Seeing as you seem to struggle with GaaS let me just give you a real quick tip to sucess :

Please develop a Helldivers 2 type game set in W40K. All you need to do is pour some of that Concord like budget into it and make sure the game engine is solid.

First year : Just do Ultima Segmentum part. 4 man Squad of Catachan. Just do imperial guard units at first with all the gear that comes with it.
Put in Tyranids, Orks, maybe Tau. And as you scale through expansions put Necrons, Deamons and Chaos Space Marines. Obviously introduce Space Marines as playable characters.

You dudes are just literally sitting on a gold mine and wasting ressources with slop like Fairgames, TLOU online, Concord , Marathon and so on.

Space Marines 2 is successful. Helldivers 2 is successful. More people are getting introduced to W40K. What the fuck are you doing?

PS: I said Sony but I mean MS could do it too. Actually instead of casually waiting for Helldivers 2 to come out on Xbox platforms I'm surprised these fuckers didn't develop their own Helldivers game based on 40K. They have the ressources.

Why would they even want to license out the Warhammer IP when they could just further build upon the Helldivers franchise with a separate developer, bring that concept to life within the Resistance IP (of which the never-greenlit 4th entry would've been all about the human invasion of the Chimera homeworld) or simply develop another new IP that they'd have full ownership of versus the Warhammer license.

Because this Helldivers 2 format as so much potential in terms of enemies, worlds, weapons and lore if it was based in W40K universe.

They can keep updating Helldivers 2 with content but I would skip Helldivers 3 on PS6 and make sure to secure that W40K game.

Also in terms of cosmetic micro transactions, they would be making a killing. Just see how many people are excited for year 2 cosmetics for Space Marines 2.

Might as well have titled this thread "Dear Santa" because he's just as likely to listen to this make believe wishlist as Sony would be.
Well purpose of GaaS is to make money right? Seeing a surge of W40K games so it's not out of this realm.

Helldivers 2 format fits so well, actually there are some rumors of 40K Collab .. I need a full blown game with the triple AAA budget.

Helldivers 2 is held up by performance issues, game engine and as much as I love the franchise, it would pale to the coolness of playing jungle Catachan fighters dispatching Xenos or playing a Space Marine in Terminator armor killing loads of Tyranids. Hell the dreadnoughts are already in game...

On a new engine you could make the maps bigger, include land speeders, get rid of the 4 player limit (which current devs would like to but once again limited by everything I mentioned up there).

Dear Sony, I wrote you, but you still ain't callin'...

Dear Sony, please don't do that
What do you want them to do? More CoD, Overwatch clones and extraction crap?

Like I said W40K persistent galatiic war is match made in heaven for this. It blows my mind all these suits rather waste ressources , money on all these failed projects instead of a sure fire game.

You should have a look at Space Hulk: Deathwing for a coop style warhammer shooter in case you missed it, think you'll dig it.

Technically Games Workshop does, and they could just do what. Microsoft is doing and license out some 40k characters for Helldivers. A hell of a lot cheaper than developing a whole new game.

having said that, more games in the 40k universe across the entire ten thousand year history from when the Crusades started to where they are now would definitely be welcomed.

It blows my mind all these suits rather waste ressources , money on all these failed projects instead of a sure fire game.
A lot of the biggest games out right now started out as shots in the dark. They only seem like sure fire hits in hindsight. I'd rather see developers and publishers try for new things.

Instead of a 40k Helldivers 2 clone, do more interesting things with the property.

Sony please ignore this twat and give us a new socom instead.
Is there need for name calling? Also I think a Socom game would flop in a world with Battlefield, and CoD. Probably would please old Sony fans but that's not how they would make money, which is the purpose of GaaS.

It's like me asking for a current gen Joint Opérations or Soldier of Fortune, wouldn't work.

I don't want an exact clone but for Helldivers 2 style of game play. Clearly the game is limited in scope.

In a world swarmed with Dark Souls clones I don't think it's too much to asked for a game to improve upon the formula with a license that's match made in heaven for it.

No one cares about GaaS push from Sony. That's why they all failed or didn't see the light of day.

Socom at least can appease long time fans and in this day and age can follow a simple seasonal pass model, while also having a legit chance to be a competitive e sport like rainbow six siege.

Done right it'll give them and me what I want.

Win win.

