That Devil's Lair strike is no joke when it's 3 randoms. I did get lucky and get some Heavy ammo during our 4th try at the 3 waves, but still couldn't make it through.
I just jump up on the ledge behind Ghost to separate myself. Of course, it helped I had decent teammates too. The battle after that was pretty awesome though I wish the enemy moved so that it would force me to move. I could've stayed in one place all day. The boss after that was fucking stupid and just lazy design.

From the sounds of it, this game suffers from the same problem as Killzone does. You jump into a game with people who've unlocked S tier and as a beginner can't get a scratch in.

Pay attention Bungie, don't follow down this road.

Just finished the devils lair which got me to the level cap. I had a lot of fun playing against those bosses. Been looking for a go to game for a while and I think this will be it!

I think it's really unfortunate that everybody seems to hate the Moon map, because that's the one that plays most like Halo to me. The rest feel like the run and gun BS that CoD is, where just about everybody is using either a shotgun or a machine gun, and nothing else is viable. I'm hoping for more large, open maps like the Moon map in the full game.

As I mentioned I actually like the Moon map because it's more open and you get a chance to use more weapons.

People with Shotgun/AR/Machine Gun combo are ridiculous on all the other maps.

If you gave the best drops to only the best players the rich would get richer...

At least this way, someone that completely sucks can hold out hope they can get a drop that might help them catch up.

I should know, i suck.
But in this case, the rich are rich because they're good, and the poor are poor because they suck. That's not the meaning of that actual saying. The rich aren't getting richer, the people who actually try are getting rewarded for doing well.

So let me get this straight. I'm playing the Iron Banner thing so that means everyones weapons are levelled up like in PVE? Normal PVP ignores all that right? To balance it?

Hope there is a PvE event this beta, could give 2 shits about PVP

True. I'm not a massive fan of any PVP. I would rather have a new area to explore.

Nah, it's not really like that at all, at least in the normal pvp mode.

Unfortunately it could also easily encourage players to queue and then go afk, or at least not really try their best.

I don't think anyone is saying don't let bad players get anything at all. But I think it's fair if the players that perform well are rewarded for doing so.

Yeah, the Strike is either incredibly easy or incredibly frustrating depending on who you get matched with. I'm done playing with randoms.

Look, I get that a good gun can make a difference for a player. Sometimes all it takes is that one gun to take you from mediocre to pretty good. But if you suck, you suck. A gun won't change that. Practice, learning the maps and strategies for each is what will change it.

Regardless, if it's an event that ostensibly rewards teamwork (since the team win/loss is what determines loot), the loot could drops could maybe be more then, with everyone getting some kind of good loot.

The PVP would be better if a few things were changed:
-Slightly slow down the game, time to kill, movement speed (but don't take away ability to strafe).
-Everyone has the same starting equipment with no extra effects (and no more Iron Banner-lime things). This could be class-based (ie Hunters have Handcannons and Snipers, Titans have Auto Rifles and something, and so on) or there could be weapon pick-ups on the map. The inventory system makes weapon switching a pain in the ass though.
-Adjust vehicle and power balances for PVP.

But as it is, it is a clusterfuck.

So essentially, throw the entire concept out of the window?

I'm really not seeing what is so desperately wrong with the PVP that these suggestions make any sense. We have to face reality. Destiny is going to be a game where you bring your loadout to the party. Otherwise we're just throwing the baby out with the bathwater.

I have a few issues with the current PVP setup. I think the TTK could do with being increased, and I think something needs to come in to give players more of a chance against supers (or else, dramatically reduce their prevalence). Aside from that, I'm pretty content. Wouldn't mind having a little time to change set up at the beginning of a match, also.

To some level, you have to adapt and overcome. I think a fair few people here are jumping too fast to conclusions. Not necessarily pointing this at you, but I think it's always worth trying something new, be it a weapon, or a playstyle. For a few games I struggled with my Warlock with a scout rifle. I was playing the game like I had in the alpha with an auto rifle, and I was getting shredded at close range by others with auto rifles, fusion rifles and shotguns. Now I'm far more careful to ensure that I engage people at range, and I've started to do massively better.

Part of the way this game now works is finding the right gear to enter PVP with. That's the way it is, that's the way it's going to be. It's part of the game, it's part of the challenge.

I got a game with a dude that hid in the back and tried to (badly) snipe the whole time. Literally took 3 times longer than normal-- ugh. He wouldn't revive anyone either. Most of my other games personally have been challenging but doable though, save for a few wipes.

Had some great matches during the event with a group of GAF members.

I never did get to play the mars map though, anyone have a video link?

Woke up at 7am to play with a friend in Japan and another in the US, we all got drunk and trucked through the beta for 7 hours. Unbelievably fun. Can't wait for the actual game. The Devil's Lair was awesome.

(First Bungie game, too. The controls on the hovercycle are really intuitive and smooth)

Grabbed a legendary gun from the iron banner, nice!
Mars and earth maps are both a lot of fun, moon can suck it with weapon loadouts..

Looks like you're looking for a different type of game.

The lack of team voice chat is really bringing MP down for me. I suck but now I can't even follow my teams orders because it's silent.

Should at least let you voice chat with your Clan/sub-clan.
I assumed this was because of beta. Will there be no voice chat at all? Kinda important, especially in coop..

You have voice chat, just only with your fire team. Not randoms from matchmaking. They mentioned this way back, so pretty sure it's staying this way.

how does gun damage work in pvp? is it the same as it is in the main game or is everyone's gun damage leveled to be the same for competitive?

The Titan sash from the Iron Banner looks amazing. I was jealous of the capes but no longer.

Normalized across gun types.
