Should be instant/auto TP or something. The PS5 doesn't tell me the controllers charge (since its not directly connected to it) so no warning just a hard controller shut down.

So, I've played the OG Diablo 2 for hundreds of hours and haven't really paid attention to the details of this remake too much. Does it come with new/additional content or is it pretty much the same game, save for updated visuals and mechanics?
Or put differently, do I miss out on much if I want to scratch that Diablo 2 itch again and play the OG game over the remake? Playing singleplayer mostly.

It is mostly a visuals overhaul with som QOL improvements and minor changes such as ladder runes now appearing in single player.

You won't miss anything from a gameplay perspective but it does look really good.

Con-Z already answered most. Basically, you will eaither be in one of the two camps:

The visual upgrade makes you want to do it all over again.
or
I had my share of D2 enough for a lifetime, I'll wait for D4.

Theres some rumors of a possible Act 6 but I think they are going for the long haul here and if it does happen it wont any time soon. But if you do want to go once again, good thing is, your previous saved Battlenet character and items will all be there in the remaster. Its like you never left. And then you will realize 10 years passed again and now you are 45 years old.

Just logged on for the first time today after the server crash and encountered an interesting issue. My horadric cube is gone, just straight up disappeared....

I guess I have to go back to Act 2 and get it again?

Maybe a safety tip for you all out there, don't store anything useful in your cube!

Edit: I can confirm that the Halls of Dread chest drops the cube again if yours vanishes. Good to know!

Hell is no joke but I've made it to Act 2, slow and steady wins the race. One QoL change I hope they add is the ability to break down gems into lower tiers, haven't seen a chipped topaz in the last 30 hours of play .

A griffon's eye would probably be the gem in that build, but yer those are rare as hell.

An infinity makes the build godly.

Other items, arachnids mesh, war travelers boot, a good raven frost.

i used to have a level 93 character back on the day with all that, 8 player cows were so much fun

In my opinion you'll miss out on A LOT. I could never go back to those graphics and 25 fps. I thought that it would get boring after the graphics sheen wore off. Nope. I'm as addicted again as I was as a kid.

So i want a shield with 4 sockets for the runeword spirit but i can't find one. Now i farm the cow level to get a shield (i think it must be white) that i can get socketed from Larzuk.

But how do i know with how many sockets it will end up? Is there a way to determine this?

The socket quest would always give you the max possible socket for the white item, but that is affected by the map level of the item that it was dropped at. The item level is not visible in-game, you would need third party software to see it. So you just had to remember where you farmed the item.

The break point is item level 1-25, 26-40, and 41+.
Here is the link to the full item chart and how many max sockets it could have in each item level bracket.

Cow Level norm 28/nm 64/hell 81
So that is why Normal Cow Level get most of the 4 socket items. It easily fits into 26-40 range for drops. Just remember that some shields physically can't have 4 sockets at all. Just double check the chart in the link.

As if the server problems aren’t bad enough, there’s also a bug which prevents me from changing the automap settings, like setting it to full screen for example. It works as long as I don’t exit the game, but if I exit, the map is not showing at all the next time I start the game. I then have to set it to default, restart the game, and then set it back to how I want it. I have to repeat this procedure every single time.

I was gonna report it, but Blizzard’s bug report service is a fucking joke as well, so I didn’t bother.

What the fuck is going on over at Blizzard right now? Have they outsourced everything to China or something? What have I missed? I thought they were one of the best and biggest in the business?

Larzuk would always give you the maximum possible socket per item level, yes.

The alternative is using the socketing cube recipe, which rolls a die of 1-6 and give you that number of sockets up to the maximum for the item. This means if the item can only have 4 sockets by its type and item level, the socket quest would have 1/6th chance each of 1 socket, 2 sockets or 3 sockets, but 3/6 chance of rolling a 4 sockets item.

Doing the cube recipe means you would get a lot of bad rolls. But can be considered if the white item can be easily obtained and you want to save the socket quest for something else like a Unique or Rare.

Dropped for me off Hell Meph too on Sunday. Whats this worth currently approx? I'm just using a blizz sorc atm like everyone else, so its not particularly useful to me right now compared to something like Shako or War Travs.

The socketing recipe is for white or ethereal items. You need to consume a Stone of Jordan to add a socket to a rare item without the quest. And you CAN'T add a socket to a Unique except via the quest.

In the long run you are going to have a lot of extra characters and thus a lot of spare quests to socket things. In the short run you had to consider how you would spend the quest most productively.
