So... I decided to solo the Ishtar Collective mission on Venus on Hard. The recommended level was 15, and I was also level 15 at the time and I enjoy a challenge.

What in the shit. Fuck that mission. The struggle was so real I felt like I wasn't even playing the same game.
FUCK THE VEX WHY WON'T THEY DIE FROM HEADSHOTS AND HOW DO THE HEADSHOTS ACTUALLY MAKE THEM STRONGER. WAT

Shoot their giant white stomachs.

Welcome to fun.

Shoot them in the core. You're welcome.

I'd definitely say that it's better than any halo campaign. It's certainly longer by my approximation, and more varied in locale.
The 5 or so hours I put in so far have been fine but worse than any halo and less enemy and environment diversity by miles.

This whole game feels like a 20$ expansion on a full game.

Anyone else notice Sony playing a dirty game? Under what's new it states that everyone of my friends and me have played the the Digital Guardian Edition even though I bought a retail copy.

So, Bungie saying they wanted to delay reviews so that reviewers could play the full, player-populated experience actually meant they wanted to delay reviews so that people would buy Destiny before the reviewers skewered it over the fact that it has no real story, right?

Doubt bad reviews would have made much of a dent. The alpha/beta sold this game to the hardcore, marketing and positive word of mouth sold it to the casuals.

is there any way to customize the rectangle banner that your name appears in (with the symbol), like the color of it? i've seen other people's names in parties and sometimes they're a different color instead of white.

Yeah I realized it on the 2nd try and on right on the first wave.

I think the part that really got me was when they were just charging at me, and then there were those even bigger ones that make really scary sounds and made me go "NOPE FUCK OFF GO AWAY" First time I've actually felt the game was REALLY difficult on Hard as a primarily solo player.

From what the Giantbomb guys were saying the world being populated has zero impact on the game.

I'm sure they could use it at a semi legit argument but I believe that some of of the delay was to prevent the reviews from having and impact on sales.

When it was first announced review copies weren't going out until Monday I thought "Oh,
that's reasonable, the game is online so they want the servers up". After playing for a bit
I realized that's pretty much straight BS. Well played, Bungie.

I still like the game a lot, but the social aspects were pushed way too hard in previews.

Speaking of, is there an easier way to kill the bigger ones? I can't seem to find a core on them. They're just like Knights, except they can fucking teleport and sound scary.

Storm Shadow's girlfriend. Looks awesome

I've saved some engrams I picked up at a lower level and decrypted them 2-3 levels later. The items I got were never at a lower level than I was at the time of decryption, and some ended up being 2-3 levels higher than my current level. You can get common (white) items, but I was lucky to get some rares (blue) as well.

thanks for the response, I'll have to test it out... I swear the items I got were lower level but maybe they just weren't as good as the rare's i picked up on the venus strike missions I had done previously.

actually, now that I'm thinking about it I may be thinking about the end of mission gear, not the encrypted engrams found during the mission. either way I'll have to try that out.

In the character screen, click on the down arrow where your ships, sparrow, etc are and you can change your Emblem there IIRC.

Considering I and others who enjoyed the beta wouldn't have bought the game if all the people on twitter about 15ish hour "story" I can't help but think he's right.

Yeah the game is fun but ever aspect besides the art and combat seems half assed at best.

Bigger than any halo game? Please this feels hilariously tiny almost cod campaign levels of tiny except with a bunch of repeating the same areas.

>shrug<

I don't really know or care what it's bigger than, I just know that I'm not currently playing it and that's like all I want to be doing.

Everyone has their own opinion, but if even one person is genuinely enjoying it on the game's numerous merits, then there's a chance a reviewer might have the same opinion and thus they have no reason to sinisterly hide reviews from the public. There's nothing broken about it. I love it. A bunch of other people love it. We weren't tricked. Some people don't like it. People always don't like stuff.

But no one was tricked. There's no devious sneakiness. They let the planet try out the Beta, as a matter of fact.

Why would they have done that if they didn't want reviews coloring purchasing decisions.

As a matter of fact (I never played the Beta, but) aren't people saying the game is EXACTLY like the Beta? Why would they have let that happen if they then didn't want the game reviewed? Who would believe a review over their own experience that is apparently verbatim the experience of the game?

But, in the interest of time, here it is:

>The stars were mocking her. Sarah couldn’t shake that feeling, no matter how hard she tried. They were cold, and hollow, silently judging her like they were sentries for an unknown force far beyond the maximum range of her auto rifle. Like the thousand eyes of God, she thought. She shifted slightly in the grass, burrowing herself underneath the tall weeds, gripping her Angel’s Bane a bit closer to the chest, her finger resting on the trigger guard. I hate being out this late. Makes me all philosophical.

lololol, wait, are people having to create their own plot? My god, is it that barebones???

(nice job, btw).

I just want to make sure I'm not missing anything that has yet to be unlocked.. Chicago, The Mumbai Push, The city under the traveler, the snowy world with buried skyscrapers..... none of these places exist in the retail copy of Destiny, correct?

Why is this? Do the engrams give you higher level stuff if you wait until you're a higher level to decrypt them?

The stats scale to your level when you encrypt them, not when they drop. So if you encrypt them once you get to 20. you'll have gear that is statistically level 20. You'll find some better gear obviously at some point after hitting 20.. but it's nice to have that extra armor, damage right away rather than using the level 19 or under gear you were using before hitting the max

yeah i see you can change the emblem, but i swear i saw other people where the whole rectangle (not just the emblem) was changed to something different. mine just is white.

You probably are thinking of mission/strike rewards. I got crappy greens from the Moon strike, which I promptly dismantled.

And speaking of Public Events:

I had an awesome one while patrolling Venus last night. A Devil Walker got dropped in the middle of a bunch of Fallen, and 3 randoms and I teamed up to take it down. The intense music was perfect as I weaved in and out of combat, shooting the legs and reviving fellow Guardians. I died 3 times, but in the end we killed the Devil Walker and I got a perfect rating for the Event! I wish they happened a bit more frequently, though.

Something that is really confusing me is the amount of hate this game is getting. If I were to only look at N4G and see comments I would think this game is both awful and a giant flop not reaching sales goals anywhere. It's really crazy that SO many people want this to fail, I don't really understand. I'm having a LOT of fun with the game but some very vocal people are out there crossing their fingers hoping and wishing that the game fails. I really don't get it.

OMG the boss of the moon dungeon is near fucking impossible. WTF.

I dunno, but I feel like the massive amounts of knights and wizards spawn for anti-camping purposes. Usually they would come out of doors if they were normal spawns, but they just appear out of nowhere surrouding me and killing me.

Once my entire team was on the ground in the middle area, nothing spawned anymore.

We tried him like 5 times.

Just now getting blade dancer abilities but so far it seems much better for PVP than gunslinger. Yes the golden gun is pew pew godllike but bladedancer seems to be better without the meter built up.

Your first mistake was going to N4G ;)

But seriously, that "community" is so vitriolic that it's pathetic. That site has been going downhill for a while.

Outside of that, remember that you're (mostly) only going to be hearing bad reviews right now because the people that like/love it are busy playing it. They'll write their reviews when they come up for air.

This game on normal is too easy. Hard I just right.
