I think Bungie said that by being in a clan you can earn rewards just from your clan members' achievements and not just your own. So in theory if you're in a clan of 100 people chances are you'll be getting a decent amount of loot without actually doing anything. Probably just emblems etc. rather than actual gear, but still.
Also it should make getting a fireteam together a hell of a lot easier.

So torn. Never played Destiny one but GoG has Destiny 2 digital deluxe for 81.99. Nearly 20 dollars off but the deal ends Monday. The day right before the PC beta where I was gonna decide if I was all in.

I'm sooo excited to be back into Destiny, less than two weeks already! I joined the Destiny 1 community a bit late (right before Rise of Iron) but had an amazing experience, this time I'll be right there from the very beginning

If it gets close to release and the rosters aren't close to getting filled, we can always merge a couple of the PS4 clans as needed. We are up around 15 now, so plenty of room..

We're not quite sure to be honest. Earlier interviews indicated rolling midnight launch, but nothing explicit about how that would be handled for the US (midnight eastern or midnight pacific?).
D1 servers turned on the day before launch & physical copies were sold at midnight and digital copies unlocked at midnight pacific.
So we don't know exactly.
Midnight release is what bungie has said.
There is still no definitive info on how it will role out for time zones, but reddit has this to say about it;
Last several releases for US customers it was based on eastern time zone. So as soon as it hits 12AM eastern it works for the rest so 11 central 10 mountain and 9 pacific. (Digital only) - UNCONFIRMED
