Destiny |OT7| "In the Garden of Suros" by I. Ron Banner

Running around every corner blindly and getting shotgunned repeatedly, spinning in circles when under fire indicating that they're not using the radar, standing perfectly still when firing/being fired upon, not playing the capture points... The dude had 29 kills and nearly as many deaths.

He was a class apart.

Right, but your inventory only shows what you are holding. If you have alt characters, most likely you will store most of your motes and coins in the vault. Unfortunately the "vault" section on the website doesn't show the count of items in the vault.

I don't understand what you mean. I have alt characters and see everything in the Vault through the Bungie app

I hate the First Blood bounty. It's 90% luck. And if someone else gets the first kill, I have to either waste my time finishing the match until the next round or bail out.

Not a fan of it either, but I do alright with it when playing Control and going straight for B with a sniper rifle.

Just hit level 20 last night. Trying to read through the guides in the OP but it's confusing by virtue of not seeing these mechanics and intended play style explained or mentioned anywhere, and it's a lot to take in and remember. Going to have to make myself a checklist to remember what to each day and week, and what resources to focus on earning.

It is daunting seeing the gulf between where I want to be and where I am, and what I have to do to get there.

You guys talking about "wanting everyone to just be happy" are delirious.

Mostly all of us crave competition. Thats why we play these games. We dont' want everyone on a level playing field. We want the rare shit, the stuff that 'sort of' shows that we played the shit out of this game and this is what I have to show for it.

The exotics aren't anything special. 90% of them have a legendary equivelant. We just want them because they are "exotic", not because they make the game more fun.

The only exotics that are truly unique are the IceBreaker, Gjallarhorn, Pocket Infinity. And two of them have been on sale already.

Bungie's vision on every exotic having a story is partly true. I have a story for every one of my Exotics. I got the Gjallahorn for beating the Archon Priest this week. I got Truth for beating the Nexus nightfall.

Those stories lose a lot of luster when they are.... "I bought this from Xur."
I got my Plan C from beating Talus without an arc special weapon last week; I got Thunderlord for beating my first Nightfall. My Knucklehead Radar, I purchased with currency I earned through weekly heroic strikes, engrams found gamewide, and public events, and saved up. The "exotics have a story" concept really applies the most to Exotic bounties, which are legitimately a progressive ordeal to acquire as evidenced by the many posts in these threads about the trouble people have had in the Crucible along the way, desperation for the Gunsmith to sell blue fusion rifles already, postings asking for help with Xyor, etc. Regardless, anyone could get, for example, Gjallarhorn from losing a match of PvP. The argument that "any given exotic should be statistically rare, difficult to obtain, and only available to certain players" is nullified by the game's core design, with the exception of a select few. Building a collection of exotics is crucial to any player's enjoyment in Destiny and that includes casual players who will take longer to do so, but still have the ability

"mostly all of us crave competition"/"we don't want everyone on a level playing field" This is a broad swath of gamers you're speaking as the representative of. I crave competition in PvP, but would prefer everyone on a level playing field, because that would mean the competition was based solely on skill. Meanwhile in PvE it's only a bonus to me if I'm in a game with someone who has the specific items they have always dreamed of. The kicker here is that the raid legendary armor, weapons, ship, shader and sparrow do meet your "we played the shit out of this game and this is what I have to show for it" description. The same actually goes for the IB gear at present. Just because they aren't exotic rarity doesn't mean they don't count. Most players will never come close to seeing a Fatebringer or Timebreaker in their inventory.

Your isolation of the "only 3 truly unique exotics" is laughable. I assume you're only including weapons, but there are no other guns like Thorn. Invective is a full auto shotgun that regenerates ammo. The Last Word literally has entire animations that no other gun is privy to and is handled differently than any other hand cannon. Bad Juju has a completely unique buff and is instantly recognizable. Patience and Time is a sniper rifle that cloaks and takes you off radar when you zoom down the scope. The Universal Remote is a shotgun that goes in your primary weapon slot. The Mida Multi-Tool boosts your movement speed and has its own radar. You can go ahead and attempt to tell me my Hawkmoon isn't unique, I guess, but even the SUROS Regime is incredibly unique in appearance and sound compared to other auto rifles. And we all know about the Mythoclast.

