It's not just "we'd maybe like to send you there someday," he goes on to say that they could go there right then, if it weren't for time constraints. The implication is that "someday" meant "launch," when that's clearly not the case. Furthermore, the overall implication that the game would have massive exploreable areas with minimal boundaries, is just patently nonsensical. There's invisible walls on top of a lot of the buildings, for crying out loud.

Well, yeah. They could likely teleport you over to it. That's how playable geometry works! Though it's entirely possible that I'm taking the quote to mean a solid, "One day," and not, "At launch." I don't get the implication that they wanted it at launch at all.

I agree that the idea that the game has massive exploreable areas with minimal boundaries is nonsensical. Though the areas are decently sized.

Can someone advise as to whether there is auto-aim in SP or PvP?

I am manually aiming in both modes, I haven't noticed any 'auto lock', although admittedly I haven't really tried to see if it's there (just press the right trigger and see if it locks).

If there is auto aim, perhaps this explains my crapness in PvP lol!

the PVP is not even worth trying until max level

How can I play versus players lvl 20+ when I'm 5 ?

This is so stupid

They're only getting their weapon perks, not actually doing the weapon damage of their lvl 20 gun. probably has more to do with knowing the maps, heavy weapon ammo spawns, and player spawns from playing alot.

That doesn't excuse it.

I never said it did. I said if you played the beta and got hyped by the beta then I really don't see how you should be dissappointed since the main game is the beta plus more.

I actually agree that those of you paying attention to every thing bungie said pre beta with all the crazy promises. I could see you feeling let down or dissappointed.

So your response is that "don't stand in the fire" is a mechanic that you find... interesting? Things like healing, debuffing, trading aggro, etc.. are easily accomplished in hotkey/melee heavy RPG's. Not so easy in an FPS unless the game doesn't actually play like an FPS. We've also yet to see exactly what mechanics are in the Raid.

Please find and highlight in my post where I said 'don't stand in the fire is an interesting game mechanic I would like translated to Destiny'. I used it a last-ditch example because even something as dull and old as 'don't stand in the fire' would add a level of intricacy to giant boss battles (giant as in bosses that are literally giants) that is currently non-existent in Destiny.

Destiny wants to be an MMO, Bungie have said this time and time again, and it should have bosses in both standard dungeons and raids that cater to a certain level of strategy. Phoboth the Untamed or whatever is Bungie literally just throwing hundreds of trash mobs at you to create chaos and you have to hope you'll survive.

It's not my job to justify Destiny as an MMO or to create the mechanics that Destiny needs to be the game it wants to be, that was up to Bungie. So far ever boss fight I have encountered in Destiny, I've played a hundred times before in other games (granted they didn't have 100000000000000hp).

How long you played WoW doesn't change the fact that Activision isn't, in any way, responsible for how WoW was designed or created. Activision isn't responsible for how Destiny was created either but they're considerably less responsible for WoW. If you're aware of that fact, then you shouldn't make the statement as it's intentionally overstating Activisions role in an attempt to heavily imply that they messed up somewhere this time.

I guess you missed the part where Activision Blizzard is the same company. So I'll say it for a now third time, Blizzard has been part of Activison for years now. So by Bungie partnering with Activision, they also have access to Blizzard because, hey guess what, it's actually Activision Blizzard. So when I said that Bungie partnered with the company responsible for the most successful MMO ever, I was correct.

Just to be one-hundred-and-ten percent clear, Bobby Kotick is president and CEO of Activision Blizzard.

Assuming you are not being sarcastic, Activision Blizzard is what's known as a holding company.

Activision, Sierra and Blizzard still exist, they are now subsidiaries.

This is true, but it's unlikely that Activision would stop Bungie talking to Blizzard. And in terms of what my original comment was, it's still right.

Alright, here's what we got so far:

What features/fixes should Bungie bring to Destiny before the first expansion?

- In-game Clan Management
- Guild Halls
- Improved encounter design
- Custom games
- Fileshare
- Improved enemy AI
- Better story design/flow
- Improved variety of Patrol missions (possibly more context, too)
- Ability to skip cutscenes
- Stats on certain Bonds ((?) legendary armor?) instead of being solely cosmetic
- More loot drops for earlier levels
- Decreased loading times
- Public (proximity) voice chat

Come on, people. We need more stuff (probably).

-Take orbs of light out of pvp.

-PVP game mode with no supers.

-Move capture point B in blindwatch. In control it becomes about who can keep themselves from capping A the longest.

Actually while damage is normalized. Your skills and your weapon upgrades still effect the game.

Haven't had a problem taking out people higher level then me in pvp at all. Just won a rumble where a level 24 hunter was participating.

You know what? Fuck it. Let's start a list. It'll be fun.

What features/fixes should Bungie bring to Destiny before the first expansion?

- In-game Clan Management
- Guild Halls
- Improved encounter design

Now everyone should just add what they want to this list. It's better than spread out all throughout this thread.

Come on people. You can't ignore me forever.

