Destiny 2 |OT| Here We Go Again

Have any of you guys encountered a bug where the screen goes completely dark and you have to restart the game. It's happened a few times and its starting to get annoying.

The sound design in this game is not good. Literally nothing has any impact or heft to it and it's really hampering my enjoyment of the gunplay.

that sounds like the playstation pro/1080 crash... (other systems and resolutions got it also...)
Error code CE-34878-0?

Bungie is investigating since 3 days... no fix so far. I had like 50+ crashes in the last 3 days...

Not feeling the new Sunbreaker at all. I don’t like how the perks are grouped with either option. Limiting the healing melee to the sunspot build, and making the melee only activate with a shoulder charge for the other build is horrible. Sunspots always seemed like a bad idea in a game where you’re constantly on the move, and now i’m forced to use the build no one liked if i want to heal with solar damage.

After playing around with both builds, it looks like Striker will be my secondary focus after all. RIP Sunbreaker.

Just finished my first lost sector. I have to see I think Bungie have done a much better job creating the sense of exploration.
Also the reward was subclass relic, which feels quite a meaningful loot than just some engrams.

Subclass relic was actually just a random drop after hitting level 8, but I agree that lost sectors are awesome. And there seems to be so many! I absolutely love what they did with the patrol modes.

The sound mixing definitely is a bit off, I already mentioned it in the beta. The ambient sounds in particular are lacking. Explosions could use some more heft as well, though most of the guns I've tried so far sound ok. The music is by far the best sounding part of Destiny 2. The lack of audio options are terrible as well, it's literally just one master volume slider which is utterly useless.

No idea what people are on about in this thread with the "best in class sound design" claims in this thread.

I've got to strongly disagree with this so far. The positional audio has been good and while I'm not a fan of some of the gun sounds - a few of the auto rifles sound very piddly and too laser-gun-ish - some of them are incredible. Hand cannons, shotguns, and sidearms in particular have sounded amazing so far. In particular there's a fully automatic Suros sidearm that has a ceramic slamming sound every time the slide kicks back that is just sooooo good.

Guns are inconsistent, just depends on which ones you get. The first 2 Titan ones in the campaign sounded like crap. All the hand cannons are very satisfying for sure.

I think the sound design is great, but I'm only using headphones. With that said, unlike most here I think the soundtrack is terrible. Not because the songs themselves are bad, but because it's disjointed and not aligned with whats going on most of the time. Too much "epic" orchestral stuff going on all the time like every moment is the arc, just sounds like noise to me after a while and lacks any subtelty, very grating.

Failsafe's jokes are incredibly corny but I think it works for me because she's used relatively sparingly. Cayde-6, ever since Taken King, has become this awful mascot character who just vomits first-draft Marvel movie dialogue for eternity. He seriously sucks so much and he is so transparently a character written into the story to undercut any serious dialogue or plot development. It comes off to me in a lack of confidence in the writing; Cayde is just there to MST3K their own damn story.

I've been looking for a servitor to kill in EDZ for the past hour now for this stupid challenge. Haven't come across a single one.

Fuck.

I just realized I should have gone with the Warsat Exotic gauntlets for my Aggressor playstyle.

Is there a say to procure them after Sloane gifts them to you?

Beat the story tonight. So much better than D1. It had a similar pacing and length but the story was just told much better and it was just an overall better storyline.

Now to decide if I want to grind or level up a warlock or hunter. Right now my Titan is 205 and looks horrible. Seriously the Titan armor is just hideous so far.

That... is a pretty good way to describe Cayde. Haven't liked him since they upped his on-screen time in The Taken King (to be fair, he basically didn't exist prior to that but y'know).

Right!? Sounds like a malfunctioning AI.

Pretty sure this post is sarcastic but she doesn't even sound like she's malfunctioning, also that's not an excuse for terrible writing. Her decent self is okay but the one-liners or lines that her fucky side gets are just AWFUL. It could be the delivery too because sometimes she says the lines in some funky ways and I just sit back and ask myself if someone actually read it like that...it's not good.

The guy on Io is a little fuck too. God damn is he so annoying. Hawthorne and Devrim are sick though. Like their relationship a lot.

It's weird to me. Something is off about the campaign in this game. It's not good I don't think. Better than D1...I think? Like theres something off about this game and it's campaign. I feel like I'm getting nothing out of it storywise besides: Get here>Talk to him/her okay now do the same here on this other planet.

