I feel the complete opposite. I wasn't a fan of anything art-related in Diablo 2; the locales had such a bright palette compared to the original and the monster design was not as grim or demonic. It was completely lacking the dark, imposing feel of the original. I played the game to death, but the art direction left me wanting.Mengy said:While I will be buying this game day one and playing the everlasting hell out of it, literally, I have to agree with the art style critics. It definately has a WoW feel to it, and I vastly prefer the art and graphical style of Diablo II. VASTLY. However, it's not enough to stop me from putting a couple hundred hours into it, because in the end it is still Diablo III, and I have no doubt that it will play utterly fantastic. The graphics will take a huge back seat to the gameplay, and after some time it just won't matter.
But there is no denying it, the look is different than DII.
If I have a criticism of D3, it's that it absolutely blows being limited to 2 or 3 skills early on. Once you have 4 skill slots (level 12), you can really start synergizing. Thankfully, it shouldn't take more than a few hours to get well past 12, but I wonder if 6 will be enough for the end game. On many occasions I wished I could quickly switch between skill setups to adapt to different situations (i.e. to kill stuff better), and as far as I know we're not able to do that, at least not yet. Also, it seems as though the game throws far less monsters at you at once, even in a full game.
So after having leveled up 3 characters and my crafter to well beyond what is necessary to pimp out a level 13 character, I'm done with the game. There's really only so much you can do before it gets really tiresome. I had a lot of fun with the classes I played (Monk, Demon Hunter, Barbarian) and can't wait for the full game to come out. Wish it was a 2011 release, but eh, it is what it is. Maybe they'll add beta content down the road. I really can't imagine someone enjoying the beta as it is now for more than 2 weeks of hardcore play sessions.
