Diablo 3 Beta [Beta withdrawal underway!]

Got in!

Played about an hour or so, up to level 7. Game is excellent. The skills and such have really great effects and you can play in so many different ways.

Graphics aren't the best, but they're not ugly.
 
Started with a monk.
I have to say what makes this so much more satisfying than D2 is they really nailed down the feeling of your attacks carrying weight behind them. You really do feel that of a hero, gifted in the art of pulverizing your foes. The sounds are great as well, combined with the way the environments destruct, I really like it so far. There are many things to me that make a great game, and this has those little attentions to detail that no doubt will bring a smile to your face.
I hope everyone will get to play soon.
 
OMG I can't believe that I'm not in yet! I've played Diablo for thousands of hours over the years... Applied to the beta the second that it was announced and I've been following every blog about it. Life is unfair :(

You didnt read my post once again. I havent said that based only on beta, but also Blizzard interviews and testers opinions!
And about Blood Raven, i said: "not 1-10 levels of course".

Yep, i told You to play HC, because it shows that its not easy. Easy is Normal Difficulty in Mass Effect 2, when You almost cant die and dont need to be careful. In D2 You had to be careful, sometimes even extremely careful, especially when You were playing with completely clean char. Thats obvious that with overpowered gear normal is a joke [even nightmare is a joke with proper gear in d2], where mobs dont even hit You and You one shot them, but i wasnt talking about that.

BTW, i have to take back everything i said about beta not being 'so casual'. One medicore weapon + orb completely changed the game into the 'speedrun-fest', where i one/two hit everything ;\
 
KKRT00, you're not reading at all. I recommend you going back to your previous posts and read the comparisons you made.
 
is there a download mirror or ports I can open for this download to speed up? I am stuck at 130 kbps and I usually average around 2Mbps!
 
Is the beta supposed to be 14 gigs? I heard its much smaller but it won't let me download/install it (I got the downloader from battle.net) unless I make room for it.

Not that I've tried, but you should simply be able to download the client for both PC and Mac without issues. This is how it works for all Blizzard games. Obviously you won't be able to play on both at the same time because it's restricted to one account.

I don't know. I haven't tried it on my Macbook Pro yet. Runs well on my desktop, though.

Edit: Actually, it doesn't run well at all. It runs smooth as butter with sound disabled, but with sound enabled it basically hangs for a second or 2 each time a new asset (sound) is played. This seems to be a fairly common issue judging by the Blizz tech support forums. My PC is more than capable of running this game.

Oh, maybe that's why I'm not in, I guess I better update my specs now I have a bigger hard drive and more space.
 
Hmm, just decided to start playing and am getting frequent disconnects which immediately kick you out of the game to the login screen. Guess they're quite serious about this always connected deal.

On a side note, I am quite glad I took the authenticator off my account, otherwise I'd be going nuts typing in the code each time.

fuck i feel ripped off and content that i didn't get in sooner if this is it.
 
The difference between best and worst stats on those is way too small. On those weapons its like 4 dps difference on a 400+ dps weapon. In d2 the random range was a lot bigger.

And? This is not d2. There is no need for that amount of range in this game, imho. It is a choice, and they made it this way :P

I wouldnt worry about that, because we will have for sure +50-150% enhanced damage modifier :p
 
I really liked the game so far.

The atmosphere remembers a lot Diablo 1, which imo, is better than Diablo 2 on that.

Very nice too that they are explaining some stuff from characters of the 1st game like Lachdanan and Adria.
 
There is now a hidden box just above the annual pass or community box on the account page that says:
Diablo 3
Pre-download not yet available

It might have been there forever or they might have update it yesterday while the account page was down (eu).

It's a closed, public beta test. What the fuck are you ranting about?
 
I was able to play and get my Wizard to level 8 before the servers burned up last night. But from the 90 minutes I played this is everything I could have ever hoped Diablo 3 would be. I cannot freaking wait for the full game and hopefully the servers will be more stable tonight.
 
I received my beta invitation yesterday but I will be without any internet at my apartment until next week!

Diablo III runs on my work computer but I wasn't able to max any of the settings. I made it to level 3 before I went home last night.
