NXT really just needs to be it's own thing. A place where guys can have full careers in a product under the WWE name, but without the pressure to advance to the main roster. If that happened, there could be more room for NXT Showcase matches on PPVs, bigger guest superstar appearances, but NXT would be otherwise left alone to do it's own thing with the WWE machine behind it.

I wonder why they won't do this.

Have NXT be for wrestling fans, WWE can be for the family friendly crowd where people like Cena and Uso's are gods.

You know the biggest screw up WWE currently has? Brock Lesnar. He's the fucking champ and hasn't been even on the product in months. You would think he would appear every once in a while. It's really disgusting when they stripped Daniel Bryan recently for not being able to compete and Brock is going to wind up being out of a WWE ring for about as long as Bryan has been.

They also made a big deal about CM Punk walking out with the title in 2011. They've always made a big deal about any champion not being able to compete at least once in a 30 day period.

That's not even the worst of it though. The product goes on like it's regular business for the champ to not even be there. Like it's a day to day thing for them to have to book around not having the champ for months at a time. It's getting hard for me to even consider Brock as a true champ, because he doesn't defend the belt like a champion does.

Brock stuck to his written contract. WWE is at fault for agreeing to so few dates. Would you work for more than you were contracted to when you financially didn't have to?

Yes, some people are still paying attention. TNA will debut on Destination America. I'm curious what it'll look like and how it goes. There's also talk of TNA doing an American version of their British Boot Camp series, which I think is probably a bigger draw than Impact.

What? MMA in a Wrasslin' thread? Seriously though, keep an eye on Bellator. They're bringing a LOT of wrasslin' ideas into MMA and could very well be worth watching. I'm goddamn serious.

At the very least you have Paul Heyman out every so often working with Brock's interests in mind. At least do something storyline wise to remind people that you have a champion.

NoC really killed his angle and aura. The whole thing was the Brock was a DESTROYER. Basically a demi-god. Beat the dog shit out of Big Show at Rumble. Conquered the streak at WM. Absolutely demolished Cena at Summerslam. This dude is a monster and unbeatable. Then NoC comes around and it's your basic Cena match where he kicks out of the F5, breaks the kimura 3 times, and then would have beaten Brock had Seth not hit the ring. Now he's back to just being another guy. 9 months of build completely squandered in one night. And then he vanishes for the next 3 months.

The whole NoC match combined with the absense makes you forget about Brock The Destroyer....hell, it makes you forget they even have a champ.

but the first time he shows his face on TV again you can guarantee cole will be blasting on an airhorn "CENA WAS WITHIN INCHES OF BEATING BROCK"

Yeah, I don't understand why this guy who took endless finishers and was saved from losing by Seth Rollins (who then curb stomped him) is supposed to be some intimidating monster training in a gym everyday somewhere. He just looks like a loser who's afraid to show his face.

--Regarding English commentary on New Japan World, it was addressed last night and Takaaki Kidani said they were looking into doing so. Nothing on an English language web site, but New Japan already has an English language regular site so that could be coming. There was some talk about how the Muhammad Ali vs. Antonio Inoki match is not on the site, and that's generally considered the most important match in New Japan history. There are really a ton of major matches not up, particularly a lot of great Choshu's Army stuff from 1982-83. One thing that hit me watching the 80s stuff is just how much more of a fight feel there was to the matches, how they felt less pre-planned and just how much bigger the promotion was then. But there is a ton of great stuff including the Inoki vs Billy Robinson match from 1975, Inoki & Sakaguchi vs. Lou Thesz & Karl Gotch, Inoki vs. Hulk Hogan (more than one), Inoki & Bob Backlund vs. Hogan & Stan Hansen, Inoki vs. Bruiser Brody (at least two including a 60 minute draw with no commentary), Every January 4th Tokyo Dome match ever held, plus the New Japan vs. All Japan matches from the 1990 Dome show which never aired on television when they took place and also have no commentary. Every PPV from the last couple of years is up. The bar on the bottom blows away the WWE Network and the navigation is much better (if you use Google Chrome to translate). The audio and sound quality is amazing.

--Takaaki Kidani didn't give any numbers, but he said today how surprised he was at how many people outside Japan signed up. He said nothing about domestic numbers, but said outside Japan orders blew away expectations.

Brock indeed looked weak as fuck that night. For no reason too

Ivory Tower is "really trying to get parity across all versions, so it's something that’s important to us not to branch out and not do individual things for individual platforms."

I'm done with faux competition. NXT is cool, and I honestly think the best hour of programming the WWE put out, whether the talent is destined for the top or not. But would it still be the best hour on TV if Bo Dallas and Big E were still in the main event scene?

Nah, what makes it cool is the changing talented faces keeping things fresh. So long as they keep hiring great talent, even if they only stay on NXT for a year or two, NXT will probably remain the best hour of TV.

Part of that is people putting on great performances precisely to get the call up too. Would the matches be as good without that?

Maybe... but I like it as it is, and change *is* going to come to the WWE. Maybe not next year, maybe not the year after... but Cena isn't wrestling a schedule that sees him through another five years as the main guy. He either wrestles a lot less, or his career is ending in the next few years.

Either way... they'll need other talent to plug that gap.

If they don't go willingly... it's still going to happen. Maybe it's Roman and he becomes Cena 2.0 for the next decade... but frankly, Roman is a long way away from being the talent Cena is. Maybe he can get there... but you need a real talent to do what Cena has done, whether we like it or think he could have been used in a million better ways or not.