Managed to do Flawless Raider yesterday. Man, that was a rush. Gorgon maze was completely out of sync, so had to improvise how to get past them safely. By the time we arrived at the jumping platform section i was shaking and sweating like crazy. Last time i had this feeling was back in the WoW days competing for world first kills. We never really practiced Atheon encounter much so we went over roles and strategy for 20 mins. And nailed it first try without any problem whatsoever. In the end we all got the Flawless Raider tropy. After wards we went to hard mode and got the hard mode trophy as well. Sadly no Vex Pulse Rifle. All in all, very productive evening. Just need to do 50 ghosts and level my warlock and the platinum is mine....

Icebreaker and Voidfang. Nice to see he mixed it up this week. I could afford both pieces but I'll have to think about it some. I know people sing Icebreaker's praise, but it's ugly as shit and its most redeeming quality seems to be its ammo regen. While that is nice, I'm just not sure it's worth replacing the legendary sniper with solar damage that I already have. I'll have to look at it more closely when I'm home tonight.

You angry as hell man don't stroke out over it.

Hahah. I am being intentionally patronizing and I think it is hilarious that people are mad us peasants got an exotic. I could give two shits how butthurt they are. I got an icebreaker today, it is fucking awesome and I am mad stoked.

Let's be real too. The only weapons that have a story attached to them besides "RNGesus favored me!" are the ones you got through exotic bounties. Even that's kind of pushing it since it's basically a check list that will be identical to everyone, but those (and arguably the ones you buy) are the only ones you actually earn.

I'll do a few tiger strikes hoping to get lucky for the remaining coins but I'm not going to go crazy trying to get Icebreaker like I did with the sunbreakers last week.

My Patience and Time looks worse and worse compared to the Icebreaker though...

Oh, never made an alt.

Oh, you should. Back when Rahool was in top form, he gave me a bunch of loot for a Titan. Between that and getting a Titan Helm from Xur's mote of light engram, I leveled a baby Titan to 24 in about 6 hours.

The grind from 24 to 28 is still hard since I don't have much armor mats from breaking down junk like I did with my main.

So being able to wipe the floor with lower level players is some how better competition than a level playing field where it is skill, not poopsock RNG loot that makes the difference. You are contradicting yourselves. Again, people who run raids with multiple characters all of a sudden don't think they have anything to show for their time just because a handful of people managed to buy a gun with a currency they earned? You guys are in a world of your own where you think anywhere near the majority of players are able to buy icebreaker of have gear anywhere near the "leets". Let's take a quick look at the trophy percentages to maybe give a few e-dicks in here some Viagra:

21.3% of players own a single piece of exotic gear. You are still better than 3/4 of the players congrats

Only 9.8% have every slot with an exotic or legendary. Congrats, you are getting even more elite.

Complete a raid, only 4.9% Yet there are people who do it with three different characters multiple times a week!

Just simply fully upgrading a single subclass, the work of pathetic peasants, ranges from %8.3-%9.7 of players. That is insane! You are made l337 just with your subclass being leveled, let alone all your sweet ass legs and exotics! That dick getting hard yet?

And guess what, of the possible 22% of players who at max! now own the Icebreaker, only 3.3% have ever fully leveled an exotic. Shit only %3.9 have even fully leveled a legendary.

Your edicks are huge, congrats. Grow the fuck up and stop hating on others enjoying the game differently than you.

I know I'm far and away more advanced than the "average" player. Thats not what I'm after. I've played the game over 100 hours. There should be more that differentiates my character than someone who casually plays.

Its not about being "better" than anyone else in the game. Most exotics don't do anything that their legendary equivelant can't do.

