Destiny |OT23| This Train is Bound for Mercury

Except nobody uses legendary weapons as their weapon part source? (Ignoring the ToO farm method).

While running missions, Strikes and Patrol you get a ton of blues and greens which also dismantle into weapon parts. Don't get me wrong, I also think there should be a way to buy weapon parts. But the rate at which they're currently obtained through blue/green dismantling for active players should be far higher than your upgrading expenses.

It's only when you add re rolling into the mix that weapon part scarcity really sticks its head out. Before HoW, upgrading cost a lot more and even so I think we all had hundreds or thousands of spares anyways. Calling 25 weapon parts for ascending an exotic weapon "ridiculous" seems hyperbolic to me, but to each their own.
Cool, you proved my point. "Grind enough and weapon parts won't be an issue."

When I play, I'm either doing NF, PoE or Trials. None of those give out blue or green weapons at a high rate.

Jumping and aiming doesn't seem that hard with default controls.
You have to take your right thumb off the stick to hit X and then readjust your aim. With Jumper set up your thumb is never off the stick. Icarus is actually a decent perk now.

So I'm guessing this is just great for PvP? I find it hard to use when using the sword relic.
Swing and slam are all over the place.

I like it outside of PVP as well. Everything just feels more natural to me.

Yeah, I'm sure the defaults are comfortable for most people. I mean, that's why they are "default" I guess, right? Everyone will have different preferences of course. You do still have to take your finger off the right stick to jump with the default controls though.

Speaking of addictive urges... I'm thinking of getting an XBox One + Destiny just to create three new guardians.. and to play Destiny with some friends who've never seen the raid/end game content.
I thought about getting my son a One
I've already bought Destiny for Xbox One
Just so he could play with The odd One and E92 and these fine Xbox Bros.

Haven't yet.

the way i see it

exploiting in pve is cheesing
exploiting in pvp is cheating

both are gaining "unintended" advantages over the enemy.

How is gjallahorn a cheese?

And I've been killed by weaponless Guardians who used the strategy of not equipping weapons. Once I understood how that was possible, I stopped being mad about it, as it's not a cheat. Just a clever means of leveling. If it gets patched, it gets patched, but if it doesn't... Game on!

Referencing my post a few posts up, I consider this a cheat. Exploiting a bug to gain a huge advantage over the opponents? Sounds like cheating to me.

I tried it, and don't see it as a huge advantage. I'd say it's about as much of a cheat as emptying two rounds to get to "final round", or using the burn points from thorn to track a player that has gone behind a wall.

If it's something that can easily be used accidentally, then it may be dirty, but not a reportable cheat. For instance, I really like the spine arms and happen to equip the best looking helmet for my Hunter (CE helm), now all of a sudden I'm cheating if I use swarm grenades that can deter enemies from walking through a choke point? Trip mines suck for this because they can be disabled...swarm mines cannot.

Lol..already have the One ..and was seriously just thinking about that this morning. Maybe I need rehab

I still dont understand this swarm grenade exploit that is being talked about. Could someone explain it and why it is so bad.

People are stacking the Ashes to Assets perk, which when used with Swarm Grenade, allows them to get a super up very quickly. Each small grenade in the Swarm Grenade is incorrectly registering as a grenade kill when they hit.

thorn and final round arent cheating. a player intentionally speccing into ashes to assets and throwing scatter grenades around for super quick golden guns is knowingly exploiting a bug in the game.

skirmish used to let players win games by jumping off the map and reviving each other. knowing that it was an exploit, id say teams that did it were cheating.

cheating isnt the worst thing in the world so there's no reason to sugar coat it.

No I don't.

The weaponless load out is akin to the Ashes to Asset hunter perk being used or when Warlocks could infinitely rez back in the VoG days.

Yes, they are unintended means of ability use but it's not a cheat. Stop broad stroaking the term "cheat" - it lessens the severity of actual cheating (ie, lag switches and other game hacking).

No I don't.

I do the same thing! Thumb bumper ftw.

damn are you guys really overflowing with gear like that? i dont miss those days. until recently my vault was full of gear id give to my alts to help them level up, but nothing i wouldnt really use

i think youll still have the urge. but youll be carrying me this time :p

haha my vault is mostly full of cloaks

I don't want lose them :( lol

So each swarm grenade basically gets you a free super if they all hit the target. No one can defend this obvious glitch.

FINALLY the Vex is mine!!

Congrats!!!

I sherpa'd some Kinderguardians through VoG earlier this week on hard, and the one guy was going in for the very first time. He ended up getting a Universal Remote from the Gorgon chest, a bunch of armor pieces, and the Vex from Atheon. He was very happy.

I love VoG and still consider that the best thing to do in the game. Makes it even more enjoyable when you take people in who haven't done it before or haven't been able to finish it.

Huh, never thought of that as "cheating". Just looks like a cool feature of a specific build around that exotic. Using Khepri you can chose to:

  • Be a Gunslinger with the Stalker perk for invisibility
  • Be a Bladedancer, keeping Stalker perk while also getting the choice between Encore or Hungering Blade
  • Be a Bladedancer in a good stealth build with double Stalker perks on different cooldowns

All of these seem attractive for different encounters and entail distinct tradeoffs. Why do you think it's cheating?

In PvP the ability to be invis all the time seems like it was unintended and it feels like cheating the same as the scatter grenade GG exploit.

Would you report people for cheating if you saw them doing that? Dirty, exploiting, cheating...I guess the term doesn't matter, just whether you (the community, bungie) think it's bannable or not.

Sometimes. I think there is a reason every youtube video is PvE, because it felt real inconsistent in PvP. Hopefully it turn out to just be a mole hill.

it wont be bannable because there is no way to differentiate players who already had the perk and grenade from those who hopped on the bandwagon. it isnt as deliberate as the heavy ammo exploit was.

im not going to be high and mighty about it unless i see it abused in Trials.

Yeah, I hope so. I really wonder why Bungie didn't mention it in the weekly update. Maybe they just haven't gotten word of it yet.

Imo invis is pretty useless in PvP. It's more likely to give away your position with the activation noise, and we all have better eyesight than Scrota.
