It's fun till you realize it's a repition of two formulas:

A) Go into a room, take out a ton of enemies, including a boss, and then deploy Ghost.

B) Deploy ghost, defend the room(For no reason, as ghost can't take damage), and kill every enemy. Oddly enough, Ghost's hack or whatever finishes the exact moment you kill the last enemy. Amazing.

PvP is this games redeeming feature. Warframe has better co-op.

so a FPS then?

don't even get me started on that Warframe comment.

Short story: There's not much story, but the Game itself is awesome, pretty much like borderlands AAA (but better since the loot in Destiny is MUCH MUCH harder to get) .

With this said, how would folks compare this game to Borderlands?

Despite me hating the Borderlands storyline and narrative, I think Bungie could've learned a lesson from the Borderladns game somewhat. At least Destiny doesn't annoy me.

Well yeah, that's what I meant by the mission structure being rather lackluster. I still think the act of shooting creatures in the face feels good and satisfying in this game, but the trappings and motivations for doing so are flawed.

Ah maybe it was a strike then. How do you get into a raid then if there's no matchmaking?

Gotta find five other people do it with you. Bungie's decision was there to be no matchmaking since the raids would be too hard for randoms to complete.

After doing the Moon strike, I can kinda see how that could happen.

Scout rifle seems a bit OP. There were many one shot HS kills.

Also I have some Crucible gameplay if anyone is intrested.

There was a ball in the tower so me and another guy started throwing the ball around to each other and we communicated with just dance moves and waves.

I love this game so much.

Does anyone know how to link old bungie.net accounts? Or is there a way? I played a ton of Halo 2 on Xbox Live but the current B.net account I'm using is apparently only four years old. Did we not have unique b.net accounts back then? I don't really remember.

Haven't posted much but...I can't say I love it guys. It's really too repetitive and artificial for me. I can understand why it's loved because in the heat of the action, it's mechanically fantastic. But man, is this game soulless for me. The gameplay is FANTASTIC and I'm sure the game will get good reviews but...

I really regret my Digital Guardian Edition and I'd take the money back in a heartbeat. What a shame.

If they weren't hard we wouldn't have been dying over and over again, sure they are bullet sponges but why is that inherently a bad thing? It makes for a long and thrilling battle, it shouldn't be a cakewalk for christs sake.

The Venus boss would be tough even if he had lower health, that motherfuckers splash damage makes it impossible to stay in one place for too long.

If you were to play a decent MMO (like WoW, FFXIV, etc), the bosses in Destiny would seem mostly unimaginative and simple. Especially for a studio partnered with the company responsible for the most successful MMO ever.

Dear God Destiny's single player is awful. Truly terrible, this is completely unacceptable for such an expensive production.
I don't think I agree, or at least I'd say this isn't really a fair premise. If you are looking for a focused narrative campaign, then "terrible" isn't even adequate. It's not there. This may be extremely disappointing to many, but Destiny is simply not that kind of game, from the ground up.

However, as a videogame you can play by yourself, you could do a hell of a lot worse. There isn't really "single player" at all, as anything you do alone you could do with a fireteam (and probably have more fun), which I'd recommend unless you're intentionally challenging yourself to do something alone... which is also fun, if you're like me. Depending on your platform and real-world location, you might also run into quite a few people "out and about" and either briefly interact with them or form a fireteam with them. The gunplay, AI, encounter design, open/exploration elements, random interaction, enemy variety and character progression make it a more enjoyable "solo" experience for me than Borderlands, for instance- though in both cases, you're doing yourself a disservice by playing by yourself the entire time.

How do ou change difficulty of missions?
Click on the green "Normal" box and change it to hard.

Seriously people, if we could've we would've started doing penaltys with each other and we didn't speak a word. Just with motion.

Best moment of the game so far. Such a genuine and minimalistic interaction.

Can you play competitive multiplayer without doing the story at all? Is the game enjoyable that way? I don't really have any interest in playing the campaign based on what I've seen of it.

Scrub question, but is there a way to get PS4 videos onto youtube?

Yup. I always double tap the share button before start of match. Then once finished press Share once and it will give you option to save Video clip (by pressing SQUARE). Once the video/match has been captured then I simply put it on my USB and upload it to Youtube.

That's kind of annoying. So far I've beaten every strike with little difficulty and only a single ally since the third player keeps dropping out. I'd like to at least give it a shot. Oh well guess I will have to team up with GAF sometime for it which should be a good bit of fun anyway.

This is something I agree with. I'm hoping bosses retain having high amounts of health, but I want the encounter itself to be dangerous and require more thought. While I liked the Moon strike, there's not much thought between killing all the trash when you have a chance, and then shooting the boss when he's not looking at you.

However, I don't want some convoluted stand on the right square dance.

You have to progress a few missions into the story as well as get to level 5 to unlock MP. The MP is fun, but get in a group since pubs are terrible.

congrats on the new kid, but you should've really been there for her.

Thanks folks. I'll post some vids for GAF soon.

I think you have to reach a certain player level to unlock the other playlists as well, but you can do that in PVP.