Except for the IceBreaker, Gjallarhorn, and Pocket Infinity (and a few others Hawkian mentioned above.) Those shouldn't be easily obtained.

There isn't enough honesty int his thread.

I refuse to believe that everyone in here has a smile on their face that the Icebreaker is for sale and now thousands of more people will have it. "Oh, well I'm just glad that everyone gets to enjoy the Icebreaker now..."

You can't upgrade Time Breaker. That speed upgrade only works with rare speeders.

Well that sucks. Testing it out last night it's currently the same speed as the rare sparrows without the speed upgrade. So they can get faster than my TimeBreaker then with the upgrade... *sigh*

Not to discount that helm, it's great for striker Titan.

But ice breaker is so much more useful for end game.

Did you already do the weekly heroic on 28?

It's the helm I def want for my striker. Plus I think it looks the best. Lol

My guy is only 26 so I did it only a lower difficulty. Unfortunately I'm not going to be able to play again till Sunday.

I know that I'm happy.

Besides, there's Raid Gear if you really want to "feel better" about having something exclusive.

(All of this shit will be obsolete when the DLC comes out. Not to mention when the second game comes out and everyone starts all over)

Crap Xur has that helm I want for my Titan but I am one strange coin short. Annoying.

Already did the weekly heroic too. Guess I need to shoot up a prayer to RNG and hope it is kind

Oh yeah, was doing crucible with some friends and got a SUROS Regime. Man is this thing killer.

Got Thunderlord from IB yesterday (I know it's random, but I had the highest k/d!)
Any thoughts? Been running with zombie apocalypse since week 1, love the stability.

It literally does not upset me in the slightest that some people will turn on Destiny this morning and buy a new sniper rifle. Why would it?

starting to feel like RNGesus has forsaken me. 30 hours of play and I've seen exactly one legendary item (unfriendly giant). Stuck at lvl 24 playing crucible, daily missions, strike playlist, weekly strikes, nothing gets me anything worthwhile. All I get are blue engrams that decode into blue crap that's worse than what I have already or motes/coins. Am I doing something wrong or just cursed? I'm still enjoying PvP but it's discouraging to play match after match and never get anything.

Congrats man. Wow. I think our group is close to being able to handle it. We didn't die at all on Atheon in our last run. I could see gorgon's maze being a bitch and certainly phases of the Templar. Any tips for either?

Ice breaker. :)
Thanks I found... and yeap it is the only great think today.

Exotic Helmut Engram again... really?

Voidfang Vestments is interesting but I'm a Sunbro.

The others classes items are good? Just asking because I will level up a Titan and Hunter in the future.

How feasible is it to get 12 strange coins before Sunday?

Have you done the Weekly on level 28? You get 9 just from that, you can also try Nightfall since that can sometimes reward coins. I got rewarded from it the other day with 10 coins so in 1 week from both missions I got 19 coins. Plus along the way some blue engrams turned into coins.

The assertion that this is not the case is ludicrous. How many exotics/legendaries do you have?
Its not about being "better" than anyone else in the game. Most exotics don't do anything that their legendary equivelant can do.
Assume you mean "can't" do; many Exotics are superior versions of a legendary equivalent, yes, but this is also an important part of the design because it is necessary to have legendary weapons. They're not supposed to be crap in comparison.
Except for the IceBreaker, Gjallarhorn, and Pocket Infinity. Those should be easily obtained.
More easily obtained? Or is the current balance okay?

Please. Sure I'm happy about people getting the weapon I want, but the smile on my face is more along the lines of "yesss now the odds of someone on my fireteam having an Ice Breaker are higher"!

If you haven't done the weekly it shouldn't be too hard if you have some time.

Do level 28 weekly then do tigerstrike until you get enough from engrams. I average 2 engrams per run from rewards screen. Possibly more with drops.

Haven't done the weekly yet, was planning on it. The last 3 coins were what I was skeptical about.

Nightfall rewarding coins is random, though? I'm assuming the last 3 coins will be up to RNG?
