Simply needless, pointless. Why? I'll never get this, ever.

uh. it's not that hard to decipher. there are people who think titanfall is an awful game that didn't sell and no one plays. which isn't true.

not that I'm defending geese, it's just easy to see what he's saying.

Gies is historically biased in the favor of Microsoft. Which wouldn't be bad if he didn't take it to obnoxious levels like the above and then deny everything.

There's a reason why he's banned here.

Ah cool. I don't follow Gies or Titanfall so I had some trouble figuring out the context.

I don't see why he felt the need to compare the two. It's about as pointless as people bring it up in here. Which makes him just look like a bad journalist.

.

But seriously though, Gies should probably be less crazy defensive :P

Gies, like Adam Sessler (back when he was in the media), Tom Warren, and TB, really needs to have someone withhold Twitter from him. They just can't seem to deal with not only having that much direct exposure to their audience personally, but the worst of themselves comes out in that environment.
It's Gies running to the defence of his precious Microsoft's big exclusive.
He's just mad he didn't get a fragrance sample.

yeah, I don't get what those other posters are doing and I know they've seen it on GAF. We get a topic at least once a month implying Titanfall was a flop or something.

So it's not worth my $70 in PSN money?

What would be a better use of it? I kind of liked the demo but these reviews are just damning.

Yeah Shadow of Mordor sounds good. Thats at the end of this month, but maybe just wait and see, lots of games coming out in the next few months.

Im getting kinda hyped on Evil Within.

Driveclub + Season Pass? Destiny seems like it has the foundation for some great experiences, and even though I am quite disappointed by it, I can't deny that I've had tonnes of fun either.

He's not banned. He just got scared after losing a bet and refusing to pay up and hasn't been back since.

There is that, but that doesn't call for that tweet, nor is it relevant. At least myself and others can have a mature discussion about how it wasn't a flop without resorting to his antics.

I find myself agreeing with most every con presented in the reviews (especially regarding the story, or lack-thereof)

And yet I don't care, I'm just having way too much fun!

Not me. Since the 6s and 7s rolled in, the game stopped being fun. In order to enjoy it again, I must take to the keyboard and defend the game's honor. I cant enjoy it while others' opinion is that it is a 6/10 game. There can only be one.

It only doesn't make sense if someone randomly pulls that single tweet from twitter and doesn't bother to mention that he has been chatting with people on twitter for the past 14 hours about Destiny, his review and there are people bringing up Titanfall. Therefore, that tweet.

Well dammit Neuro you're right.

And he can't be the professional to just leave it at that there's no relevance? I get that a ton of shitty people sending tweets gets to someone, but it has been an ongoing thing with him. Stooping to that level just feeds the flames.

I guess, but why respond, why give them fuel. Needless, pointless

Maybe I'm stupid, but what in the actual fuck is he saying here?

Like, this seriously does not read like a coherent, intelligent thought to me. What a putz.

The post was literally right there.

I laugh at some of these reviews - like a 6 from polygon is ridiculous. If that is the new standard they are setting for this game, then I hope they stay consistent for future releases. Which they wont, because all this hate is purely click bait to get people to read their articles.

I'm no fanboy, but Destiny is a solid title. There ARE some legit concerns raised in certain reviews, but you can obviously tell that these worries are spawned by the individual hype they allowed themselves to get wrapped up in.

The game is a solid shooter, with good single and multi-player components. It has a fair bit of depth, with loot, levelling and character progression and is easily between 8 to 9 out of 10. BUT, like all reviews that is my opinion and it should be taken with a grain of salt.

You're delusional if you think it's a a solid game. The single player is repetitive garbage.

Holy shit. Destiny has scored lower than Killzone Shadow Fall on metacritict..

Well I have a bit of a bias because im a franchise fan, but ShadowFall is very much a better overall game. People get hung up on a couple of setpieces and just all out label the game as being terrible.
I tend to not defend the game here on GAF as its sort of pointless. Hit up the official thread though. Plenty of people liked - loved it.

Has Bungie commented on the reception yet?

To my knowledge, no. They have been spreading around that image of the future free content updates, which might be an effort to show that fresh content is already coming down the pipeline.

I can't help but wonder how they're going to respond. I think it all depends on if the reception is actively damaging the reputation of the franchise and resulting in a leaking playerbase, or if the reviews aren't changing anything and the average gamer is content with the product.

For me personally, I would like to see them acknowledge that future content updates are going to change some of the game's flaws and push it in the right direction. In particular I would enjoy seeing them acknowledge the flaws in the boss design and start working towards some more interesting mechanics. Their response to that will determine if I'm going to keep playing or not.

I'm worried that they're too far in on the expansions to make any meaningful changes, however. What if they're just going to keep tanking this thing out?

what grades did watchdogs end up with?

its interesting, across the board anyone i knew who brought that game described in in terms of disappointment .. basically struggling through the game having to force themselves to play.

destiny on the only hand .. people are loving it ... so are reviewers just jaded? or over hyped for it and thus ultimately disappointed?

I kinda despised Shadowfall, and I did take the time to Platinum 2 and 3, whatever that means

People that didn't like Titanfall or question how successful it was are like the crazy people that believe 9/11 was an inside job.

They're just going to ignore or spin it. Bungie and Activision already made bank so do they really care about what the reviews say about their game?

If the series starts out on the wrong foot with consumers, then they might start caring. Low review scores are something that publishers are concerned about, as evidenced by a tendency to reward developers with bonuses for achieving certain metascores. (IE the Fallout New Vegas fiasco) If players feel the first Destiny shortchanged them out of sixty dollars, that will likely impact sales of the expansion packs and sequels.

I think Bungie could make it up pretty easily by offering some solid free content and tweaking some of the lesser areas of the game, however.

Has Bungie commented on the reception yet?

There was one tweet expressing disappointment in the review scores today that was quickly deleted. Early in the week they put up a message pleading for fans to give early reviews no mind and just wait. Strange thing is the earliest Metacritic aggregated reviews were the most positive so far. Most of the important sites haven't weighed in, but their review diaries are trending toward not too positive.

I did feel the need to sell my copy before the market became flooded and drove the price down

He is imo, commenting on his/their own BS reviews.

Basically: Is Titanfall worth a 9/10 and Destiny 6/10.

Cause that is how they reviewed the games. No, TF is not a 9/10, no Destiny is not a 6/10. They are both solid 7's.
