Diablo 3 Beta [Beta withdrawal underway!]

Got the Book of Cain for Christmas. It's made really well. The pages look worn and tattered, gives it a cool effect. Haven't had time to really read much of it yet.

It's probably been mentioned, though I haven't read the entire thread, but has there been any indication on whether beta acheivements (once they're reactivated) will transfer over to your profile on the final release? Because that would be pretty cool.

As far as I have read, nothing from the beta will be retained when the game goes retail. But getting the achievements over again will be just as fun!

I think it will pretty much work like the previous Blizzard beta's have. You'll lose your character and all it's achievements. Maybe you'll get a fancy account tied beta tester banner or something but nothing impactful.
I think it's time I started letting it be known around these parts.... pssst;
"I'm looking for a key".

Didn't get the Book of Cain for Christmas :( God damn it.

Another pet! Gotcha catch em all for the incoming Pokemon MMO in WoW.

But i guess its gonna be a Feature in the Diablo website with interviews, pictures and cool things.

15th Anniversary Editions of Diablo 1 and 2 with official widescreen/higher resolution support would be nice.

Like I need another copy of Diablo 2.
I would buy it of course
.

Have there been any announcements regarding Collectors Edition for D3? I suppose that will be held off until there is an actual official release date.

Found this on twitter and i lol'd

Hardcore PVP - Final Death?

Official Blizzard Quote:
[Blizzard Source]
Simply we still have no definitive version of how the characters will be handled Hardcore PvP.
We have in mind the interest that some players, as you are showing, they have towards the Hardcore mode.

During BlizzCon Jay Wilson had said that we are considering various hypotheses, including a small arena for 1v1 and so on. Our aim is obviously to offer you the means to satisfy the desire of players interested in adrenaline mode.
How, we have not definitively decided.

Currently we have no plan to permanently kill the PCs in the arenas for teams, but only in PvE (intended to be: only in areas of the game dedicated to PvE, if a character is killed while on a stroll of course counts the same as final death).

I will keep you updated.

Isn't not dying in hardcore pvp a contradiction?

I honestly can't see how an arena could work with the final death activated.
Each character would have an average life expectancy of 1 match likely, given the ease with which a character might die if the opposing team focus on it.
I understand the adrenaline, but it would be counterproductive for the fun.

That said, we have not yet taken a final decision, our intention is to put some PvP mode that allows the final death, be it by duel, by 1v1 arena, or something we have not yet thought of.

We are evaluating the pros and cons of various options

Ive never really gotten into Diablo, but recently i have been watching a lot of videos and it looks great.

One thing i do remember, i did play Diablo 1 on Battle.net and two guys came in and killed me and took all my gear - can this happen again in Diablo III or can i just play through it one player or with "friends" only and not have people come in and invade like Dark/Demon souls?

Amazon.com had the pre-order for the Collectors Edition of Diablo III back around October. It was listed for $100.00 USD I ordered it then but it is no longer listed except that it isn't available yet.

I think its a friends only thing. Not everyone is hardcore enough to play Diablo knowing they could die and have all their items looted. Not since UO has a game ventured towards that style of play. With the D3 focus clearly on PvE, I don't see Blizzard letting people kill and loot other players.

what game are you referencing?

I was asking about Diablo 3 and like if you can get "invaded" as such like in Dark Souls - or can i set it up so i can only play multiplayer with friends

You can't be invaded.

You can set your game to -> Public -> Private (Friend list) -> Invite only.

Thanks mate. My first experience (and only) with Diablo was a bunch of high level dicks killing me in seconds and ruining the entire experience for me. Looks like ill pick this up when it comes out as it looks excellent and im loving torchlight.

Ultima Online. PvP with corpse looting. Hardcore of the hardcore. Blizzard just ain't got the balls to attempt something that harsh in Diablo 3.

I think that approximately 16 player in the world would enjoy that.
Or 15.

They are too busy corpse ganking others in current MMO's though.

Yeah... I think even less, actually. It's a dumb idea that wouldn't work in Diablo 3.

Hey, guess what IS a good idea...

Releasing the game :I

Dear blizz ceos/people in charge - you can perfect your nickle and dime system when the game is out. Until then, just release it. Like you did with sc2 and your grand hopes of having somekind of mod market you could rake in your cut from.

Also at this rate, I'll be having my grandchildren telling me the plot of D3 exp no 3 on my death bed, a cool 20 years after divorcing my future wife over the delays of exp no 2.
