Cinemablend:

The way that the mechs, called Jaegers in the movie, work is that two pilots are hooked up through a neural bridge and can control the machine with their own movements.

Makes sense for them to be wearing some sort of armored suit rather than the typical fighter pilot gear.

So ...if it is 2 people controling the same robot with movements ... than the pilots .... the pilots need to..... synchronize themselfs ?

When it comes to monster designs Del Toro is second to none. I'm sure he even has some crazy ideas carried over from at the mountain of madness.

The Evangelion-sounding plot sure interesting. Having Charlie Hunnam and Rinko Kikuchi as the two leads just add to the appeal.

Having said that the two in their plugsuit do look a bit like Shinji and Rei and makes me also wonder if the plot was salvaged from that aborted live-action Evangelion movie.

Also Hunnam without the beard looks a bit like Scott Speedman (Underworld, The Strangers).

Didn't expect them to be that huge.

Guess XiaNaphyrz wasn't kidding when he said we couldn't imagine the scale of some of the stuff in this film.

WOW that is.. huge! Honeycomb pattern in sci-fi designs need to die tough. Movie will be still be awesome.

Robot design is not what I expected (not in a good way) but I'm still on board.

Wonder if all the robots will be that big because that's the biggest robot I've ever seen! lol

Looking decent so far. Doesn't look retarded like a Gundam, nor as bad as the original "Hollywood generic design" statement we had earlier. Could look better, sure, but it's decent. It's huge as holy fuck, which I like. Can't wait to see it in action whenever the trailer hits.

Meh, that mech looks like the Crisis suit. Sucks that they went with a generic look for the mechs, in a movie like this it needs to be more stylized.

We built command centres of the robots that were the size of the house. We started them on hydraulic rigs that shoot and elevated them and moved them round so you could really get a sense of the physical nature driving a robot like this."

The way that the mechs, called Jaegers in the movie, work is that two pilots are hooked up through a neural bridge and can control the machine with their own movements.

It's obvious that they're in the command centre of the mech in that pic. Considering it takes two pilots to operate the mechs, it's also obvious that they connect their suits to the equipment shown in that pic. Just connecting the dots in case anyone missed it.

This could well be fantastic. The ridiculous size of the robot gives me hope that Del Toro is going to ignore silly things like logic and physics. The less of those two the better this film will be.

Why do robots even have heads? Wouldn't it be more efficient to have the command centre of the robot at the centre?

Because a headless robot would look stupid. And having the command centre in the head allows it to detach and operate as a separate vehicle. Duh.

Also refer to my previous post about logic.

Im not really digging what we are seeing so far, but I know the monster designs will be fantastic due to Del Toro.. I hope this movie isn't too cheesy, it could really be fun.

The scale of this movie is going to be fucking epic. Hopefully this convinces Toho to bring Godzilla out of retirement and get that new movie up and going.
