Death Stranding 2 will have a greater focus on “violence” hinting at more gunplay

I think the fighting sequences were the weakest part of DS. The most ingenious part (and it took me a long while to grok this) was the "asynchronous multiplayer". Finding a random ladder that someone put out there, just when you were about to give up, or driving back to the east coast towards the end of the game on a highway that you helped also to build (but didn't do yourself, by any means), was an experience I haven't had elsewhere. I hope the sequel doesn't forget that aspect.

Yes, this is what part one needed , good to hear more action Will be there, just imagine if it has just half the options of MGSV

I'm fine with them tightening up the "stick" gameplay and increasing it a little. But I'm there for the struggle and the tension/relief cycle of the "rope" gameplay. The simulated loneliness, the atmosphere and the gamified traversal are what do it for me (as well as the organisation of cargo). They also need to tighten up the interconnected part of it with other players; where the building of roads etc. feels more organic.

Planning and executing followed by the sense of accomplishment once you've weathered literal storms and arrived at your destination in good stead is what it's all about imo.

While it's my fave game of the last gen; a large chunk of the story I can take or leave, but it does have a heart (just the simple walk at the end and the final scene with BB was wonderful) and the batshit nature of it is what it is.

Cool. I just hope they strike a nice balance between the action and the quieter moments that made the first game so unique.
As a sequel, it has to bring something new to the table, but just don't go changing it up too much to appease people who didn't like the game at all.

I always laugh at people who complain there was no action in death stranding. There were like dozens of guns in that game. Kojima even had to release this poster to show that you dont have to play the game passively.

I was a killing machine by the end of the game. you just have to use non lethal rounds against human enemies to ensure you dont have to clean up the mess but other than that, the guns work the same way. against BTs, i was use RPGs like i was rambo.

Sounds awesome to me.

Death Stranding 2's only major flaw was the combat was basic and not fleshed out.

If they can strike a better balance of action combat in addition to the traversal mechanics it will be even more incredible than the original already was.

Exactly, lol.

And I barely used guns. I was stealth most of the time.

I thought the combat was unexpectedly solid in the first, I can imagine it getting great with some more attention put towards it.

not sure if I like that. I never used lethal methods in DS1 except against bosses and I thought they were kinda redundant. I'd love to see more ways of fighting against the terrain which in DS2 will be dynamic

i just want a more sophisticated system for claiming and cave exploration.

Full-blown spelunking could add another layer of "struggle" to the game. Would also be awesome to have large open cave areas that you reach, further adding a sense of relief or accomplishment at various stages on larger expeditions.

Potential for some beautiful sites too as well as integrating water as another hazard or traversal challenge...

Yep, YouTube has been recommending these kinds of videos

Sounds like an admission of failure. He didn't succeed in making a game solely based on walking and fighting the environment.

Hope it's better than the gunfights in the first game.

There was absolutely no challenge in the first game, the mules were just not a menace at all and the BTs weren't really a problem after the 10 hour mark.

I just hope the pacing is improved in the second game. I'm still early on in the first one, but I can already tell that parts of this game are gonna be a slog. Or at least that's the impression I've been given.

It sounds to me like people constantly whining and begging, wanting him to be typecasted into to making a specific type of game when he keeps trying to make other types of games and experiences.

I guess people just want Death Stranding Stealth Action, then OD Stealth Action, then Physint Stealth Action 🤷‍♂️
