Death Stranding 2: On the Beach |OT| Ain't That A Beach

BTW, Sticky guns are so crucial in this game. I skipped them all game but with all these hard S ranks, sticky guns help you retrieve a lot of those hard to reach cargo. In the mission impossible mission, a couple of the cargo are just sitting there outside and you can just pull them from a sticky gun. In fact, one guy is on a watchtower, i wonder if you can steal it from him as well. Need to test out the range.

Almost 2.8 million likes now and 220 S ranks.
Sticky guns are just fun. As soon as I was able to craft them, I always took one with me. Same in DS1. Just good times grabbing cargo left and right, catching even the XL cargo and either directly putting them on the back or loading them on one of my floating carriers. These simple mechanics are so satisfying to me it's ridiculous :messenger_sunglasses:

Having a lot of frustration coming across ceramics, metals, other loot things in a base in the main campaign missions and nowhere to put them. Can't carry them bc I'm already almost over limit. The tricruiser only has 15% but still says it can't add this type of item to the cruiser. Are we able to loot all these or not really ?

Use trucks. Tri cruiser only has two slots and if you have extra batteries, they go into those two slots.

You can carry a floating carrier and it will allow you to carry up to six extra large containers on a bike but even then you might have to offload some weapons.

That is where strategy matters. Try to carry more PCC and build post boxes near the area of the mission or campaign with chiral network coverage or use the postboxes that other players had build around that area. Just try to remember what post boxes you put the cargo. No worries about this cargo will be missing or stolen. Mules and other players cannot steal what you store in your private lockers, in the postboxes.

towards the end of the game, i was trying to build roads with 0 donated materials to try and see if i can get my damn name to appear on some of them. they required so many materials that i couldnt carry them all in my truck. thats when i realized what the post boxes were for. never used them before.

its a shame you dont get credit for when other people claim your materials. yes, they give you a 1000 likes for donating a lot of materials, but after donating literally 50k worth of metals and ceramics at mines and other shared lockers, i kinda gave up. never got a notification saying that people claimed my materials.

Yeah, this is what I noticed about this time about how everything is more separated by function.

Carriers are surprisingly capacious, 2 of them plus a bokka assisted backpack load = lots of cargo by foot.
Bikes are zippy and nimble, ideal for laying out the bones of zipline networks, postboxes and other structures that benefit from being placed intelligently.
Trucks have high capacity, but are relatively slow outside of upgraded roads, and generally work best when kitted out for the task at hand. e.g, battle mode, or full on roomba syphon mode. Yes, you can brute force them to basically use them for all situations off-road but your cargo will likely take a beating in the process.
Monorails are just awesome for mass transport of mats and vehicles, but being tied between mines and distro centres for the most part are mainly there to allow you to centralize materials/cargo at a given point for further distribution.
Magellan is the glue that holds it all together, but obviously you lose a lot of likes moving cargo using it. So the smart thing is to use it primarily to shift non-scored stuff like weapons and materials.

Ziplines though are the goto for speed and safety across any sort of terrain. It took me a bit to realize the utility of the alternative beam path because although making a parabolic connection between nodes is slower, its super useful on terrain that is blocked by a hill or some other obstacle that would otherwise require an extra zip to be deployed to complete the chain. For example there's a big permanent BT area between Pizza Guy and the Architect which can be crossed using only a couple of zips if you position it using the parabola mode, you just bunny-hop over the mountains that otherwise block line-of-sight.

Trying to get S ranks on all 400 side orders. Upto 320 now. Some of these timed ones are rough even with a zipline network. Especially the 1 minute 30 seconds ones where you have to be perfect even with ziplines. The last walk to the terminal is what kept killing me since the zipline was like a 100 yards away from the terminal. I tried a coffin board first, but it ended up damaging the cargo upon landing. Then i had the brilliant idea to put a jump ramp and landed right in front of the terminal. The game has this very zelda totk feel to it thanks to all all the different tools and systems. Sucks that only side orders really make you think.

There is another one where you have to go from Terminal Knot to South Knot in under 4 minutes and i kept getting there a second or two late even when driving perfectly. Looked online and apparently the speed of the truck is dependent on the amount of cargo, and how many different weapons/components you have equipped. And the anti-gravity units on the trucks lessen the weight of those components. Got there with over 10 seconds to spare. It's a very simple thing, but i love that the game makes you think outside the box and has systems there to exploit.

P.S There is a pro tip for anyone trying to five star everyone quickly. You get 500 extra likes for taking out enemies stealthily, and an extra 500 to simply take them out. Get a lot of different orders. Go to a nearby enemy base. Snipe a bunch of people. use rocket box on another few then call in golden hunters which will alert the enemies to your presence but by then you should have maxed out your stealth kills. You will get an additional 1000 likes on every order you turn in. So a small 100 like order can net you 1,100 likes.

God this game is so gorgeous

I am close to 90 hours, still in chapter 9.
I do every standard order at highest rank before moving on and also pickup stranded boxes to deliver.
These last 2 days i've been putting up a zip link network on the mountain and even went out of my way to connect the Chronobiologist with Metagenomicist by placing zip links on the mountain cliffs. Very satisfying and rewarding in the end.

I use the big car to carry not the bike. I used the big car almost the whole game.

As for ceramics, the mines could help. There are car upgrades that allow you to pick up ceramics while driving the big car.

A little tip on the ceramics, doing the side deliveries will build up how much each base will store. Each base will store over time + will store quickly with the monorail build.

It's like Gothic Animal Crossing you can build out a full functional economy. Then you go to each base as you are doing side quests and you can fill up the big car.

Also, I wouldn't put X resources here and then X resources someplace else. Finish what you are working on then go to the next thing because it just takes longer going back and forth.

I will admit this game has a BT problem. Namely that there are—apparently—a bunch of "catcher" BTs the average player is never gonna see.

I just did the king of the tar lake, and during the fight random other players would "spawn" and deploy BTs to assist me.

Of the 5 I saw, 3 of them I have never seen before, either in the first or second games. In both games, when I attempt to fight a BT, I always get those damn lions (alone or in groups)

It was cool to see these other BTs, but also it's kinda highlights how weird the BT encounter mechanics are in this game (disincentivizing encounters, relatively rare compared to the first game, easy to completely avoid, etc.)

A few pictures i'd like to share:

I was casually moving around the mountains with the first class zip line, when i saw Santa. I think he is going for a Legend of Legends of Legends rank, we'll see next holiday season.

Then i went all out gangsta style on my coffin board.

Went back to the mountains for a quick delivery and i was asked for directions to the nearest 7/11.

After everything was finished, went back to MHV to meet my girls.
