Can you guys tell me if there's another hub-city than Prague in the game?
If not I think I will just stop playing here because I hate everything except the city exploration part.
I don't care about spoilers, the story is shit.
I'm at the same place and I wouldn't count that as a valid hub (I kinda hate it, and the plot, and the allegory contrivance that make no fucking sense within its own world and premise, it's so stupid and hamfisted).
I don't think you've been paying attention or looking it up if you think that way.
While the plot might not be "significant" in terms of overall universe (infact it might even be quite meager), it is not nonsense.
The new augs only don't seem cool if you never take them to try them out. I think they're fucking clutch. Sorry, but nothing does what remote hacking does. Nothing does what the tesla launcher does. Nothing does what the Icarus Dash does. Even the nano blade (trying now for the first time on my 'murder every person alive' second playthrough) is a very strong targetted instant kill or explosion. Much better than a grenade launcher or grenade.
Of course you don't NEED the new augs - it's Deus fucking Ex, you don't need any of the damn augs. They represent possibility in a sandbox. They do NOT do the same things as other augs.
I'll give you the rest but half of the things remote hacking does (except for things like opening and closing barriers/shutters) can be done using a silenced emp pistol.

Probably say something about why is there even a segregation and why are augmented people poor etc etc. Basically the stuff that both HR and MD answer anyway.
Or maybe it's the conspiracy, in which case I don't know what to say..this is Deus Ex after all.

I mean. That's the most important aspect of remote hacking though. It opens a LOT of paths up, just like any other 'path creating' ability like normal hacking, lungs, jumping, wall punching, etc. Remote hacking gives you a LOT of cool little bits with that sort of thing, and disabling bots and turrets is just a nice bonus (iut makes ghosting far easier than it would be otherwise). I think people who don't think remote hacking does much never had it when they were exploring. I can't count the number of times I was able to get into places in simple/fun ways because of opening shutters or extending an awning. It lets you disable cameras and stuff from OUTSIDE of line of sight, which is not replicated by emp anything. Very very good skill.
That's the same to me as saying that Tesla does the same thing as a tranq rifle, which couldn't be farther from the truth - the tranq rifle is fantastic at handling single enemies but is awful at dealing with crowds, the tesla lets you see the situation that is usually a stealth nightmare - like say 4 guys all in spread but with too much coverage to pick off more than 1-2 before they start blasting at you, and just take them all out at once non-lethally.
Just like every other ability in this game, you don't need any of these things, but they replicate other functionality BETTER, not the same or worse.