I think something like MAG would work better with 40k. A take on your Helldivers 2 idea, but players all choose a chapter/faction when they first launch the game and it's either Co-Op or PvP/PvE based on the faction or where you are in the galaxy. Or what time period the current few seasons are in. The allegiance and who you're against/loyal to changes on who your faction's leader is doing.

Imagine you're pledged to Magnus the Red and you're occasionally doing Co-Op stuff with your friends and one day you log in and he's joined in the rebellion and now you have to go hunt down your friend who's still loyal. That would be fun.

Once again nothing sets it out from the overcrowded market of shooters. It's just another failed project based on nostalgia.

Current crop of gamers wouldn't leave Fortnite and CoD to go play that.

Here it's where your argument fails. It's not that they don't want. The issue is that they can't. You are asking for a kind of talent that current Sony or MS don't have. So they need to acquire it or cultivate it, which takes time and vision. You don't get that overnight.

You really don't think they have the talent? They do. I don't know on what type budget Helldivers 2 got but it's clearly not AAA.

At least I hope they are getting those fancy offices like Housemarque.

Seems to me they lack vision more than talent.

Some of the choices of games being pushed out have been baffling to say the least😐

I just think outside of PD and Bungie, Sony doesn't have it in them to pull off any GAAS. They should leave that up to 3rd parties, secure strategic relationships where they think they can make a big bet, like helldivers, and continue curating studios that make good single player games, with multiplayer components IF applicable. Everything else they do seems like a waste of time and money.

Are you sure that you don't prefer instead a game with ugly, androginous, uncharismatic, bossy, non-white, bald, LGTB females who fight against the evil, sexist, racist, fascist and lgtbphobic white males, while showing and lecturing about how empowered, independent they are, proving they are smarter, stronger, faster and more capable than these guys?

MLB The Show and Helldivers 2 are very successful Sony GaaS. Very likely others in the works like Marvel Tokon too.
Make sure at a 100% that they'll do it. Plus collabs with Alien, Terminator, Star Wars or Deep Rock Galactic.

Good point on MLB and I agree. Agree with Helldivers and Tokon as well and that's exactly the strategy I was recommending. 3rd party deals instead of internal studios wasting their energy doing things that are outside their strengths.

They didn't even bother to get the Starship Troopers license for Helldivers 2, why would they bother getting the Warhammer license?

Why would Sony do it and not GW license it to Netease/Tencent?
Sony is not that versed in GaaS to pay for license when they have quite a few IP of their own suitable for live service games

You even stated it in your post, Space Marine 2 exists. They've announced a Y2 roadmap and Space Marine 3 in the works. I don't know why anyone else would develop something so similar.

Who said I hated GaaS? Those are the best selling and most replayable games. I loved Death Stranding 2 to death but once you beat it, it's kinda one and done. There's a reason peeps keep going back to Helldivers 2.
It wasn't really directed out you, but I can see why it looks that way.

Both games have nothing in common lol have you played either Helldivers 2 or Space Marine 2?

Sure they're both 3rd person shooters but that's about it. It's like saying we don't need DoW 4 because Space Marines 2 exists.

Also year one doesn't have to be playable Space Marines. They can focus on these bad boys.

I don't think a SOCOM game would flop. It wouldn't do COD or Battlefield numbers, but I think it would make returns that Sony would be happy with, so long as they kept their expectations in check.

Insurgency, Arma (number 4 coming), Delta Force, Squad already exist. I personally think it would get lost in the sauce.

Oh also Gray Zone Warfare coming too.

I mean I guess it's their loss, they've been chasing after GaaS success and most of their efforts fell flat or cancelled games.
Yeah investing in that W40K licence would have been the better option instead of Concord, Marathon, Fairgames, and all the other mismanaged projects.

I love Helldivers 2, I love WH40K. Combine both with a team that has a big budget and let the good times roll.

Or you know, since they have a Halo crossover, chuck in the Covenant and the Flood. How cool would it be to see Ghosts flying around the battlefield as well as Banshees and Starships to fight. I'm sure it would be a case of working out a deal with Microsoft, but Helldivers is a great platform for this kind of stuff.

I mean yeah would be a perfect fit for the IP (40K), but I wouldn't trust Sony to deliver on that - Arrowhead isn't a Sony FP studio.

They should hire this guy, he will end the console wars in matter of months, with Sony gone Nintendo and Microsoft can do their thing with no issues everyone will be happy and Sony cultists will be in an asylum

Sony isn't good at GaaS, let's leave it to someone who can do it, and when such a game is successful, let's sprinkle some Sony money on it.
