I log into battle.net constantly, have D3 news apps on my phone and iPad, and check up on videos and screenies weekly, sign up for the beta with 4 accounts (all different test computers, including one at an internship I had last summer), have all my friends sign up too, have ten copies of D3 + expansion on each account..... Nothing.

Boyfriend gets an invite today and I'm about to break into his blizzard account and change his password. :P

Add me to the google docs battletag as well please :)

Played for a good hour or so this evening. Reminder of how much I love loot games and the constant thrill of new drops and getting stronger. Was mentioned earlier, I love how meaty the combat feels as well. I'm just playing a Barbarian, but everything feels like it has weight, the sound effects are very full and each impact just sounds so visceral.

Thanks for adding me to the list MrMister. Will send requests after work.

Yeah no problem! Anyone feel free to send a request my way and I'll help you get acquainted to the beta (when I'm online), I've played for at least 100 hours by now to the point where I know the general pattern of dungeon generation!

A few tips to the new guys:
  • Holding down Crtl while hovering over a skill will give you the advanced tooltips for that skill, that displays more detailed information as well as damage percentage.
  • Pressing G will drop your banner on that spot, it's a cool feature just for being implemented. To customize yours, just click it behind your current character on the menu screen to customize it. Good for taunting or waiting for a dialog section to end.
  • Speaking of dialog, other than pressing the red X to skip dialog, you can skip an entire scene by hitting ESC. Doing this during a cutscene in Co-op will trigger a prompt for confirmation, as it ends the cutscene for everyone.
  • Rares are very tricky to get in beta, depending on how you go about getting them. The best way, but most tedious, is to start a new character for each time you battle SK, this guaruntees you at least 1-3 rares to drop, I recommend doing this after you've at least maxed one of your characters to level 13.
  • The party system is a little funky in Diablo III. You always follow the leader no matter what you're doing, if the leader is in a game you will be in the same game as him, if he is on the main menu you will be in the main menu, etc. If you leave the game your party leader is in, you leave the party. The party leader on the other hand has an extra option on his ESC menu which allows you to leave the game with the party in-tact called "Leave with Party". Just FYI.
  • All item drops in the game are yours only, no one else will see the loot you get unless you pick up the item and then drop it. You can link items in chat, just like in WoW, by having chat open, and then shift-clicking an item.
  • Finally, remember that switching a skill will prompt a 30-second cooldown that does not allow you to use the skill, or swap it out for another for 30 full seconds. Also to note, any skills with a cooldown and have been used cannot be swapped while on cooldown.

Hope you guys enjoy!

I am in, played a bit and then it crashed and I stopped. One thing i noticed so far is that the levels are very confined. Not like stony fields which is a massive open box, this is like passages. Then again I am only level 5.

One thing I do like is the random lore and achievement things you find. I love me some collecting (Best part of wow)

That's quite surprising. I hope they open up later on. While I didn't really get "into" any of the Diablo games, I have enjoyed the likes of Dungeon Siege 1 and 2 which gave you some sense of freedom, and exploring was fun. I just don't understand why they went with the forced corridor path design in Dungeon Siege 3 -- it could have been good, if it had some form of open world exploration and incentives to explore.

Added everyone in the google doc..

Got an error for Jingo#1509, lain#2907, Youngling#1523, Gromph#1483, alba#1338. As was explained I believe it's just because they haven't logged in since the latest update.

Just got invited and completed the download, I haven't played any Diablo since I retired my necro from D2 years ago.

I'm not sure what to expect, but hopefully it's interesting.

i got in the beta and i dont even remember signing up...
but anyway, i played a bit with a friend and it was tremendously laggy... to the point where i thought it was my pc but he was having the same issues and changing graphics settings did not make it get any better. also, overall the graphics are pretty dissapointing (ive been playing dota 2, and this just feels like a step down). is the game p2p or hosted on dedicated servers?

i am kinda dissapointedso far, but it seems like there could be a really fun game in here. i'm just worried that the lag will be a continuing issue one release...

also, i know they are trying to stick to old school mechanics but like a 10-30 degree swivel ability in the camera would be nice when there are little rats hiding behind a piece of the landscape

I hope the achievements don't get wiped with updates? Cool to see they're implemented for the beta. Going to try to get them all!

