Hadronic essence. I have like 1700 of them. If only they served some greater purpose

I was the same with my Titan and Plasteel Plating. When running my alts I had a lot of gear for them already, so I didn't grind as much for armour, leaving me having to search and buy gear to shard it.

so is the first strike doable at level 6? I've tried it once and we kept on wiping on the defending the ghost hacking part

Doable? Yea. But it'll take a while even if you do complete it. Just do some story missions or something else until you hit level 8.

the sound of hawkmoon is discernible from quite a distance, and its rounds lacerate the very soul of its enemies. it is a finely crafted weapon gifted by RNGesus to only the most distinguished brotherhood of guardians

So far the only people I've seen it drop to are people who are awful at crucible and friends of mine who don't use hand cannons and had no idea what it was.

Running some extreme "upload/download" activities on your PC while doing farming will minimise the number of people on your server.

Better upload speed you have, more people on the server when connecting.

Verified by few friends.

Interesting.

Guides from the OP:

Some of it is a little outdated but this will be a great place to start for info on how to proceed.

You need to rank up with vendors, earn marks, and buy legendary gear.

Run Tiger Strikes and level up Vanguard rep to 2. Use the marks to buy armor. IMO I would get the boots and arms first. Once you get to level 25 ask someone to help carry you thro the weekly strikes. Once you get enough strange coins, buy an exotic from Xur. Personally a exotic helmet since the raid helmet only drops on Atheon on hard mode and get a legendary chest pieces. You should be doing raids at this point. Upgrade your armor, exotic and raid armor first.

There's only one Raid- you need to be 26 :)

Your first step is getting to level 24, with a set of level 20 blue gear. At the same time, you want to be raising your Vanguard rep to level 2- primarily with bounties- to buy your first legendary piece.

Do the vanguard strike playlist. It'll reward you with rare armor with light. With rare armor alone you can get to 60 light which is level 24. In the meantime get your vanguard reputation to 2 so you can buy legendary armor. Hopefully you'll get some legendary/exotic armor drop for you alone the way

I see a lot of vanguard strikes in your future m.

Do those till you hit vanguard rank and are able to start buying legendary gear to level up. Pay attention to what Xur is selling on Friday and buy armor to help get you to 29. Hopefully you'll get legendaries in a drop somewhere so you can speed the process.

You are all awesome! Many thanks for the very clear advice :)

Looking forward to continuing the trek to 24 tonight. First stop, Vanguard Strikes!

Edit: Btw, my ID is the same as on here if anyone happens to be in the same boat and wants a PS3 buddy. I have a mic if need be.

If only I had time to do vanguard strikes, have so much gear to upgrade that aside from the usual weekly activities every destiny playsessions begins and ends with me on the moon chasing them filaments while knocking out bounties at the same time. Every day I use a different alt.

I'll be online for a while doing Tiger strikes on my 29 Titan, if anyone needs a filler for a normal raid let me know (PS4).

Can we stop this hobgoblin one shot people at 29 please? It's bullshit and only happens if your character doesn't have maxed out armor. With maxed out armor you don't even get one hit killed by them at lvl 28.

Whoa there tiger. Whether it's real or perceived, I'd prefer that once I'm leveled up to max that there is a very slim chance of walking up to an encounter and being killed before I know the first shot was fired. Maybe a 28 can take two shots, and a 29 can take three, but with three hobs with auto aim on the same timer, it really doesn't matter. I'm not saying that it should be easy, I just think that making us less legend than the mobs could turn out to be more frustrating than fun.

What's the point of leveling up these factions? You can get their weapons through drops and stuff.

well there's a shader and ugh.... um... you see....

seriously though, there's no point. my dropped new monarchy rocket launcher is better than anything they're selling and i don't have a single rep towards new monarchy.

I'm so happy I finally beat the raid. I had went through it around 10 times but never could beat it even though kept getting to atheon

I got a vision of confluence for my trouble and the ship. I can't wait to beat it again now.

Dat awesome Dead Orbit Shader :p

Nothing really. I usually get a shard or a strange coin. Haven't gotten a single shader yet

Yeah, I'm trying to level up Dead Orbit for that shader. Bungie needs to make these factions more relevant.

Hawkian (and other DestinyGAF sages), advice is needed. *bow*

My Destiny playtime so far has been as follows:
- Daily story
- Weekly strike (if I find 2 other people)
- a mix of bounties and Vanguard Strikes
- I don't play Crucible...yet.

Hit lvl 26 this weekend, and now I'm puzzled about what to buy/do next. :/

Stats:

Human Warlock lvl 26
Defense: 1079
Intellect: 174
Discipline: 159
Strength: 109
Currently leveling the Sunsinger subclass.

Primary weapon: The Aries Nemesis X4 (248 ATK)
Special weapon: Dammerung FR5 (219 ATK)
Heavy: Despot SA/5 (242 ATK)

Helmet: ISTANU-GNT Razor (280 defense)
Gauntlets: Nerigal Savant III (229 defense)
Chest: Nerigal Savant III (366 defense)
Leg Armor: Eclipse Maw VI (204 defense)

Inventory stuff:
19639 Glimmer
15 Vanguard Marks (atm...)
17 Spinmetal
28 Helium
146 Hadronic Essence
105 Weapon Parts
30 Spirit Bloom
10 Strange Coin
17 Relic Iron
12 Ascendant Shard
14 Mote of Light
9 Ascendant Energy
5 Sapphire Wire
3 Plasteel Plating

- Should I go the Hawkian route from the OT (26+) ?
"At this point in time, one Exotic armor piece and three Legendaries, fully upgraded, will bring you to level 29. "

- So I should get 3 more strange coin, get the Exotic Armor (instead of upgrading this one) and concentrate on upgrading the other legendaries?

