Destiny 2 |OT| Here We Go Again

Wow Bungie's attention to detail is just outstanding. Been sitting on Io looking at Jupiter descending and rising during the cycles. You can also see the other moons slowly passing by.

Just breathtaking

So what did everyone pick from the strike for their first legendary weapon?

I got a choice of:

191 - Origin Story
189 - Nightshade
189 - Nameless Midnight

All look good so I'm undecided.

The sound design in this game is not good. Literally nothing has any impact or heft to it and it's really hampering my enjoyment of the gunplay.
Sounds great through my 5.1 setup, amazing actually. Done all the testing I assume? PS audio output settings correct etc.?

Man I don't know what kind of equipment one of these guys had, but in a public events earlier we were rolling in heavy ammo. I don't think I'll ever see so many purple ammo boxes again.

I kinda hate playing through the campaign with friends. I like to take things slow and take in the scenery and listen to the story and explore the lore at a decent pace but my friends just wanna plow right through everything. It goes so fast I'm not sure what the hell is going on and what my objectives are. All I know is shoot shoot shoot. That's fun too, though xD

Should I have gone with Feedback Fence for run and gun/fast/twitch/melee playstyle or is Fang Pauldron OK?

Can I get FbF again soon?

Anyone...?

I was in party chat with my buddy while we were both playing through the first bit of the game, up until we could actually group up, and I realized how slowly I play as well. I started 20 mins before him and he caught up and passed me eventually.

I'm gonna have disagree with you on this one

You're crazy.

I've got to strongly disagree with this so far. The positional audio has been good and while I'm not a fan of some of the gun sounds - a few of the auto rifles sound very piddly and too laser-gun-ish - some of them are incredible. Hand cannons, shotguns, and sidearms in particular have sounded amazing so far. In particular there's a fully automatic Suros sidearm that has a ceramic slamming sound every time the slide kicks back that is just sooooo good.

I feel like I'm taking crazy pills, given the reactions. I hated the audio in the beta, and it was one of the main reasons I barely played it. Here my scout rifle is this little plip plip, hand cannons sound like shoes slapped on a floor, I just got a sniper rifle and it has the impact of a book being closed. There's not a single hard, metal on metal sound in the game so far. It reminds me of Halo 4 in how everything sound artificial and processed and soft.

I just got to the EDZ and explored a bit, and it's clear the place is huge, intricate and there's a lot going on. Some great design work at play. But I just cannot get into the gunplay and the audio is a huge factor. Like, I don't just dislike it. It's awful and takes the game down several notches. I just closed the game in the middle of a mission because I got straight up bored in the middle of a battle. :\

Is 265+ just getting exotics to bump up legendaries? Still haven't seen one drop over 265. Finally got the last Scout Rifle for my Mida, that last part of the quest must suck for anyone that's not a Warlock.

ok finished pretty much everything, level 274, now i need to wait for next week to play

does Xur arrive Friday like before or Tuesday ?

I have played a few hours a day and have loads of stuff left to do.

I'm having a blast with a friend, but I get your point. He's completely new to Destiny so I'm spending a lot of time explaining things, and a lot of the dialogue is missed or talked over. We're also goofballs so that doesn't help...but still, he's a guy who mocked me endlessly for being so into D1, and he seems to really be enjoying himself after buying D2 on a whim, so I'll take it. I may end up replaying the campaign solo eventually though.

According to that one image Xur isn't going to come around the first weekend before the raid, so his first appearance might not be until 9/15. I hope it is inaccurate because grabbing a piece of gear to carry with you into the raid was really cool that first week of Destiny.

Not feeling the new Sunbreaker at all. I don’t like how the perks are grouped with either option. Limiting the healing melee to the sunspot build, and making the melee only activate with a shoulder charge for the other build is horrible. Sunspots always seemed like a bad idea in a game where you’re constantly on the move, and now i’m forced to use the build no one liked if i want to heal with solar damage.

After playing around with both builds, it looks like Striker will be my secondary focus after all. RIP Sunbreaker.

Personally I'm really digging it. I'm mourning the loss of health regen on the go but it seems like that just isn't Sunbreaker's "thing" anymore. It just deals some massive AoE damage. Code the Fire-Forged is the main AoE spec and it just deals insane damage but only if you target red health enemies to trigger the explosion (that's where the big numbers come from). Feels damn powerful during Public Events.

I've noticed that Code of the Siegebreaker is amazing for boss damage too. If you stay in the sunspot and don't move, you basically become a Hammer Cannon of Fiery Doom and it extends the length of the super by AT LEAST double the original time. With the Sunspots ticking for DoT everytime you place them, you get some nice damage going, plus your grenade and melee are recharging while in the Sunspot so when super is over, you got those back.

Definitely is different than before. I'd argue it might actually be the weakest Titan subclass, but when things line up nicely it really kicks ass imo.

I think you should check (or change) your audio setup. I'm using a 5.1 HT system, and the sound design is crazy good.
If you have a good system with a subwoofer, and you are still not getting satisfactory results, you might have DRC enabled somewhere, or using too low volume levels.

don't worry, Destiny 2 launch content is already much more than i thought

I know what you're referring to with the processed quality of the sounds.

It's like they were either made or passed through a heavy synthesizer

They're going for that "futuristic" reverberating wub wub pulse sound.

It's punchy, but it doesn't sound real.

Is this a game you need to sink a lot of time into to get anywhere? I don't play FPSs but I'm kinda curious to see what all the fuss is about and I've got some friends playing. Is it a game I can have fun playing just on weekends?

i read that Xur's currency now is legendary shards, if it's true then that's disappointing

Strange coins were unique and rare, now everyone will be able to get everything from Xur easily

Yeah you right. Next Friday it is!

Is there some way to get shards outside of dismantling legendaries?

It’s correct. It’s straight from bungies weekly update
For those new to destiny bungie releases a blog update about destiny every Thursday

As I expected, doing public events is generally a race between the players trying to activate the heroic and the newbies that are just completing the regular objective.

I'm going to start picking up the scorch guns and firing them into space until the ammo runs out. That's not why I'm unlocking the force fields guys!

Also, the Voidwalker's Devour Ability is crazy. Punched my way through entire Thrall hordes.

i still have stuff to do but in less than 10 hours I'm 20 and have like 270 power. Playing with friends makes the already easy game even easier. Sorry it doesn't take some people 3 weeks to progress?

Asking again since I think my original post got buried last night, but am I missing something here? Played for 4 hours or so in a variety of story and adventures but no random players have been with me. Is there something I need to change in settings or have I just been unlucky? I've set my Fireteam settings so that anyone can join but still nothing.

Strikes.

that pyramidion strike is amazing, real vault of glass vibes.

Platform?

I know there was an issue with Xbox users that was being looked into, if psn not sure, what's your NAT, as type 3 would restrict who you can be paired with.

i have no idea what you're talking about (j/k) but I am a titan and the one of three armor exotics I picked, I later got randomly in an engram.

so (I believe) the three items you can pick from are also available randomly in engrams.
