6:30am: Check email - OMG Beta INVITE!! I never get invited to Blizzard beta tests. Holy shit..holy shit... holy shit. Its like Christmas morning when I was 8 years old.

6:35am: Begin downloading Client

8:10am: Client finished. All systems go.. hit the launcher button, click on the box to input my login..uh hmmm.. nothing is happening. No cursor prompt. Click on the password box..nothing, no cursor prompt. Closed out the launcher, restarted it, same problem. Re-booted computer - same problem. Tried tabbing to get a prompt so I can log-in..nothing.

Check the forums.. see one other person has reported this issue, no response. I can't post on the forums yet either because I have no active WoW subscription and I haven't created a character for D3 yet.

This is like the biggest cock tease I've ever had.

This may be a stupid question, but did you try typing anything? I don't have any cursor prompt but the letters come up when I type and I can log in fine.

Apparently it wasn't a stupid question. Because that works. I can't type my log/pw in the boxes but there is no cursor

Yeah no problem! Anyone feel free to send a request my way and I'll help you get acquainted to the beta (when I'm online), I've played for at least 100 hours by now to the point where I know the general pattern of dungeon generation!

Thanks man :D
But I know everything too. Am in beta since patch 5.

Can help with anything I know too.

Anyone else have more luck with their flagged accounts that hadn't been activated yet?

I'm grit tin my teeth here waiting for this thing to activate.

So, I started to play this morning. But I'm having some choppieness. If I'm just moving around its fine. But if I level up, bunch of enemies spawn, AOE spells, the game will freeze up for a few secs, making it choppy.

Also, using anti-aliasing on in the game, it still looks jaggy. Makeing the image is more blurred, but it didn't smooth out edges. At least not for me. Forcing them in the CCC doesn't do anything either.

No not yet. I'm EU-based though. Don't know how much are going to activate and if EU get's in later than US. Maybe I'm part of the next wave.

*logs in again on Bnet*

I lowered the channels to 64 and after stuttering for 2 minutes or so it ends up getting smooth, so looks like that crisis was averted.

Here's my BattleTag: Vertigo1#1570

Just got into the beta this morning.

My battletag is thetrin#1629.

Just got a good hour or so into it.

That is some Diablo-ass Diablo right there.
Unfortunately it's the same Diablo I didn't really get that much into back in the day.

Guys. Guys. Diablo 3 is fun.

Is it? I played maybe 30 minutes last night. It does not feel like a Diablo game at all. When you level up stat points are automatically awarded.....what? The skill "tree" seems like it will be fun. The graphics, while not the art style I would like, would be fine if they upped the texture resolution. Everything in the game looks soft and blurry. There's no detail. It's like a water painting. I started out as a wizard and the character models are just bad. Again, there just isn't any detail on these guys. His model looks like a potato with two cylinders for arms and two for legs.

I realize the difficulty is on very easy and maybe this is why it's not that fun? You run into a bunch of guys, spam the left click, who cares if you get hit, a multitude of health potions drop out of nowhere! I never even had to use my real health potions. I hope there is a way to turn off the "dropped" potions. It doesn't seem to add anything other than to let you coast through the game. Also what's with the UI? The map and objectives all over the screen it looks bad. I hope you can remove everything from the hud except the bottom. And you have these ugly arrows on the left where you can scroll past text? Who cares?

I will keep playing and I pray that it gets better. I remember the Diablo 2 beta grabbed me immediately and I was having a blast. This just seems like some strange action game, but not Diablo. I have the D3 collector's edition preordered and I never thought I'd say this but I'm having my doubts as to whether or not Diablo 3 will be a good game.

I don't know how you can honestly doubt how it could be a good game, I've played pretty much every ARPG and I enjoyed the beta of Diablo 3 more than Titan Quest or Torchlight though Torchlight has a great feel as well but I have no doubt in my mind that Diablo 3 will be a great game.