Ugh, lm officially ragequitting all PVP matches where the opposing team has more than 3 level 20 guys. So overpowered compared to my team which usually consists of level 5 people... Matchmaking plz

I get the feeling that the more people approach it like an mmo and all its trappings, then, people will enjoy it more. They will work towards endgame content and gravitate to the social stuff vs approaching it like a linear story shootbang.

The greatest fault at that point is that there aren't a whole lot of tools to be social.

Exactly this, so many people are essentially complaining that the game is something it was never trying to be.

This isn't a story driven game where the story missions are all that matter and you're not going to breeze through the levels (well you can i've found PvP to be really quick for leveling), hit the max and get the whole experience. This is a hybrid of a dungeon crawler and MMO. Meaning the real game begins once you hit the cap. Leveling past that through gear and the rarer currencies are a huge part of the game. Then there's the raiding which if the strikes are any indication as to difficulty, will be something that takes a ton of time to complete.

I understand people not liking this type of game. But to condemn it because they misunderstood what they were buying despite being given the correct info is very wrong.

Huh? You think it's much harder to get a respectable weapon that suits your taste in Destiny? That there's more loot than in Borderlands? What?

There aren't even the same amount of base weapons in Destiny as there are in borderlands 1 even.

BL 1 you have: Eridian weapons, SMGs, Semi-auto Rifles, Burst Rifles, Full-auto Rifles, Light machine guns, Sniper Rifles, Shotguns, rocket launchers, Semi-auto pistols, Machine pistols, Revolvers and all of these have wildly different stats and elemental types(which makes a huge difference) whenever you find them so there are thousands of possible permutations.

Destiny you have: Semi-auto Rifles, Revolvers. Burst rifles, auto-rifles, sniper rifles, revolvers, shotguns, sniper rifles, fusion rifle, rocket launcher, Light machine gun. All of these can have different perks and have a handful of base firing types(e.g. A Sahara auto-rifle will always have a massive clip and shoot really fast with high recoil) which gives hundreds of permutations and you'll frankly barely notice the element that your weapon is shooting.

I don't understand your point. You may not like Borderlands personally, but a lot of people seem to be making this mental leap here saying that Borderlands co-op was worse than Destiny co-op, when Destiny's co-op would have a hard time beating a game like Warframe.

Is there any way to use the PS4 controller on Vita remote play? My hand bones are not enjoying this too much.

Yes, but it's really annoying and I think it involves wiping your Vita memory card or using a spare.
I'll look for a link.

If you like playing with your PS4 while sitting on the toilet, but really don’t like missing your triggers, there are good news, as the combination between the PS4 firmware update 1.7 and the 3.15 update for the PS Vita made playing in remote play with a DualShock 4 a lot easier.
Now the Vita will automatically be recognized for remote play as long as it uses one of the accounts registered to the PS4, and multiple users can be logged in at the same time using the same DualShock 4 controller, so all you have to do is have your PS Vita set to a different account from your PS4′s main account, then open your game on the PS4 normally, and then go anywhere you want to go with your Vita and DualShock 4.
Turn on the Vita, select remote play, and it’ll automatically be recognized and connected. It won’t have any input on the game, but that really doesn’t matter, because you want to play with your DualShock 4 anyway.

^^ That shit is hard to read.
Basically you need to create a psn account apart from your main that you have on both your vita and ps4. You then start remote play and can use the DS4 since the vita is controlling the other account, that is not actually playing a game.

A question about upgrading armor. I have this rare armor for which i've unlocked 2 upgrades but for some reason I cant seem to activate them. They have that green ring around them but i cant seem to press x on them an activate both upgrades. Any clue why this is happening?

I was just checking the mailman and he had 3 blue items under 'lost items'.
Did i forget to pick them up and he collects them or what is that about?

If you have rewards at the end of the mission but don't have room in your inventory (i.e. you are awarded a primary but already have all 9 slots filled) the item will be put in the postmaster's for you to pick up whenever you have room for it. I love it, takes that pressure off of running out of slots.

Just got my Ghost Edition from Amazon, of course the packaging is busted to hell but I'm finally about to jump in.

I have approached this entire game with the idea that this is my story. So I can go and explore things on my own or with friends, do some PvP or solve the mystery of what is going on. It's all up to me. I don't need a bunch of dialogue or interesting characters. Listening to gaffers and my friends exceeds anything any Dev could create. The game's story is the backdrop, not the motivation of anything. There are since people that will do nothing other than PvP, that's fine. Some won't bother with PvP, that's also fine. You make your story and set your own objectives. The game isn't perfect, but goodness, the game was never meant to be about the story. It is all about your experiences

Ugh here comes the server issues... PSN UK giving me crap and just got booted out. Was perfectly fine last night. I hope all is well tomorrow on my day off.

That's a bummer man! Different strokes. Seems like it's a love or hate it type game right now on gaf. I absolutely love it, doesn't feel soulless to me whatsoever. My favorite parts include The battles/gameplay, the planets/locations, the sweet loot/weapons, STRIKES, social interaction and seeing other players in the game world. The only thing I'm not really into is the voice acting. I actually like the story for the most part too.

I unlocked some strike thing but I don't know how to access it, or I wasn't paying attention fully. It said I get cool gear or something?
