I skimmed through the VOD, and whilst I appreciate the quality of the games many developers are making, in terms of big name excitement it's a D.

3-4 games I said to myself "ye that's not bad"

Which is more than most of these half baked shit shows. So a B

I gave it a C-. Nintendo did its own thing. Sony had a great showing a few days ago and MS is tomorrow. I don't think Jeff had a lot to work with. It's was mostly indies, small AA, and DLC announcements. All the major players are doing their own thing this time of year. I can see the Summer Games Feat show dying out and all of JK's focus going to The Video Game Awards.

Pretty bad I must say. Besides the new RGG game and RE9 nothing really interesting for me. I liked the Sony state of play much more.

But that's the problem, Sony get some good announcements and Microsoft probably will also have some, so all the stuff that didn't find a spot in these other 2 events ended up here.
same i still do not get the hate for that sop

I've never seen so much anime slop in my life. These people are aware that the overlap between gaming and japanese cartoons is not actually that big right?

Seen a bunch of pretty cool trailers. Not watched the full show tho. Were there any cozy games / narrative walking sims? Annapurna stuff etc?

All I know is that I am glad I no longer stay up silly bollocks hours anymore thanks to what little proper sleep I get because of my little one.

Not worth staying up for mediocre conferences when I can see the core trailers in the morning. Best way UK side.

Sony SoP destroyed SGF all the way

I thought it was boring. I know Geoff makes bank by selling ad time, but there were just too many gacha, mobile, FP2 games. Not many AAA game announcements either. Easily the worst show from his team in years.

I gave it a D. Way too much indie slop, PC jank that you know is going to be a year late and barebones in Early Access (sorry to all those who got excited about Chronicles Medieval), and stuff that just looked stupid.

That said with my newfound desire to be positive I will list what I did like:
Game of Thrones RTS - in 2003 this would have been the biggest game of the year, but a new high end licensed RTS is great, we'll see how it turns out.
Onimusha - looks great
Dying Light The Beast - looks great
The Cube - I didnt play Atomic Heart but this and AH2 considering this eam is more experienced now could turn out really interesting
Killer Inn - ok so this looked like the most interesting multiplayer game in the show by far.

RE9 too soon to tell but we all know it's going to be good.

Stranger than Heaven, Onimusha (although I hope the whole game won't just have blu/green tinted ruined environments to save on the budget..) and RE9 saved the show which was generally really weak.
SoP was actually better 🤭 "pie_tears_joy:

Aside from boobs and ass and UE5 visuals giving the industry a semblance of quality, this is the worst videogame show I can recall.
Plenty of worse shows in recent years.
And thank god re9 is not using that dogshit ue5 crap of an engine

It's the worst SGF show I remember.

Capcom with RE9+Onimusha+SF6 plus RGG Studio and maybe Iron Heart 2 was the only stuff that deserved to be in one of these 'E3' conferences.

Most of the rest stuff was mediocre or bad stuff that had a better fit in PC Gaming Show or the rest of these terribly boring indie game shows.

It was solid minus the weird sales advertisements that popped up through out the show. I mean, I get that its a sponsored event, but com'on, Geoff.

I would also encourage publishers to rely less on CGI trailers that actually don't say anything about how the game plays.

C - for me personally it was way more interesting than the SoP games 🤷‍♂️
Same here. Show overall was a waste of time but there was more stuff for me there than what was shown in the SoP.

Stranger than Heaven, Chronicles Medieval, End of Abyss, Mina The Hollower, Atomic Heart II and more stuff I'm forgetting about lol.

Anime, just like videogames, is more mainstream than ever man, specially among young people.

As per usual, content is very high quality, but the presentation is just so overwhelming and overlong very little stands out as memorable.

So hmmm, as a show, C maybe? I feel mean given the quality of the work on show. But goddamn, a 2hr trailer show is hard work to sit through.
