Need to let Gaffers know I may not always join Party Chat anymore for PVP. The way the chat lowers the game audio is too low for me to be aware of where the enemies are. Totally ruins me and makes me do worst than when I'm solo. Game chat is fine tho.

You guys talking about "wanting everyone to just be happy" are delirious.

Mostly all of us crave competition. Thats why we play these games. We dont' want everyone on a level playing field. We want the rare shit, the stuff that 'sort of' shows that we played the shit out of this game and this is what I have to show for it.

The exotics aren't anything special. 90% of them have a legendary equivelant. We just want them because they are "exotic", not because they make the game more fun.

The only exotics that are truly unique are the IceBreaker, Gjallarhorn, Pocket Infinity. And two of them have been on sale already.

Bungie's vision on every exotic having a story is partly true. I have a story for every one of my Exotics. I got the Gjallahorn for beating the Archon Priest this week. I got Truth for beating the Nexus nightfall.

Those stories lose a lot of luster when they are.... "I bought this from Xur."
How is that any different from the justification people have for the rest of the game?
Basically the only way to level up is to grind rep to buy gear... so instead of buying Faction gear, you're buying Exotic gear. That's just how the game is made.

Wrong, I don't give a shit about competition. I like cooperation and collecting stuff. I managed to complete the Pocket Infinity bounty yesterday. It felt awesome. I don't care if Xur sells it and people buy it. The more the merrier. Then we'll have more fun completing coop missions and getting through the Raid to get more Raid gear.

And the stories are not "I bought this from Xur", they're "I solo'ed Nightfall and got loot, worked together with 2 strangers I met on GAF and got some more loot, and then went and treated myself to some awesome gear".

Yep, hopefully that will be my story tonight. :)
And I find it way more exciting than "I got lucky on a drop".

So, I've only got 7 Strange coins. Any possible way I can get up to 23 in just a few hours tomorrow before Xur is gone?

So being able to wipe the floor with lower level players is some how better competition than a level playing field where it is skill, not poopsock RNG loot that makes the difference. You are contradicting yourselves. Again, people who run raids with multiple characters all of a sudden don't think they have anything to show for their time just because a handful of people managed to buy a gun with a currency they earned? You guys are in a world of your own where you think anywhere near the majority of players are able to buy icebreaker of have gear anywhere near the "leets". Let's take a quick look at the trophy percentages to maybe give a few e-dicks in here some Viagra:

21.3% of players own a single piece of exotic gear. You are still better than 3/4 of the players congrats

Only 9.8% have every slot with an exotic or legendary. Congrats, you are getting even more elite.

Complete a raid, only 4.9% Yet there are people who do it with three different characters multiple times a week!

Just simply fully upgrading a single subclass, the work of pathetic peasants, ranges from %8.3-%9.7 of players. That is insane! You are made l337 just with your subclass being leveled, let alone all your sweet ass legs and exotics! That dick getting hard yet?

And guess what, of the possible 22% of players who at max! now own the Icebreaker, only 3.3% have ever fully leveled an exotic. Shit only %3.9 have even fully leveled a legendary.

Your edicks are huge, congrats. Grow the fuck up and stop hating on others enjoying the game differently than you.

The weapon (Ice breaker) costs 17 this time. Getting 10 would be tough but you can get 9 if you do the weekly strike on the hardest difficulty.

Fuck yeah! So glad I passed up on the suros last week and saved my coins. Woooo.

I can't wait to get on and buy it, and then have it drop an hour later...

Re: Complaints about people being "gifted" the Ice Breaker (and other exotics) instead of earning it.

I think the main aspect of the argument you guys are presenting that confuses me is; why does bettering someone else's enjoyment of the game lessen it for you? The argument could be made for the Suros as it would affect PvP a lot more than the Ice Breaker will, yet, you still had/have the same opportunity to get it as everyone else.