They're wiped whenever they do a minor patch, so don't expect those to last as long. Be like me, change your banner to what you want before the next patch, I have the overachiever sigil on mine and if I switch it at all I have to get all the achievements again to get it back.

Is the server down? The login button is greyed out for me o.o

edit: nevermind was trying to login with the battletag lol

Just got my beta invite. Loaded up the game "Awwww yeah. Here we go!" Everything was looking good. "Oh snap, a zombie! Gonna go fuck that bitch up." I go up to it, click it.

"The fuck??...." Every time I fight enemies, depending on how many mobs are on screen, my game stutters DRAMATICALLY. (1-5 enemies is not TOO bad, but it will stutter very, very noticeably especially if a move I'm using has some kind of "effect" IE: Monk's thunder punch) It's as if the game is streaming or something and it stops to buffer, rendering the game virtually unplayable. I would barely even consider it a frame-rate drop when I'm fighting a field or dungeon full of zombies. It's more like an inconsistent, mentally retarded slideshow.

I tried lowering the graphics settings, turning off D3D Overrider, turning off hyper-threading, running in windowed mode....etc. No noticeable improvement whatsoever. Is there maybe a certain nvidia driver that is needed to run this well or something? Does anyone else have this issue?

I went ahead and made a Google Docs spreadsheet to list all of our Battletags, please post yours so I can add it to the list!

>>>List of NeoGAF Battletags!<<<

This document is especially important since they wipe friends lists as well during the beta.

Thanks for adding me to the list MrMister, it was also incredibly great playing with you and ZealousD earlier today. I really enjoyed the game and I'm surprised at how quality the game is for being in the beta stages. I have experienced far less bugs then I did in my first day of Cataclysm's beta.

EDIT: And for people's information I ran completely fine with no noticeable problems on this rig:

AMD Phenom II B60 X4 @ 3.3Ghz
8GB DDR3 RAM
ATI Radeon HD 6770
Windows 7 x64

mine would hitch every now and then like it was loading stuff.

there was one room on the way to the skeleton king that was pretty bad tho. there was some treasure chest in the middle of the room and when i clicked on it a TON of skeletons came out and the game started pausing. like it would actually pause/freeze for a couple seconds and then keep going ...but it'd eventually lag for another 2 or 3 seconds as i continued to try and kill all the skelies. there was some things in there that kept spawning the skelies, so there was quite a few of them ...but ya, it was hitching pretty bad in there. i thought the thing was gonna crash, but it didn't.

completed the demo/beta with the Demon Hunter. she's pretty decent. gonna try some others tomorrow.

oh, btw, i'm using an i5 760 @ 3.8ghz and 8gig ram ...gtx560 in sli. when it was hitching bad that time with the skeletons, it felt like the old days when ya didn't have enough ram to run something properly ...heh.

i had no problems and im on a 2.8 quad core with 4gb ram and a 550.. you guys easily outclass me in specs so that's unfortunately weird. granted I've only played up until lvl 3 using a sorc, but no noticeable lockups or crazyness. settings maxed vsync off.

Almost everyone, just some dont notice. Turn v-sync on ingame, it will help a little.

Just got the invite...wish I could give it to someone else. Not because I don't want to play D3, because I really do, but I got a Dota 2 invite too and I'll be pretty busy for the next few weeks anyway. Oh well, battletag is tuxor #1554, but I haven't installed yet so give it a few hours.

Try turning down the sound channels from 128 to 64.

I also got an invite, wow. I didn't think I would. Played a bit and boy, how I can't fucking wait for more Diablo...

The stuttering has been an issue for me as well, however. Overall really enjoying what I've played.

using the Demon Hunter and the last two times i tried to make good use of the Rapid Fire skill, the game gets all screwed up ...ie, can't click on anything, can't do shit.

i see others have the problem, too ...

