMO.
I'm a big "The Thing" and "Alien" fan so I really love the arctic setting. There are some nice atmospheric effects too.
Gameplay wise it is very similar to previous games. The biggest difference I think is the enemies' speed, they seem to be a lot faster than in previous games. Another difference of course is that we are fighting humans, I don't like that part too much. Not because that in these particular moments the game is more like a shooter, but because it's like a relly mediocre shooter. My major complains are Issac's and enemies' hit reactions and AI. They are just hiding behind the cover popping up from time to time to shoot.
I don't think that Dead Space 1 was concieved with that kind type of long range cover based combat and yet we have it here. While the controls are pretty much the same as in the first game.
It's not that gonna be that big of a problem for me if human vs human combat is present only in a few places in the game.
Fighting with necromorphs is still enjoyable (but I think that hit reactions were better in previous games due to them being slower), atmosphere and setting are really spot on and the sound is good as always. I am pretty sure I will enjoy the full game.
I don't have anyone with the demo on my friend list so I can't say anything about coop.

btw. I just replayed a little of Dead Space 2 and it seems like Issac is moving the very same speed while aiming as in DS3. So my memory deceived me there.

Did not dig it at all. Feels like they turned it into too much of an actiony third person shooter, with way too much ammo. Not that I have a problem with actiony third person shooters, but I want Dead Space to be darker and more survival horror. I miss my creepy derelict space ship and slowly moving through the dark, so imagine my disappointment to see broad daylight, with human and monsters alike with guns shooting at me. It's just not Dead Space, but I'll probably rent it or something one day.

Also, I have an extra code for the first to ask for it.

I'd like it if still offering

I'm pretty damn excited! I loved one, how it just thrust you into the thick of it, and I loved two as well. I think I beat number one like three times, and though some of the novelty and charm has gotten a little worse for wear, I still love the story and music and style. Playing with a buddy will be interesting. The solemn and lonely atmosphere occupied with a duo to help push eachother. I always make sure to catch up before playing, because then you can pay attention to the storyline better and boosting the difficulty is usually a requirement as well. Nothing like being thin on ammo and health while screaming for your buddy to open a door as you squeeze off the last few rounds of your pulse rifle into a ravenous horde of approaching necromorphs.

Think the game is looking pretty good. There's definitely a direction I would rather have seen the series go after the original than where Visceral took it with Dead Space 2, but this is looking like another great game anyway. Can't wait for Feb.

Honestly, my biggest issue with what I've seen is that that second co-op character looks to be somewhat cringe-worthy (I had totally forgotten about that "Fuck this planet!" line, eurgh) hopefully he grows as the game goes on. :/

Ok, Since I'm not sure who's gotten codes after they've asked; quote this post if you want one and I'll try to get codes for as many people as I can.

Dead Space always gave you copious amount of ammo. i've finished 1 and 2 with surplus.

It just seems like it is raining it here, though. Boxes everywhere and enemies dropping it left and right. But that is not my biggest issue. It just does not have the creepy and dark atmosphere of slowly making your way through a derelict space ship out in the abyss of space, and the enemies with guns just kills it even further. It is a more actiony third person shooter with only a bit Dead Space wrapping to me.

Is that you RE5/RE6 under disguise?

Dude it's a 20 minute demo of a 10 hour game

I know we're getting new systems soon but I was really impressed with the demo. Visceral added anti aliasing
and new depth of field effects to the already great deferred rendering engine. Oh yeah and it's really fun too!!

And this is why OG Dead Space will always be the best.

I agree. Dead Space 1 is a masterpiece. DS 2 wasn`t bad but i really only loved the chapters 7 - 12.

And Dead Space 3... i don`t know. I just don`t like the direction they took with this one. A Dead Space game has to be set in space, with lot´s of zero g sections and has to feature plenty of dark industrial environments with machineries.

Played the original Dead Space demo when it came out, and really hated it. Decided to give the Dead Space 3 demo a whirl just to see if the game moved in a direction more to my liking, and based on the demo it did a little bit.

But man, I honestly couldn't bring it upon myself to play a full Dead Space game.

The enemies, weapons, sound, and overall visuals are so damn good, but I just can't get over the sluggish movement. The movement doesn't normally bother my in third person shooters, but it just really ruins Dead Space for me.

Grrr.