- Roaming enemies
- More randomized enemy spawns for both static spawns and roaming enemies
- Ablity to turn on flash light
- Make clans worth their existence
- Ability to create private multiplayer matches like in halo games
- Nerf Strike boss health by 60-70% across the board
- Fix pvp rewards so it isn't seemingly random whether the guy with a k/d ratio of 10, or the guy with a .1 k/d ratio gets an item
- Make this so called social game, actually feel social.
- Make public event's way more common. I've completed the freaking campaign and the only public event I saw was one with litterally 5 seconds left, as I spawned in the moon

Come on, people. We need more stuff (probably).

I would put the ability to join public missions with randoms above all of that

I forgot a major one...we need WAY more public events

I'm only level 4 but this game is so far really lousy. While the actual combat is good The encounters are all really similar. The world is very pretty but incredibly empty of anything to interact with. The missions are very similar waypoint based trudges. I feel like I'm supposed to be exploring but there is nothing to explore. Am I playing this wrong or something?

Again, this is a Diablo-esque game. It's about blasting your way to the end and getting the loot.

I've only played about 6 hours and have had 2 public events. I wonder what the criteria is. I've run to them asap when they show up. Neat way to break things up.

Public events should crop up on average every 30 minutes at LEAST for each player. They completely fucked it up. I need action in my veins... this ONE change would make the game so much more exciting and social. Do they monitor the forum feedback on Bungie.net?

I need to post and get this shit FIXED ASAP. This is ridiculous. Come on GAF everyone post we need this changed. It's super barren and just thinking about it makes my mouth water. Change it now!

Not saying you can't take em out. Just saying it does effect the game.

They actually fucked that up mid-beta if I recall. At the beginning of the beta Public events happened left and right, by the end I couldn't find any. I haven't run into a single public event since launch myself.

Sorta quoted the wrong person I suppose. No problem.

No. This is one of the things bungie got right. You should be able to get equal chances on loot if you play pvp. There is a reward for doing well. When you win you get twice the points. Shutting people out of the dice roll is an anti incentive for new players to pvp.

Sparrow races
No helmet display option outside of the city
4 man fireteams for standard story missions (3 is an odd limit)
Clan+Friends fireteam setting

EDIT: Public proximity voice chat would be amazing. Loved that about older Halo titles or any game that featured it.

Just to touch on the bolded, and I'll spoiler this since it's about the Moon Strike boss.

I assumed the glowing tanks on the edge of the room could play a part in the encounter, initially. Something like lure the boss into shooting them with his eye beams to break off some armor/do some damage or something. 'Lo and Behold, they are just glowing for no real reason.

Stuff like that would be "mechanically" very interesting.

Regarding the spoiler:
since the ogre is all chained up, I had hoped his attacks would have caused some environmental destruction hazards. Like cracks in the floor that would give way to holes you'd need to avoid, or knocking down some of the pillars if you were standing on tip of them.

Armour/Gear "loadouts" or "suits" that you can save and swap between. I like to switch between several different setups depending on what I'm doing at the time, what weapon I'm using primarily, subclass, etc. I should be able to "save" a setup to quickly swap between them when I want to rather than doing each piece all one by one.

Diablo has a shit load of NPC's and dialog to develope the Story and overall Lore. Destiny hasnt got 5% of that.

lolwut? No it doesn't. Diablo was never about the story. It's blast your way to the end of the quest, get the gear and move on.

- Clan challenges
- Change Strike boss encounter design (more challenging, less bullet sponge)
- Change PVP reward drop randomization (possibly axe random entirely)

- Sparrow races
- Possibility of 4-man fireteams (?)
- Clan + Friends settings

You can totes debate the list, ya know. If there's anything you disagree with.

Fighting our way through the Cerberus Vae III strike on level 20, end boss nearly down, BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE... Bungie need to fix this.

-Axe the orbital layer entirely. Just have the map be part of the interface where you go to head back into orbit now.

Diablo 3, at least, does have a ton of NPC dialogue that you can listen to if you so choose. There are even side-quests that unlock through your followers dialogue options.

Diablo also has a ton of different locations and a ton of different enemy types. I hope they add more. Lame to have so few.

It's a little disingenuous to say Diablo has a ton of different locations... Enemy types are varied enough, sure.

Destiny right now is Diablo 3 Vanilla.

It's a good game, but it can be so much better. Add a bunch more loot and more raids/instanced areas for parties with more loot and I'll be happy. A level increase akin to Diablo 3's Paragon system would be welcome too, but I wouldn't expect that or any of this really anytime soon.

If Bungie expects longevity for this title than they really need to add more loot and more encounters (for example Diablo 3's abundance of Key Wardens and Nephalem Rifts).

Right now it's something that I'll come back to for a couple weeks, but I expect myself and a lot of people to drop off. There just doesn't seem to be enough content to justify playing it for as long as I intended =/.

It's just such a unique experience that I hope Bungie builds much more upon it, which I'm competent they will if they're anything like they were in the past for previous Halo titles.

13. I don't think being a high level or it being in competitive MP is a good justification.

I wasn't justifying your experience or mine. Just that it isn't like that in end game and I was asking for your frame of reference. And you don't even need great loot leveling. But yeah its pretty dry loot wise 5-15. They nerved the crap out of loot since beta.