You too!? I thought the game was just being wonky so I turned it off and went back in. I was able to get outside of the Cellar of the Damned and the game wouldn't load the rest of the map for me so I just exited out.

Stuttering left for me when I finished downloading everything. Maybe your's will get better if you haven't downloaded and updated all the files.

My game also stuttered, but that's when I played when it was 'Playable' and not 'Optimal'. Everything disappeared as soon as the game was finished updating.

The beta is so awesome, too bad it's rather short. :( I need a release date, damnit.

Not really worth it for gaming in general, it's just that the past few versions of the Beta seem to continually stream assets from the HDD even if they're already loaded, and it causes some bad stuttering even on high end rigs, and playing with an SSD would greatly decrease the effects of that issue/bug. I'm sure it'll be fixed before release.

When I get home today I'll be installing the game to my Patriot Wildfire 120GB SSD and I'll report back. I have played once over a friends house that had it installed on a WD Black drive and I didn't see any stuttering there though.

Played for a few hours last night, started with the wizard. Spent a lot of time looking at scenery, walking around, talking to everyone, glossing over the interface. Got up to level 7, just rescued Cain and cleared the Decrepit Crypts.

So far the game is incredibly awesome. Exactly what I expected, it feels like the next Diablo game. Graphics are great, although the criticisms over the past year about being "too WoW ish" did pop into my mind a few times. I'm not saying it's bad in any way, but it is a different look and feel compared to the hard grittiness of Diablo II that so many of us loved. There's just no doubt about it, the art direction is more WoW oriented than Diablo II oriented.

Fortunately, it's not a big deal at all, because the game looks awesome and the animations are great. But more than that, the gameplay is superb. Many more little touches to add ambiance to the game. And even on normal in Act I, I've seen some great monster variety. I never came close to dying yet, but the promise of things to come is outstanding. I can't wait to get to hell and inferno difficulty in this game, it should be glorious if my experience so far is any indication. And I've only played a few hours so far, hell I haven't even beaten the Skeleton King yet!

I'm playing Diablo III all night tonight, I even warned my girlfriend about it ahead of time. After I beat the beta I'm gonna hop on and try out multiplayer, then take a look at the auction house. Then gradually level one of each other class to the max level just to see which one I like the best. So promising, on one hand I'm glad I'm in the beta. On the other hand, knowing how good it is and that I'm capped at Act 1 of normal, it will make the wait to release just that damn much harder...

yeah my game stuttered a fucking ton (im talking like in the old days when you installed a game that totally couldn't run on your pc specs), this is on my i5 2500k, 8 gigs of ram, and a 570 .... however that was when it was still downloading assets, I just let it sit till it fully downloaded everything and it seemed 95% improved although I would get the odd hitch here and there, its like its streaming in everything.... I have 8 gigs of ram blizzard, USE IT!.

also why do I have to reclick after x amount of seconds, I just want to left click, BASH BASH BASH, but it seems like you have to reclick halfway through a fight because your guy will just start running around the the enemies and stop attacking.

graphically it looks fine, its a wowified Diablo to me, path of exile looks more like a 3d old style diablo, but in a way Path of Exile looks kinda boring, so the slight cartoony/painting slant of diablo 3 artstyle, while a departure from the first 2, may not be so bad, the music to me is kind of bland, seems like someone imitating Matt Uelman from what I've heard, but just feels a bit flat, alot of the sound effects (bow twangs etc) seem to be lifted right out of Diablo 2, which is nice, currently level 6 barb, im at work so Ill post my tag later.

Got mine, but have to have my Authenticator removed because the last time I had it, I only needed my Serial number, now it requires a restore code. Bleh... I hope they have fast turnaround time

Ohhhh I wondered about that, all the drops I got off SK kinda sucked after the first gold item I got. So I guess now I've levelled a character to 13 I should start a new one?

After that post, this morning, started it up and the game is running quite well now. Must have been that. Thanks!

Also, here's my battletag - add me right up on that shite:
