I feel the exact same way. Fuck this repeated grinding for shit i've already done.Yeah, but the grind man, the grind!
As I said, an extra upg tier to unlock the new lvl's would have been great, this way isn't a good way, for me anyway.

Name two exotics that would be better at 302 attack and no perks than 300 with full perks. Here's a list.If you don´t care for a higher number why don´t just keep your exotic as it is and don´t upgrade it?
I honestly feel everybody is making a big deal out of nothing.
Looking forward to grinding out my gear again, because honestly, this is what the game is all about.
I´m kind of bored at level 30 right now with my maxed Hawkmoon, Suros, IceBreaker and Ballerhorn.
F.S.B.
Want to Grind? Cool. Want to keep your exotics weapons relevant? Cool. This keeps your exotic relevant.
That's why they implemented the Light system. A character with 32 Light and a 300 weapon does much more damage than a 30 Light character with a 323 weapon. Would it really be so hard to put the newgrindcontent behind armor upgrades?
So don't upgrade your weapon.
Not a bad idea! They should have kept the max 300 rating for all weapons the same! The Light system is their chance to upgrade weapons without setting you back.
This is just like every other MMO.
If that MMO had no content and reset half your character every 3 months I would agree.
This is just like, Call of Duty.
If Call of Duty let you prestige starting at level 2 I would agree.

I'll give you a hintSome people like the base Suros in standard Crucible especially since the bottom half bonus was nerfed.
Are you sure?
Are you sure?
It takes 87,500 XP to get to the named perk (aka the last perk) in any exotic weapon. Between 15 bounties a day, weekly nightfall and telemetries it should not take you that long to get your perks back and end up with a weapon that is already higher attack than you had previously.
people complain that actually playing the game is really just grinding so telling them they have to play the game is not what they want to hear.

Yeah but a lot of people are saying that just adding a few extra nodes at the end which require like 100k xp it just doesn't make any sense when for 85k xp you'll have all your perks back and end up with a gun that does more damage than your fully upgraded exotic from before. It's less than 5 days worth of bounties, even less if you consider the new bounties from the DLC and nightfall/telemetry bonuses.
15 daily missions? Hah, what kind of time sink is this?It takes 87,500 XP to get to the named perk (aka the last perk) in any exotic weapon. I can't believe this thread is still going. Upgraded weapons only matters when you are doing hard mode raid, which no one will be doing for a while anyway. For everything else, your normal weapons are fine.

I am. Someone led me to believe they could be upgraded but I don't think this is the case.. Old Legendary items will be useless, and yet nobody is complaining that their progress will be reset.
And what of those who have a ton of weapons they spent a ton of time upgrading. The time lost will never be replaced. PEACE.You don't have to do all 15. They give between 2500-5000xp per bounty. If you even do a handfull a day over the course of a week you can upgrade your exotic to have all of it's perks again and it will be more powerful than before. It still takes much more XP to fully level it, but to get all your perks back it doesn't take much XP at all and it will still have a higher atk power.
Agreed bro. You coming back for the dlc? I haven't seen you post in the destiny threads in a while.
And what of those who have a ton of weapons they spent a ton of time upgrading. The time lost will never be replaced. PEACE.
Because I enjoy USING those upgraded weapons.I have a ton of weapons I spent a ton of time upgrading. If you didn't enjoy the time you spent upgrading the weapons then why are you playing the game in the first place?

It takes with the time I have available ~1 week to level an exotic, Am I supposed to thank Bungie for setting me back several months? It would have been far easier to just slap an extra upgrade column on the end, I don't mind earning that extra damage but I deeply resent being forced to start from scratch. You don't have to do all 15. Don't buy Legendary items.Looks like I'll finally be trying the raid tonight. Just in time for all the stuff I get to become obsolete.
If I have some marks saved up, I should definitely not buy Legendary stuff now, right, since it's going to be replaced with better stuff when the expansion comes out?
I've already addressed this. I'm just not going to invest the time to do it again. And you can still use them! And if you want to upgrade it so you can take it into the hard mode raid instead of switching to another new exotic you might not like as much (but would have to take just because it has a higher ATK) then you can re-level your favorite exotic. Within a week you'll have all your perks back.
This kind of "time invested" argument crops up in any loot based game where people say they wasted all this time but neglect to acknowledge the benefit of having used that weapon in the interim as if all the times they used it prior are null-and-void. I don't understand it.

it's not the number of missions, or the exp they give, or the time it takes.
it's that we already spent our time doing those same missions a million times already! they don't have the actual content to pull this kind of bullshit, not even after the DLC hit they'll have it.
they're flushing our effort down the crapper asking us to do exactly the same stuff for the same exact result, which is unlocking the same exact perks we already unlocked. only with an higher number thingie attached.
it's not progression and it doesn't even feel like progression... it's just scrapping our effort while making it sound like they're doing us a favour.
that, i think, is why people are upset.
I wouldn't count on it.If I complete my Thorn bounty after the patch, will I get the upgraded version?

The more I think about this change the cooler I am with it. I mean sure, it would have been nice to have an easy cheesy path to top end light level 32 gear from my work leveling up to light 30 content, but then what motivation would I have to get any of the new gear?
When I think of some of the alternative methods they could have chosen, I think this is a good balance. Just imagine if the only way to upgrade old weapons with keeping all upgrades was a via rare drop from the raid (say item type specific) or from the weekly nightfall, but sharing the table with the new loot?
I mean just adding 3 more upgrade nodes would be cool too, but the amount of experience required to level them still should be equivalent to leveling a brand new weapon to max. People would just complain then about how long it takes to fill each bubble.
I don't have time to explain.
And I would join you in mocking those that moaned about three extra nodes and enjoyed my maxed exotics as they crept up. Your other arguments are variations on 'it could be worse' which is a terrible reply to someone saying 'this should be better'.The more I think about this change the cooler I am with it. What's the point of collecting any new gear if you already have one fully upgraded? Can you help me understand why a new legendary or exotic would be boring at 300, but exciting at 331?The more I think about this change the cooler I am with it. I mean sure, it would have been nice to have an easy cheesy path to top end light level 32 gear from my work leveling up to light 30 content, but then what motivation would I have to get any of the new gear?
I can? Awesome!Good news then. You still can use them optimaly in everything but hard mode raid.
Because I enjoy USING those upgraded weapons.
GUYS, GUYS, GUYS!
Just to be clear because, I´m not sure everybody got it.
The Upgraded Exotics will be more powerful right from the start.
They will start at 302 and you will have to level them to get to 331.
Seems completely logical to me.
I don´t see what the problem is.

Restating for clarity:
1) Because all of the perks have to be ground for again.
2) Because days of effort are being thrown away for completely arbitrary reasons
What are you talking about? I've never done HM VoG and found plenty of utility in a fully levelled weapon (exotic or legendary).I think most of this anger and indignation will be forgotten once people start seeing the new exotics, and have less desire to keep their old weapons current.
That said, this information really should have been prefaced with the huge disclaimer: YOU DO NOT NEED TO UPGRADE YOUR EXOTICS UNLESS YOU INTEND TO DO HARD MODE CROTA'S END.
