Deadlock |OT|

quite frankly, it's just boring.

while it draws heavily from games like Dota, it does not have the complex systems involved and technical / rpg elements at the very least interesting team fights that keep it exciting to play. Most of the time it's just a spam fest and once one team gets even slightly ahead it's an absolute slog to come back as the underdog.

I think it has it's niche and potential. right now it's still in close beta (alpha?) stage anyway. still plenty of room to refine the matches and map and characters. once it gets a big enough roster and out in public, I think it'll do pretty well. not going to be for everyone but hopefully it'll find a good number of audience and keep it going.

This latest update got me to reinstall.

Map is much better. Store too. Visuals have been improved a lot. Liking a lot of the new characters. The hideout is cool and has lots of potential.

Going to watch some videos on current meta and play flow before hopping into a few games tomorrow.

Updated. Played about 170 hours previous but I found as the player count went down, you were teamed with generally higher level players who expected more, which I couldn't give, so dropped it for a while. It was definitely fun for a while there though. Update has really gone to town. Looks absolutely stunning. May set some time aside this coming weekend to get back into it.

Sorry but how do you install this, all I see is add to wishlist on steam page?

currently, the game is still in a close testing state. you will need to get an invite from a friend who's already in the testing and then wait for Valve to let you in the game. let me know if you need an invite. I can friend you and send you one.

I'm a VERY new MOBA player and have about 50 hours in Predecessor. Never played Dota, League, etc. I've been in the playtest for months now but only played a few matches where I was still confused as all hell in terms of how to play whatever lane I was supposed to be in, what upgrades to choose for character, when to push up, etc. I did the tutorial in game too. Are there any good videos or guides for someone new like me for this game?

there are not a lot of channels on Youtube covering this game yet since it's still in close testing stage, but I'll dig up a few later on for you.

as for learning, if you have time to kill, just go watch a few matches and look at how others play and what they buy. that's one of the best way to learn. either that or play against bots and try things out.

here are some videos that might help new players. but keep in mind some of the information might be outdated since the game had gone through a lot of changes in the last 6+ months in regards to the map and heros. but I believe most of these would still be useful since they're more fundamental knowledge.

Aside from the tutorial, the in game shop lets you select from upvoted builds that players have put together. This lets you easily follow the meta by just going to browse and picking one of the top 3 for your character to try.

The overall objective is easy, kill enemies, kill the minions, take the larger minions out, and push your lane up until you get to their base before they get to yours. Level up, build your character up, participate in team fights, and constantly try to farm minions to out level opponents.

The best way to learn a moba is just to play non stop for a couple hundred hours. Learn what characters do, how to avoid it, what synergies work together, etc. Watch someone good at the game play on YT with a character you like, watch guides on those characters too.

There is no shortcut. The meme in dota 2 is the first 1000 hours is the tutorial… except that's not a meme. It is true. The same for league.

The good news is once you learn one moba you can then easily jump into others.

Last bits of info:
-Do not engage with other players verbally or via typing. Either pre mute before queue or mute the second someone is toxic. DO NOT respond to them. You will tilt them immediately and they will throw the game.
-There is no reward the more and more you play. These games are best as you're learning, low elo, and having a close fought win. Once you play enough even if you win you feel like you lost. MOBAs are the biggest waste of your time in gaming.

sadly this is very true. just have fun and enjoy it as much as possible and don't worry about the win/loss and you'll be fine.

It's enticing to return, at the same time I'm not sure I'm ready for a sweatfest. Haven't played for a while now, so feels like I'm rusty going against very good players and teammates who expect me to be very good.

tbh, right now with the surge of players, it might be a good time to get back in since there will be plenty of players new to the game or to the new heros.

I can see why they have to nerf Victor. played him for the first time yesterday and I was just able to do so much with him without being all that skillful overall.

on a side note, maybe it's just because I'm still in low tier in terms of ranking, but people just don't go get the rune buffs and the slot machines buffs. it's so important to get those either for yourself or deny it from the other team.

