Fantastic guide. Should be in the OP of this and every other Destiny thread. I hadn't fully grasped the relationship between Reputation, Marks, Light etc. but you explained it much, much better than the actual game does. As a level 21 I'm thankful for your writeup as it will probably keep me progressing a lot faster and with less frustration than would have been the case otherwise.
Craziest thing is it kind of brought the enjoyment back to engrams for me in a different way. I'm stockpiling up to 10 or 15 legendary engrams and then I'll pop 'em all at once, like a lotto drawing. :>
Bungie has always enjoyed sharing games with our community. Destiny will be no different. Instead of targeting specific community leaders or luminaries to step up and try to cave in our helmets, we’re randomizing the event. To put it a different way, we’re putting a bounty on our own heads.

Sorry i should have clarified. I meant that the player base reduced it to that. I fully understand Bungies design was to gain reputation and marks to aquire gear. Pump the brakes...

I think the postmaster has a "lost item" function for that case. I may be wrong.
