After an exhausting week at work i finally found time to play again extensively today. Plowed through act 2 and 3 on nightmare today.

Found a good one handed staff that gives me +2 for each skill and 1-189 lightning damage in addition to other advances. But not much else. I also crafted myself a nice amulet in the cube with a Ral rune / Amethyst / Amulet / Jewel.

After i struggled with the bosses on normal a bit this time on nightmare it is a bit easier. Mostly because i know what i'm doing. I haven't died to a single boss on nightmare yet.

What annoys me is that i want to upgrade my runes but i can't find chipped gems on nightmare.

First i was like: "When do i get the god gems?"
Now i'm like: "When do i get the bad gems?"

So basically i take the chipped gems from a newly created character and give it to the others or i play on normal difficulty.

This is the rune list, runes can be used for a lot of different recipes, the real value of runes or least where you can start trading them for decent items starts probaly at a pul rune. Its not uncommon to see people trading with Pul runes as a standard currency.

Ist runes are also a standard in terms of trade, as they have magic find on them, you regularly see people trading for x5 ist runes for a very good item.

The best 2 runes are a ber and a Jah, they are used in runewords like enigma, infinity etc, they are worth a lot.

find one of those and yer you're in the honey.

Most of the early runes are unfortuenly very cheap as they drop alot.

This is a very rough idea but you could probably trade these well sought after items for a pul rune +
Titans belt
Trangouls gloves
Gul dagger
goldwrap
magefists


More expensive items like
a shako- vex plus
arachnids mesh--- Vex +ist
tals armor----Vex +

also these prices fluctuate depending on the quality of the item as with things like Ed (enhanced defence ) etc getting perfect rolls on an item can make the item sky rocket.

no don't, there are many recipes that you can use for crafting, some low-level runes like amn and ral if i recall can be used to create powerful items like rings and amulets.


If your ever unsure if you should vendor something, things like runes for example, just make an alt and store them on the personal stash. Who knows, you might find a use for them in the future, and diablo is a game where you are always learning things.

Ok, thanks for the great advice and info. I haven't really gone into crafting yet (other than upgrading gems), but I suppose that's a key part of the game especially with higher difficulties.

You never sell runes, you just upgrade weak ones as you go so you slowly build up to nice ones. Same as with skulls and gems for the purpose of rerolling charms.

My favourite part of d2 is that even many junk are useful in some way.

Anyone got any good rune farms for playing solo online? Cow level has been a bust and lower kurast needs more people to be worth it. Sure the countess drops some, but you need thousands to work your way up from the low runes

None that I'm aware of, I just prefer going solo.

Mercs are important to many builds, if only because you can give them armour that offer auras. One specialized build uses upgraded Kelpie Snare for Ac2 Merc. Specifically because it slows bosses like Baal and Diablo into moving like a snail and easy to kill.

On the other hand, in the old days when you didn't want to kill the Cow King, there was a justification to keep the merc dead and use lighting attacks to farm cow levels (Cow king is lightning immune). This is obviously not relevent in Resurrected as there is no longer any down side to kiling the cow king.

Your character will return when the server problems are fixed but you may lose progress due to rollback.

This is why I switched to offline play. Tired of the rubber banding and server issues.

Beat Andariel on Nightmare with my Necro this weekend. Was almost easier that on Normal. Now knee deep in Act 2. The worm dungeon was a pain in the ass. So little room for my minions.

Can‘t believe how much more fun this is on higher difficuties. Only played normal in the good old days. Act 1 alone had me some nice legenday drops. What have I missed… Well, better late than never.

In the beginning it was brutal on nightmare until i got better gear. Definitely feels rewarding to get stronger and stronger. I just need to finish Baal and then i'll dive into hell difficulty but the last stretch of act 5 is giving me hard time. Some of the mobs are ridiculously strong.