- When should I try VoG / Nightfall?

Any other advice with regards to weapon/armor upgrades/progression routes are welcome.
As far as the game itself goes, I'm having a blast (Strike/Patrol/Bounty mix).

If possible upgrade your current armor to lvl27 or lvl28, depending on the raid group, a lvl26 can make it through the normal raid easily. I ran it as a lvl25 or 26, dont remember. Do normal mode raid before the reset Tuesday. And once again before the next reset happens on the following Tuesday. Pray to RNGness you will get raid armor. Upgrade your raid armor and exotic armor first. I would recommend upgrading your current armor after upgrading your raid armor/exotic armor. Nightfall will still be rough since its lvl28 and has alot of modifiers on. Maybe you can ask for help and 2 people can assist you. I am assuming you have done the weekly? You should also try to do lvl28 weekly to earn the max amount of strange coins for Xur. Do the raid first, hopefully you will get some raid armor. If that fails, than go with Hawkian route from the OT. If possible get an exotic helmet ( depends on Xur and what he is selling) since the raid helmet only drops on Atheon HM and the rest of the raid armor can drop for normal mode.

edit: I will be willing to run thro normal raid with you sometimes today. However I can run the normal raid in 12ish hours :/

Hm... I can hit normal raid at lvl 26? Cool.

How much time does it take to finish the normal raid? Me and my buddy (also Warlock lvl 26) would try it (along with 4 brave GAF volunteers) ?
EU GAF here, so if anyone's interested, we can schedule a date/time. :D

That might have been their original plan. Maybe they saw how easy VOG eventually became and raised the level

Or the level properly reflects the "required" level, level 26 in the level 26 raid is too squishy at the halfway point, reminds me of when legendary engrams could reward you with blue weapons.

Also you could technically enter the raid at level 23 or 24, which is an even bigger misrepresentation.

I'm hoping this is the case. In the level 26 raid there are lv28 enemies, which you can't even damage as a lv24 (which is the level I think you can enter the raid at). I've tried to talk so many friends out of joining that are lv25. Yesterday my other friends literally wanted to attempt the raid with a lv24 friend (he only recently started playing Destiny) in the group. When I said he is gonna be deadweight by the time we get to the gatekeepers they cooled down on that idea. Even at the conflux area the enemies are lv27 already.

Depends on who's running it with you. I can finish normal raid and I guess hard raid with an awesome team in about ~ hour and 15 mins. If its all new raiders, it can take 2-4 ish hours? I want to say? and can be rough at your level. Dont really remember. Wish you luck! Sorry I cant run it with you. Since you're EU, by the time I am able to get on, you will prob be sleeping, etc.

Just saw Luke's tweet about Crota's End start date. I'm excited. Does anyone know if it will open at 9am GMT?

Thanks. I have 62 of them. I hope it will be available directly. But maybe you'll have to complete some missions or so before you can play it?

Fnar. I've now done the beginning and end of the raid, but I've missed the middle.

Managed to get a group of friends together (and one random who was passing, who I invited to my friends list) and we made it to the Templar Oracles before getting stuck and then running out of time that evening. And then the other night the same random who was now on my friends list invited me and I joined a group at the Atheon checkpoint. And WTF quite frankly, talk about sink or swim, I had literally no clue what I was doing and the assumption from the other guys in the group was that everyone who was level 28 or over (I'm 29) was raid experienced......nope!

After much bitching about n00bs, the group kicked a couple of other guys for being n00bs and got others in, I was able to avoid the purge luckily despite being no use at all initially. I was finally able to extract from the main guy exactly what the fuck was going on and what I needed to be doing. And we did it and I got Chatterwhite and Atheons Epilogue. And thats all. I was expecting more, but maybe you have to run through the whole thing.

Honestly, although I was pleased to have seen the end of the raid, I didn't have that much fun, but thats more to do with the guys I was playing with I think, I felt like a burden to them.

But I'm marginally more raid experienced now, ha!

Don't get to excited, you will probably end up with another VoC and ship, and again and again, such is the will of RNGesus.

Gratz on the Raid beat though, you always remember your first time fondly :)

It's probably been brought up already, but you probably want to balance bounties and strikes. Strikes give you mark to buy gear, but you need rep to actually get access to the gear and bounties are a good source of rep.
I tried throwing vanguard gang signs in front of the vendor but street cred doesnt seem to help reputation

Hawkian (and other DestinyGAF sages), advice is needed. *bow*
You can definitely run the raid at 26 with a solid team. I wouldn't worry too much about upgrading leg or non-helm exotic armor pieces, you probably want to save shards for raid gear and exotic helm. Shards can be sparse early on. But if you do have resources to burn, getting to 27 and then 28 will make you significantly more comfortable and you'll be able to contribute more. But a group of 4 or 5 lvl28-30s that know what they do can do the normal raid without too much trouble, so adding a cple of 26s to that isn't a problem. If on PS4, let me know if you need help, I'm EU as well, add ZonySUX.

My friend is finally beginning to play his copy of Destiny and is at level 19. He doesn't play FPS's and gets disoriented and lost a lot so I've been running through the story with him. It's been fun whittling down enemies for him to pick off. Maybe, someday he will try the Crucible.

So after Iron Banner, and upgrading ALOT of weapons, I've finally hit the glimmer cap, with nothing to spend it on.

Iron Banner, where you at?

I must be a worthy guardian then. Not like the losers in this thread

Thanks to everyone that helped with the hard raid. I got the Titan helmet so I'm very happy with the outcome. Awesome team.

Yes it was fun. Thanks to everyone as well. I'm glad you got what you needed. I finally got the Vex after 25 attempts. I guess there's still hope for you losers searching for Hawkmoon :p