Dude what are you even talking about? It's fine not to like the game, but when you say shit like that it sounds like you've got some really weird vendetta. If you ahte it stop fucking playing man, jesus.
The only HUB hubs are prague north and south, new stuff will pop up every time you advance the plot though. Then there's like 5 or so non-hub but large 'mission' areas you'll go into (though these can have friendly npcs and all of that too, like golem city).
First one can be installed by going up the ladder and installing it while the camera is looking away..which I assume you already have.
For the 2nd one you have do go down the ladder, and go directly to the opposite side of the room from there and from here you can grab the ledge by high jumping or stacking up boxes. Which will get you to the area where you can install the remaining two.
It's funny you mention that because I've always said Witcher and Deus Ex are the same game in different settings.
Protagonists are Orphans modified against their will, which serves as a plot device so they skirt the line between human and non-human.
The only way to know they're modified is usually their eyes, (Geralt: Yellow Cat eyes. JC and Alex D: Purple nano-augment, Adam: his augmented sunglasses)
The games focus heavily on conspiracy and themes of racism and segregation.
They feature morally grey area decisions and the consequences of your actions are not immediately shown.
The new augs are mostly useless in that they do stuff that your other equipment already does. There's really no reason to explore because there's nothing exciting to spend your money on and nothing worthwhile in the upgrade tree after a certain point. This is the game's main failure imo.
The same could be said about the original Deus Ex. There was plenty of equipment that did the same as an aug. Ballistic protection, you had the Ballistic armour, breathe longer underwater aug, you had the rebreather equipment, reduce radiation, you had the hazmat suit. Guess people took those augs so it saved space and not having to rely on the equipment. There are still plenty of augs though that don't have an equipment alternative in both games
I don't feel that the new augs do stuff your equipment already does
no equipment can make you invulnerable, remote hack, stun 4 enemies at once, let you blink to far away locations or slow time.
the only augs that are simply weapons are the blades and the PEPS, but they are just so much fun to use.
Just starting to get into it over the weekend and so far liking it. Not to far in yet but its fun. What are the most important upgrades, especially in the beginning you feel? I try sneaking kills first but when that quickly fails I put lead to skulls kinda guy.
Is the social interaction upgrade or what ever it's called worth it? This one has me intrigued but can't really seem to get an answer from anyone if it's worth the praxis point especially early on.
I just did the Jensen's Story pre-order mission, and man, the game feels completely different when you're playing loud + lethal. Especially after finishing a ghost-ish playthrough.
If you KO someone but then they have an accident, like ragdolling over an edge, you'll kill them. Or that one time I KO'd a dude from cover and Jensen punched him halfway through the wall and he died. Oops.
So I had a small question about hacking. Considering each node right now has like a 65% rate of detection, level 3 and up becomes a tremendous pain to get through without hacking software. I know there are augments that help with hacking, so I wanted to ask which one would generally be recommended to focus on first, hacking stealth or fortify augments?
I use just the lowest upgrade of it, to make a real quick dash past an open sight-line hither or tither, but not to like get me across an entire open room or courtyard. I think it's pretty well balanced at the first level given how quickly it drains while moving. I have enough biocells at this point that I could pry constantly re-up but it starts to feel a bit too OP for me at that point.
I know we're supposed to talk about Invisible War like it doesn't exist, but I wish they'd taken after that game, where you had a cloaking mod that would make you invisible to people, but all bots/cameras/turrets had thermal detection. So you had to use a separate mod that thermally masked you from bots and cameras but still made you visible to organics. Can't remember if 1 had a similar system or not.
That would at least add some balance to situations in the game that contain a mix of cameras, turrets, and people, rather than the current "invisible to everything at once" aug.
I would agree Stealth is the more important but Fortify really opens up hacking to get datastores, simply because max Fortify delays the AI a huge amount. Only problem is it has no effect on the timer...

I'm 6 hours in and loving it so far, the game runs smoothly on my relatively modest rig - i5 4440, GT^X 960 4GM and 16GB DDR3 Ram.
I've done most of the things in the first mini hub and headed to Monument Station where I meandered off the mission trail when I found a door in the metro station and -
accidentally stumbled into the Casino and had a conversation with Otar to try and get the Calibrator. I won him over but refused to take his deal as I did like the idea of owing the mob a favour. I snuck around the area and managed to get into the room with the Calibrator, stunning 3 guys in the process, snagged it and high tailed it out of there.... have I screwed anything up in regard to future quest lines?
edit - answered about 5 posts up. Cheers Foxhound286. I might see if I have a save file from just before the conversation
Also, and I know this has been answered previously in the thread but I don't really have time to root through it again, if I apply the pre-order bonus weapons to my current character will they be available for my 'proper' completionist playthrough on the locked difficulty setting? As I'm going non-lethal this time around i was considering selling the revolver and combat rifle but obviously don't want to if doing so would mean I'd permanently lost them.
Why the hell do publishers and developers insist on creating their own shitty UIs for apps instead of using the respective platform's standard elements? Not only is it impossible to sign in to the Universe iOS app using a password manager, you actually can't even copy-paste the password. Great job, idiots. Oh, and logging in doesn't work anyway. "Connection error". And it clears both text fields so you have to retype everything again. Some people suspect that certain special characters in the password might cause issues. Unbelievable, if true. Can't even be arsed to change mine.
I won't even comment on the facts that they're using a serif font for the UI and a fucking power button to return to the menu.
