Who here uses the Bumper Jumper control scheme and how difficult was it to transition from the default scheme?

I am reading how much better it is for PvP.

It's a good scheme but if your used to the other one then you might accidentally press one of the old wrong buttons during the tense sweaty PvP close encounters for a while. Also gotta be careful about hitting the R3 melee by accident.

So I just played this guy in Rumble. He showed up on the intro screen holding no weapon and through the match, he had no weapon equipped. He would just go invisible, run around, and kill people with the Khepri's sting. He was in the lead for most of the match, actually. How would you do this glitch and what would be the point?

What you'll need: Patience, husk of the pit
I've seen this before and want to try it sometime. Basically, you start a new character. In the first mission, picking up the secondary weapon is optional (so if you're don't open the chest, your secondary slot stays empty! Heavy is also optional, but that comes later). Once you hit the tower, fill up your inventory with engrams (probably from another character), so that you can't pick up any more weapons. You run through the game as normal with only the primary weapon (you can change the primary, it doesn't matter). Once you hit lvl. 16, equip the husk of the pit. Make sure you have no equipable weapons at all, and the upgrade the husk to the eidolin ally. Since eidolin ally requires lvl. 20, it will be automatically unequipped(since you're lvl. 16), leaving you with nothing in any of your weapon slots. Place it in your vault, and enjoy your no weapons character!

There were several videos posted on this if you want visual stuff.

Yeah I reported him, but I still don't see the point of the cheat. Faster move speed when you're not holding weapons maybe? Does that even make sense? I think if you are invis and you jump over somone and look down and melee, you get the hit from behind bonus, kind of like jumping over someone in SF and still hitting them.
It's not really a cheat, there's no advantage at all for the player. Some people just get bored with the same old stuff and want to mix it up. I've done pretty much the same thing on my titan a few times, mk.44's + mida, then only shoulder charge, no gun kills.

new level characters can be a fresh take on the game if you have someone to help with the higher level story missions or PvP. i'll do it with you

I'll wait until we get some more vault space, so I can keep all the gear I have on my alts. Maybe I'll have lost the urge by then anyway. :p

When does ToO start? I wanna hear stories of people exploiting the bug.

With the power of PS4Share, cheaters are gonna be mad easy to report.

I actually had that happen to me when I used my Crux of Crota. The thing is, you still have secondary and heavy weapons equipped. This guy had no weapons equipped at all somehow.

How is it not a cheat if he had no guns at all equipped? Like I said, I don't see the point, but he definitely glitched something out on purpose. I played a shoulder charge only round of Twilight Gap three IBs ago and got 23 kills, so I've done it for fun too.

Forget the old system, that's irrelevant.

Bungie reduced all upgrade costs to limit the grind and allow players to upgrade weapons/armor more easily. Currently, the ONLY way to get weapon parts currently is by dismantling other weapons. Legendaries (w/ no xp) only give 2-3 parts each. So that's roughly 9-13 LEGENDARY weapons needed to ascend one exotic. That to me that's kinda ridiculous.

Except nobody uses legendary weapons as their weapon part source? (Ignoring the ToO farm method).

While running missions, Strikes and Patrol you get a ton of blues and greens which also dismantle into weapon parts. Don't get me wrong, I also think there should be a way to buy weapon parts. But the rate at which they're currently obtained through blue/green dismantling for active players should be far higher than your upgrading expenses.

It's only when you add re rolling into the mix that weapon part scarcity really sticks its head out. Before HoW, upgrading cost a lot more and even so I think we all had hundreds or thousands of spares anyways. Calling 25 weapon parts for ascending an exotic weapon "ridiculous" seems hyperbolic to me, but to each their own.

Good Morning DGAF!

Happy Birthday Destiny!

I think I played the Alpha? It doesn't stick with me, although I do have it in my PS4 library. I do remember playing the beta, and that's where it got it's hooks in me, haven't looked back since.

"Bungie time" 10am PST/1pm EST.

I dont think it's going to be that big of a deal. Just have to be a bit more cautious pushing in.

There is another cheat that also allows that player to be Invis almost 100% of the time. You can glitch the cooldowns of the exotic arms plus the blade dancer crouch Invis so that they are on different timers by equipping the gloves while you are Invis. Then every time you crouch you go Invis with no cooldown.

I heard it got patched back in. Haven't ran the mission to find out for sure tho.
Can confirm, the line was patched back in, but it doesn't play every time.

I remember doing the grotto run in the alpha/beta days. Basically, at lvl. 8, hop on your sparrow and try to get through the grotto without dying the the lvl. ??? Enemies, including several knights, acolytes, thralls, 2 wizards and a shreiker. Good times.

Not sure if I want to attempt to get 34 PoE done, it will be enough to me to level 34 on my PS4 character but the only 365 weapon I have right now is Ice Breaker. Gjalla is almost there.

You will waste your super a good bit before you get used to it. And throw grenades at enemies right in front of you instead of using your melee. Didn't take me too long though, but I will still occasionally press X out of habit.