I think I play this game too casually. Doorman build with refresher and cool down just to piss people off is too fun

so, been getting straight losses last night because people just quit for the smallest crap. it's getting late and I thought I'll run one more game. got one as Dynamo and everyone on my team is actually talking at least. suddenly while still zipping over to the Guardian, someone from our team noted that he remembers the Haze was cheating with aimbot on the other team from the night before. not much we can do outside of voicing our disapproval to the other team. we kept playing and at least the Haze was pretty shit in terms of builds and movement. but our Seven fed to the Mina and then left about 1/3 of the way into the game. so we're 5 v 6 against a cheater. we just keep playing and try to pick our fights as best as we can. but after some good team fights we were able to force the Haze to leave and win the game in the end. really made my night even thou I'm lacking in sleep now. :messenger_grinning_sweat: (Bookguensung is the name of the aimbot Haze)

got 8 straight losses and one game I even got a Victor in our team that went 1/20/2. sometimes you have no choice but to call it a night. :messenger_downcast_sweat:

been playing more lately and having some good games. then saw the new update and things will get rather interesting. the change to the laning phase alone is huge, not to mention all the other stuff. will probably take some time to adjust to.

new patch is out and along with it comes a new shorter and more random 4v4 game mode, changes to the two Patrons that's now named the Hidden King and Archmother. and not to mention, 6 new heros. like before they'll be holding a voting to see who gets release next, every Monday and Thursday starting from January 26th. should be exciting times and great to hop back in.

I wonder if those little vent/peepholes here and there have actual use outside of just letting you look into the other side? I tried Warp Stone into them but doesn't seem to work. outside of that, all the new details added to the map and the artwork for all the new heros are just so, like the kids would say, PEAK.

edit: oh the small holes are for the cat Ava and I'm guessing the new little guy Rem to get around the map. that's pretty crazy.

the rework on delivering the urn is pretty good. it makes the defense side more active and actually have to push out more since now it's delivered on touchdown instead of having to wait.

Has valve mentioned any console plans for deadlock?

Seems far more suited than say Dota 2.

Would be a big hit if possible.

Is there a "go to" video on how to play this damn game from someone new to MOBA's?

try this one from Metro. his videos tend to be pretty decent. this one is slightly outdated since the securing souls part had been changed since this video was uploaded. now other than the soul that slowly flow up, there will also be a piece of soul on the ground where the lane creeps got killed. when you get close to it, the soul will fly over to you. so you kinda have to move in from time to time to get those parts of the souls. but other than that and some small map changes, the video should still holds just fine even with the current update.

as for console, I don't think that's impossible but it'll most likely be in the far future. but you can play it on the Steam Deck or other handheld PCs. the game fully support controller mapping. but I imagine you will have a hard time laning against some heros depending on which hero you're using.

This game really sparks my interest - heroes, lanes, and in-match progression. As a shooter fan, I'm down to try new stuff, but I want the gunplay to stay crisp and fun, not turn into chaos because of mechanics. How are things going there?

did expect Rem to be a very strong support, but did not expect him to be such a huge farm monster. with the little helpers, you can farm out all the Sinners around the map with no difficulty at all and not to mention the little tunnels he can get into to get away. I still had not been able to get him in a match yet, but will keep trying.

if you like more gun focus gameplay, Haze would be a good pick for you. I'm not sure if Doorman gun build is still a thing but that was a menace for a while too. then there's Vyper, Vindicta, McGinnis, Infernus, Holiday, maybe even Greytalon or Ivy. and not to forget, the gun Pocket aka Glocket. hell, I've even went gun Victor once and it was kinda ok even if it was a weird build. key point is, a lot of the heroes can work with gun build, but often times you'll still need to rely on knowing their skills and the correct items to make them work. and especially when it gets to late game and they're team fighting in the throne room trying to push or defense, it WILL get chaotic for sure. it's really just a matter of getting used to it and hoping your teammates know what they're doing.

A huge part of the monetization model around CS2/Dota 2 is the 15% fee Valve gets from player trades (and the massive gambling market that has spawned around player trading). I doubt console vendors would allow this monetization scheme.