I'm just playing through this and I feel nothing. The times I do feel something is when I look up and see these HUUUUUGE objects in the skies. On...Io? when you look up and see Jupiter was amazing. The scale is great!

This story feels SO dumbed down and monotonous. Mission design, though better than 1, just isn't that great. AGHHH. Idk...there's something off about the whole thing. I was thinking that it could be the fact that you're not constantly going back to the Tower/HUB every now and then? Just doesn't have that continuity and cohesion that D1 had believe it or not.

Now, I'm not saying the story is worse here because it's certainly not but the missions aren't cohesive. It feels all jumbled and a bit of a mess to be honest.

I really just want the campaign to be over already so I can hop on this grind or whatever and start branching out into different objectives.

Not feeling it. Hopefully it amps up.

failsafe is the disney sidekick put in to make kids laugh
ghaul is the hammy comic book villain
cayde is the obnoxious raccoon from those shitty guardians of the galaxy movies

ok i reached level 273, finished all the milestones, done 2 exotic weapon quests

should i wait for next week to play again or is there something worth playing ?

I've been looking for a servitor to kill in EDZ for the past hour now for this stupid challenge. Haven't come across a single one.

What area in EDZ are you looking? There are a couple public events that spawn loads of them, and there are areas where they are more likely to spawn normally than others. I started that same challenge and looked for a couple minutes without finding any, then forgot about it and did a public event. After the event I went back to my challenges and noticed it had completed.

It should be clear to you by now nobody's really on board with you on that take no matter how many times you bring it up, Ghaleon.

I'm almost in the same boat, just have to get the MIDA quest done.

I don't think there's anything left to do, just wait for Xur to come and fuck around.

you're right, rocket raccoon is much worse

Can there be an opinion this wrong? Hooooly mooooly. Just kidding, though I don't agree. Curious as to why you dislike Rocket Raccoon? The best MCU character.

Ugh...gonna sit down tomorrow after classes and have a good long session with it to really get my thoughts compiled.

Just did that one challenge that was asked about, and yeah to kill 40 enemies in the New Pacific Arcology, anything inside the actual structure will work, so head east from the Rig landing zone, over the broken bridge into the arcology, any kills in i.e. Solarium, Arboreturm, Festering Halls)

Really? With the cans on it sounds terrific

I'm definitely not a failsafe fan. Sounds like poor mans version of gladdos from portal.

Cayde still makes me laugh, but they hammed him up too much. He is better when the writing is channeling Firefly. Thus character is saved by Nathan Fillion

Completed flashpoint which got me the wardcliff coil, which is dope and great for public events. Managed to complete a heroic public event with it. It got me some exotic boots and now I'm finally nightfall ready for tomorrow. Got a lot accomplished today and it feels great.

Rocket Raccoon is p alright based on the first movie. Dunno if they push it a bit too much in the second.

Cayde is a symptom of writers all unanimously deciding that "personality" = snarky/witty characters and calling it a day. Like characters poking fun at Eris Morn is at least sorta endearing but when everything is poked fun at, nothing carries any weight. The scenes with Ghaul are actually pretty alright but like XanderCage said, they undermine a lot of the game with too much levity and a (perceived) lack of care.

Also NolanBot is another problem but I haven't liked the ghost as "your" voice at all. At least Dinklage had a certain dryness that was actually sort of reminiscent of Halo (and I enjoyed that sort of dry dialogue for what it was). NolanBot, Cayde, and every other character just trying to crack wise, it gets suffocating and grating.

Level 260.

Yeah so - I didn't hold onto to engrams or tokens-just played naturally and turned them in when I got them.

i never got Mida Multi-tool in Destiny 1, but Mida multi-tool in Destiny 2 is fucking awesome and helped me a lot in finishing the Nightfall

Wow, what a great post.

How about asking what his set up is? If he has a subwoofer or headphones with decent bass? Nah, let's just pile on his opinion instead.

No Xur first week huh? That's ok, it's raining loot in D2 so no complaints from me. I'm steadily grinding my warlock light up and having a blast. So much to do and I'm taking my time, haven't even started a second character yet.

I've looked around Trostland, Outskirts, Winding Cove, the Gulch, and Firebase Hades.

I know public events can spawn them, but I haven't run into any that are spawning them. So I guess I'm just extremely unlucky in finding one more.
