If we've seen anything of this games gameplay so far it'll be little of delivering packages, at least, not without much more combat and bosses etc.lol i want his fuckedup mind in a survival horror game like Dead Space. Or something political like MGS. Sooo much better than delivering packages![]()
Now I will really preorder instead of standard physical copy on June 26 launch day, since its physical copy and cool cover. If its confirmed to come out in the west, I will get one.
I promised myself I wouldn't watch this but I couldn't help it. I'm watching it now, holy fuck at that Tomorrow scene, this is going to be so cool.
Yes it's the quality mode at likely native 4K (maybe even higher on Pro). But there is a 60fps performance mode too that is pretty good and the mode to use according to people who previewed the game.Framerate looked quite bad, poor capture or high res mode with choppy 30 frames ?
It looks good but yeah not impressed with the Pro.

Bro I'm the same. In fact my woman and child are away for 2 weeks so I'm completely free. Talk about good timing!Got the week off DS2 releases and can't wait to build a zip-line network in the new world.
Having a blast revisiting 'rollercoaster-mountains' in DS1 right now:

I don't know. Kojima was done with MGS but Konami just wanted more money.I understand there were reasons why Kojima left Konami, I was never "Fuck Konami." person, and I do appreciate that nowadays they are doing good to bring back trust of players, but...
For all his quirks, that guy is a true gold as a creator - maybe, just maybe it was a huge mistake to let go of such a talent.
Visually it looks great, especially giving a sense of vastness to the landscape which games are rarely good at.
Overall I got the impression that it will have the same issue that DS1 has, which is that it has a novel and well developed primary mechanic and loop (traversal and deliveries) but which they feel they cannot rely on for dramatic story moments (or for a marketing event like this apparently) and so for those moments you will be interrupted and forced to engage with the vastly inferior secondary mechanics (combat). Kojima feels obliged to keep reminding the audience that it's a delivery game because that's absolutely not what they are choosing to demonstrate.
The gameplay section they chose to demonstrate seems to be a copy-paste of the Unger sections from DS1, which were already repeated beat for beat three times in DS1. More of these is the last thing I want from a DS sequel.
There was a comment made during the presentation that it will be possible to avoid combat, and I'm interested to know if that means 'about as much as you could avoid it in DS1' or if they've leaned into that even more. Hopefully the latter.
Me too. From June 26 up to August avoid videos and reviews. I hope gaf will be very careful as always with spoilers. I have a feeling this game might be the best game of this generation and possible game of the year.I need to blacklist DS2 on youtube soon. I dont want to get spoiled by stupid thumbnails
I was critical of DS1 at first but I bought the game due to the impressive DS2 video I got curious. And guest what? I got addicted in a good way to the game especially with the travel, deliveries, world building like roads, bridges etc and the game is catharsis in some day. The combat is okay , because its easy to pick up but still tactical and challenging. I dont want the game to turn into a souls game or like commandos or sudden strike complicated sneaking or call of duty or battlefield type of battles. The DS series is cozy, easy to pick up and cerebral in ways of world building and planning routes and deliveries.I think in one of the previews someone (might be SkillUp) said there are three ways most of the time... Combat, Stealth or avoiding it altogether while choosing the last option will have the consequence of missing content (cutscene maybe?)
I would have been fine if Kojima ditched combat for the sequel and either leaned into the delivery mechanic a bit more or incorporated some other pacifist stuff, but I understand that both critically and commercially he has to cater to people.
But I'm weird in the way that I thoroughly enjoyed DS1 even though I didn't use vehicles and only very rarely used zip lines. Second playthrough took me 90 hours, I enjoyed every second...
Really looking forward to DS2 and I hope Kojima Productions has some surprises for us. Maybe not a la MGS2, but something that no one saw coming even after the 4 day preview event where people could play about 30 hours. But I think it's 'just' a safe albeit high quality sequel sadly.
Yea i am aware, but since we haven't seen anything, these might as well be point n click adventuresFor any displeased Kojima fans entering DS threads, please look forward to 2027/2028.

In DS1 DC you can equip anything which is on your body from the radial menu.Going in and out of menus to change equipment/guns looked so awkward.. It's been a while since I played the first one, but you can quick equip with a radial menu for that, right...?
