Quest exclusivity is not it- and this is coming from a (new) Quest 3 owner.

Looks mad fun though. Glad to see all these new VR titles coming out. Hope for a Spiderman one next

If its like Batman, Meta funded it, so are they supposed to also fund PSVR2/PC versions too, even when they have the largest market share?

Twisted Pixel is a first party studio.

If it has decent gameplay I'll give it a try. It would be nice to have a reason to dust off my Quest 3.

They got some Ryan Reynolds impersonator instead of the actual voice of Deadpool: Nolan North. Fail.

But it's Meta exclusive so I won't be able to play it anyway.

Edit: Wait that was Neil Patrick Harris? Wtf

I like the Deadpool movies but this was straight cringe. Also I'm assuming this isn't Ryan Reynolds? It sounded like somebody trying to do their best Ryan impression.

I can't tell who are more entertaining: the people whining about VR, the people whining about Quest exclusivity, or Silksong fans. I'll go with the last one. I love Hollow Knight but those guys are batshit insane.

I'm definitely buying after reading these hands on previews:

UPLOAD VR

By the end of my demo, I was strafing left toward three bad guys while another shot at me from my right. I grabbed the katana off my back and stuck him to a wall without missing a beat gunning toward the other guys. I did so many things as Deadpool in such a short amount of time, I cannot remember it all. The developers repeatedly encouraged us to try stuff out to see if it works. I had incredible fun killing bad guys in wildly different ways, and I couldn't find any obvious spots breaking the illusion of embodying Deadpool. That level of immersion for that length of time handling that many weapons and it all just worked? It suggests Deadpool is shaping up to be an impressive game. That it can only be played in VR is the point, sure, but Twisted Pixel went all out in taking the best of gaming's traditions and sharpening them up for VR in an accessible way.

Deadpool VR feels like Twisted Pixel brought the complete power of Quest 3 to gaming and pushed it to somewhere very special. Everything the studio is doing here with Meta, from the hardware's clarity and frame rate to the lighting and bright color palette of the game, appears drawn to the task of making extended active gaming in full VR a fun and comfortable experience. Sometimes slicing someone right down the middle in VR is fun and satisfying, and Deadpool embraces this.

It's surprisingly fun to play in VR

This isn't Batman, where the World's Greatest Detective's stealth and investigative work suit the more methodical movement of VR rather naturally. No, Deadpool is basically a ninja who also really really loves guns, and Deadpool VR seems to capture that fairly well so far. As an example, you can wall run and double jump, the latter of which might sound silly but in practice works pretty well – especially paired with sliding and being able to jump kick enemies in the face or even smash their heads in with your foot after you've downed them.

You'll also acquire an experimental device that not only lets you grapple up to distant points – thus speeding up your traversal – but it also lets you grab targets and fling them towards you, at which point time slows down and gives you the chance to execute them in a hail of bullets or, as I preferred to do, take out both of Wade Wilson's swords and slice their body up in several different ways.

Give Meta some credit: they are taking some big swings in the VR gaming space – unlike Sony, who seems content to let the PSVR 2 be an overpriced paperweight – and giving quality developers with solid track records a chance to build a game that casual and core gamers alike can get into. I haven't played nearly enough of Deadpool VR to determine just how good it is yet, but it genuinely did surprise me with how fun this beloved character – who hasn't been playable in a video game in over a decade – was to suit up as in VR.

GAMESRADAR

Deadpool VR stars Neil Patrick Harris as the merc with a mouth, and its super slick combat has impressed me so far

A detail that I find amusing is that you can monitor Deadpool's health by the amount of damage he has sustained to his body. Once you take enough damage, Deadpool will lose an entire limb

Apparently if you lose an arm, you can pick it up with your other arm and beat people to death with it lol 10/10

What issue? Didn't they just announce a Marvel IP licenced game with Arc Systems? Is it specific to VR or something?
Specific Marvel characters and ownership. I didn't see Deadpool in the tokon fighting souls, but did a quick check and Gemini states he's playable. So maybe it is specifically developed for Quest. Seems like a missed opportunity for other VR platforms

Like with Batman, it's a first party game.

Don't blame him I thought the same.

Yeah if you blindfolded me 8 years ago and put on the headset and played some of these games, I would have definitely thought they were running on a mid tier PC. It's even more impressive to me than Switch mobile visuals because of the higher framerates.

VR is just one of those things that you have to experience before you truly understand.

It's honestly the only gaming tech I've used that was a truly wow upgrade over traditional monitor/keyboard that has been a slow progression. Everything else has been a gimmick, and people that call VR a gimmick I don't believe have actually used real VR, outside of some medical issue that stops them from seeing real 3D.

Missing PSVR2 for Ps5 is stupid
Nah missing PC by releasing on their own PC meta store is stupid (or maybe just annoying).
Releasing their first party games on PSVR2 would be nice but unlikely to happen as they don't even see gaming as the end game - they are just forced to support it for now.

I feel for the game developer who has to be interviewed by someone who's really not interested in the game but only reads questions from a cue card.
But I thought they were joking with involving Neil Patrick Harris. Surprising that he can imitate Ryan Reynolds so well.

Not only did he sound not interested in the game, but his attitude felt hostile to VR as a whole, asking the typical motion sickness questions and the stereotypical "VR games are short. Is this short too?" He would probably have loved to ask "why is this exclusive?" too I bet.

Nobody asks why are Nintendo's games exclusive, though.