The fact that some people bought these exotics does not, in any way, cheapen the weapon for anyone. I've passed on every single exotic weapon Xur was selling just so I could buy this. I wanted the suros. I wanted the gjallarhorn. I wanted the red death. I wanted other exotic armors. Yet I passed time and time again for this.

People say "well you didn't earn it, you just bought it." Ok, how did you earn it? Did you kill a level 6 dreg on the moon and get a lucky drop? Maybe. Did you afk a PvP match and got a lucky reward afterwards as a result? Possibly. Did you beat something very challenging like a nightfall strike or a raid? Also a possibility. Ok. What about the other guys who have done the exact same thing as you 100x over? Guys who have spent 100+ hours, run 75+ strikes, played countless PvP matches, completed every nightfall strike, finished the raid multiple times... run heroic strikes and created alts to run more so they could save up enough coins for this weapon. Is that not in any way the same or better than some of the ways you "earned" your weapon?

Let's be real. This is a loot game. Some people get lucky, others don't. Just because you got lucky doesn't mean everyone else should have to "suffer" through the slog of grinding until, they too, get lucky. I can somewhat understand your point if you consider someone who's just picked up the game and after a week has the coins to buy this when you had to wait a month to get a lucky drop. But at the end of the day, how does it affect you really? I got the raid AR and scout after my first raid run... so at first, I can see why to some it may make those weapons feel "cheaper" to me if they were for sale all the sudden. But, they're still not gifted to you, and I also have NO IDEA what the people buying those weapons have gone through just to hope they get a lucky drop like you or I did. In this case, I'm the one who got lucky with my raid gear. The other guy may have worked a hell of a lot harder than I did to get the raid weapons I already have.

In terms of exclusivity; you still have the raid weapons and armor you can get nowhere else but the raid. My guess is this trend will continue in future raids. So, what you're looking for is present in the game. I just don't see how you getting a lucky drop a week after the game launched, possibly from afk'ing a pvp match, seems to be a more justifiable method than someone who's played the game for countless hours grinding, hoping for that same luck who then has to result to buying it with coins they've saved since day 1 because they never found it.

I spent all morning running around with the ice breaker and am loving every second of it. It won't make me play less. It won't make me enjoy the game less. It won't ruin the loot drop anticipation or anything else for me. It's making me enjoy a game I already enjoy even more. I don't have to slog through a bunch of grind-y scenarios hoping I one day get lucky like you did. Turning in 100's of blues and 50+ purples and never getting what I'm looking for sucks. I've earned this. Same as you.

I hate the First Blood bounty. It's 90% luck. And if someone else gets the first kill, I have to either waste my time finishing the match until the next round or bail out.

1. Guaranteed 9 coins for Weekly Heroic strike at level 28.
2. Possible stack (5?) of coins from completing Nightfall.
3. Possible decrypt item from engrams.
4. Possible drop from multiplayer playlists.
5. If you still need coins bad consider rolling an alt in the future.

Sounds like you are downplaying the stories it took obtain the coins to be able to buy it in the first place. I bet those stories are far more interesting than "RNG" or "decrypted from blue".

Clearly they weren't.

Running around every corner blindly and getting shotgunned repeatedly, spinning in circles when under fire indicating that they're not using the radar, standing perfectly still when firing/being fired upon, not playing the capture points... The dude had 29 kills and nearly as many deaths.

hawk wanted to see coins/motes. It shows that.

Right, but your inventory only shows what you are holding. If you have alt characters, most likely you will store most of your motes and coins in the vault. Unfortunately the "vault" section on the website doesn't show the count of items in the vault.

If you want the Icebreaker, it's only 17.

So 9 from the Weekly and then just hope to get lucky in the Crucible or from farming Engrams.

Alright, thanks. Is the weekly Heroic capable of being done solo? If I can do that I will only need one more.

Bought the ice breaker from xur, gambled on 2 exotic engrams. Received the symbiote hunter helm and the bone warlock helm! Perfect as that's the 2 classes I roll with. Great way to start a Friday!
