Destiny 2 PS5 + Xbox Series S|X Upgrades Launch Dec 8th (4K, 60FPS)

Has there been any word on K+M support on consoles? I don't expect it but it's the one hang-up I have about playing D2 on devices other than PC.

Good on them. That is how you do it.

I don't play the game, but I am happy for all the Destiny 2 players that can cherish those improvements. Happy to see both Xbox and Playstation getting 4k 60fps

I know that Sony has been adamant about letting third-party peripherals be compatible with their systems, so their lack of news means there won't be any changes compared to PS4. For Xbox, I think we'll see support for these things but only time will tell.

Kills any reason for me getting an Xbox at launch for sure. If I was going to switch from PC that is.

Stealh trolling at its finest.

how? I love destiny but what's the point of next gen stuff doesn't hit? I'll be done with the story stuff in a week and back into maintenance mode by then.

Destiny and cyberpunk prob last 2 games I get this year and both next gen patch's won't be there now. Really kills the launch for me.

I don't think the upgrade was ever announced for launch.
Crossplay is only between generation, sadly :(
Yes but they said earlier this summer that they would like to look at crossplay between platforms in 2021 once they get next gen crossplay up and running.

True, they never mentioned a date when they talked about the next gen upgrades back in June, guess the delay from September to Nov 10th (xbox release date) just heavily implied that.

Tried Destiny 2 the other day and it's just a confusing mess so I hope this new expansion changes that.

Just made a hunter the other day, game is so confusing now. I know what I'm doing and still such a pain in the ass.

So XSS is just a XBX with a stronger CPU and weaker GPU. So less pixels and more frames.

It was free (with the upcoming expansion even) on Gamepass, so I gave it another shot. Still a paucity or content, endless loading screens and no story worth mentioning. The dissonance is particularly jarring when you start (or import) a new character.

There are better console MMOs to play, namely ESO or FFXIV. Better online FPSes to play for that matter, too. At least the gunplay in D2 is quite good. Shame about the rest.

The exotics are impossible to find without the internet. I have all these quests for exotics and not a single way point it anything to guide me in the right direction.

Most of the story content is placed in the Speeder sales person inventory. All the campaigns save shadow keep.

Its gotta be bonkers for new people now, hope the new player experience will be better but since half the current game is getting vaulted you wont be able to do the old campaigns even if you wanted to.

I really don't want to play the game on a controller, but I bet cheating is much more rare on console. Holy shit cheating is still so common in D2 on Steam, it's unbelievable. Last night I played against a guy that was doing rapid fire nova bombs. I'd say 1 in 5 matches last night had an obvious cheater in the lobby. How is this not a top priority for them to fix?!

Good sign for these consoles that they seem to be able to run current gen 1080p30 games at 4k60 and without too much trouble.

Tends to suggest the real world GPU performance is well above 8x the PS4, which is great.

Cool. I hopped back into Destiny 2 just yesterday to check what was up, and was surprised how dated it looked already, aliasing everywhere, and it did feel worse jumping out of 60fps Titanfall 2. Hope the next gen patch clears it all up and the 60fps upgrade will be nice.

Sucks big time that 60fps won't be at launch. A month wait ain't too bad But it still sucks.

Nice to see FOV options on console are a thing. You're always running thru the game and rarely get to embrace some of the more stunning endgame environments ... and a lot of that has to do with default console FOV

Will wait for DF analysis if the 60fps is near locked 60fps on PS5 before I decide to even download the patch. Can't stand drops to 30-40fps frequently or even worse if the 60fps has frame pacing issues. Exciting news nonetheless!

The load times are what killed my joy. Hope it loads everything near instant now.

For a laugh compared my laptop to xbox. I was able to load in fly to tangled shore, do a lost sector there and fly back out before my Xbox guy landed on the planet...

I'm ok that the patch is dropping a month after the consoles launch. I'll pick up Beyond Light then, after I get through some launch games. That should also reduce the feeling of FOMO that I don't enjoy. Once you are that far behind, there's no need to rush and catch up.

Of course, I'll still have to deal with the "must have completed raid 360 times" posts that appear a week after launch.

I jumped in after it all went to Gamepass (played Destiny 1 and had no interest in buying and grinding D2) played through a bunch the legacy content and got my guy to 845 and then got stuck on Spider and his wanting me to find 5 bounties.

It just got confusing at that point, up until then it had all been pretty straight forward. Haven't gone back in since.

Looking at this chart I think 4K/60 won't be too difficult with optimised settings.

I thought it was, so this is a bit disappointing
TBH I thought it was going to be launch day too, especially since they are making you install a whole new launcher on Nov 10 for Beyond Light. I assumed (silly me) that the next gen upgrades would be baked into that new launcher.

so tomorrow Bungie will drop the next gen consoles update for Destiny 2

I am hoping for

- performance / resolution mode
- faster load times, faster log-in process
- smoother experience in menus and inventory
- better audio
- dualsense functions on Playstation