No it's not that hard. Anyone can do this by manipulating the app or b.net and in game at the same time. It's a dismantle glitch. It works with unequipping armor too. There are several videos on it on YouTube.

Ha! I also Re-rolled my OG Jolders Hammer yesterday, as well. I needed a good Arc MG because the Trials on hasn't been cutting it in 35 POE. Rolled Rangefinder, Field scout (!!!), and Crowd control.

My solar JH is from the OG rolls. My arc and void JHs are the new rolls.

Dat field scout + max ammo. Heavies for days.

Huh, never thought of that as "cheating". Just looks like a cool feature of a specific build around that exotic. Using Khepri you can chose to:

  • Be a Gunslinger with the Stalker perk for invisibility
  • Be a Bladedancer, keeping Stalker perk while also getting the choice between Encore or Hungering Blade
  • Be a Bladedancer in a good stealth build with double Stalker perks on different cooldowns

All of these seem attractive for different encounters and entail distinct tradeoffs. Why do you think it's cheating?

As to the first question, in the wall of text I said how it's done (basically, don't pick up the secondary or heavy weapons at all).

I guess you could consider it a cheat depending on how you define it. I think of a cheat as an exploit or breaking of a game to grant advantages to a player. Since this actually puts the player who did the process at a disadvantage, I don't really consider it as a reportable cheat.

I tried to switch yesterday, and while it's better for those that are constantly jumping, it didn't work for me as I would accidentally melee too often during those sweaty close encounters by pressing the right stick just a tad too hard.

I keep hearing about this PvP player AEGabriel who is considered the "Air Titan" because he takes advantage of the Titan's jet pack boosts and can quickly traverse the map faster than normal. So he is constantly jumping and boosting so this control scheme may work well with a Titan.

On a side note, do you have ToO teams lined up for tonight? I get home at 7 PM EST. Otherwise tomorrow would be great.

I've been working on transitioning for three days now. I'm almost used to it. I still "panic super" sometimes and don't remember that super is on X. Jump was the quickest to pick up since it's the button you use most often.

I'm used to the melee since I've always used green thumb.

It's a good scheme but if your used to the other one then you might accidentally press one of the old wrong buttons during the tense sweaty PvP close encounters for a while. Also gotta be careful about hitting the R3 melee by accident.

Its a tough transition... I keep using my super accidentally

Yeah, I would expect this but if the payoff is worth it then I may try practicing during regular Crucible and PvE.

I find it hard to melee with that control scheme.

Interesting, it makes sense though. I couldn't imagine that many people going through the whole story like that again, although before you could transfer stuff via the app, that's how I saw it done. Both work, but Deku's post is way less time consuming than mine ;)

Yeah I know, that's what he was doing, but that's an exploit not a glitch.

money got a lot more value now as i mainly use it to buy engrams and green weapons from the gunsmith to get weapon parts.

and it's basically just back to the moon door to grind and selling out the excessive amounts of Ascendant Shards.

I could never go back to the default controls, so I would say it's worth it. I switched near the beginning of Destiny though, so the transition wasn't all that bad for me. Definitely some accidental supers along the way though.

I'm sorry, I thought you were just describing the known primary glitch so I glazed over it. That was rude of me.
It's not cheating though.
The perk is supposed to be on kills, not impact, so it's cheating.

damn are you guys really overflowing with gear like that? i dont miss those days. until recently my vault was full of gear id give to my alts to help them level up, but nothing i wouldnt really use

i think youll still have the urge. but youll be carrying me this time :p

It wasn't too difficulty. A few nightfalls and a couple Crucible matches and a PoE. Then I used it fully afterwards all weekend long in trials and I love it. Just made the complete transition last week and I'm completely used to it.

Melee with r3 has been the hardest especially blade dancer. But that only took a couple of blade dance fails and now it's in me

Looking to hit up the Nightfall or a 32 PoE tonight (or both) when I get home tonight after work. That is if anyone will bring a novice to these two activities. I currently have both a 32 Titan and Hunter I'm looking to run through.

PSN: DisheveledZen

Anything I should know before attempting either of these? Or any specific equipment I should bring?

I really don't like dismantling things. It's a collector's problem...

Yikes, I'll give it a shot though!

You, me and one more for ToO i'm back in shape for pvp!

Haha, totally! This weekend for sure.

Yeah I agree and good to hear that you endorse the change.

So I have a 4 hour window where some people are coming over to fix stuff. 1 hour is almost up. I hate 4 hour windows! But hopefully they finish before 3 hours from now which trials starts.

No problem, I also often just glaze over when I see walls of text like that, but I just can't keep myself from typing them! My mind just likes to keep going sometimes.

I think it will be worth the effort. I already feel more mobile and feel like I can get into a flow where I'm really traversing the map more quickly. I don't think I'll really start seeing returns until it's second nature, AND I push myself to do things while airborne.