They will eat You here :)

I, personally, like most gameplay changes, i like skills responsiveness a lot, i like new 'mana' supplies for characters that force You to combine 'mana' generating skills with ones that deplete it, i like that You dont have to stack up tons of potions, even though Flask solution from Path of Exile is much deeper, better and more diverse and more predictable solution.
I dont really that care about not distributing character points manually, because You can change that with gear, it wasnt that meaningful in D2 anyway [Path of Exile again does it better, but they were reworking that like 4 times ;p], but lack of Traits really hurts and that we can distribute points for skills manually and just full respec like in D2 or system like in Titan Quest.

I should have said a "great Diablo game." The gameplay feels pretty standard so far, akin to games like Titan Quest or Torchlight. It just doesn't have that "something." I can't put my finger on it. Then again, I'm only 30 minutes in so like I said I'll keep playing and we'll see how it goes.

Got into the beta last night, played for about an hour before going to bed. It's amazing how familiar it feels. It is to diablo 2 what starcraft 2 is to starcraft 1. I expected more change but now that ive played it im glad it stuck to its roots. It felt so, so nice.

It clicked with me right away so hopefully if it does for you as well, I don't know if it will though I do agree it is easy, I am not worried about that for the full game.

Diablo games are about how good it feels to kill stuff and Diablo 3 is no exception. I love my arcane galaxy of death. All other games - path of exile, titan quest, torchlight do not feel as good.

How good health globes are for gameplay will be more apparent as the game becomes more difficult. I remember watching a video of blizzard playing at higher difficulties (but I cant find it : ( ). And the damage is so high that managing health globes was incredibly important. Health globes require you to constantly kill mobs to replenish your hp - making it a lot more intense since if you need hp, you're already on the back foot. I think this engages the player more since theres movement and killing involved compared to spamming the pot key.

I don't like the kinda... wow look to the UI though. Mainly the chatbox.

I check in on this thread from time to time, nothing crazy. I'm not obsessive about Diablo 3. I really, really want ti to be released, but I gave up following on every update years ago. I just checked my battle.net account, and apparently I'm in the Beta. No idea how long I have been eligible. I only checked thanks to this thread.

So, thanks guys! I'm DLing now and will add my info later for NeoGaf grouping.

Now that I'm playing the Diablo 3 beta, I really want to play Torchlight 2 to see how things compare. What I love about D3 so far is just the online aspect, all the stats and comparing and all that great stuff. It might not seem like a big deal, but it just makes it all the more social.

This is very well done in the game. I like the ui for that feature, it's nice and big so you don't have to squint to see the numbers.

So, do you guys think the release is much closer, since they are sending out so many invites? I really hope so.

Believe:

Well - it points towards a real stress test for their back end stuff.
This normally happens rather late in a beta cycle so this could indeed be a sign of them finishing up.

On the other hand the AH isn't fleshed out at all - you cannot even sort the result or search for specific attributes. But of course we have no idea how far their intern build of the ah has progessed...

...oh and they should fix the 2-3 duping methods before release...

Yeah, was very easy to use and navigate, and great to see so much data. It's stuff like that that helps build longevity and that ease of use with playing with friends.

I was going to edit above and say I didn't even get an email notification since I just checked my email yesterday afternoon. I thought about it and decided to check my email just now before posting that information, and I found that there was indeed an email notification sent 2/1/11. It was just a weird coincidence that all this happened just now after I looked at this thread and decided to check Battle.net on a whim.

I agree, it really feels like they are still sorting out a bunch of stuff with it (or just giving us, as you said, an old version).

Just got in again with my second bnet account (my sc2 smurf).

At this point, I don't even want to play the beta anymore, I just want the full game.

I got that too, and its a bit misleading.

You need to enter your battle.net email address and password as the login username. If you just enter a username it won't let you click log in

Barbarians. Dual wield. Godlike. That is all. Man. I want more of this game. More now! More! Hurry up Blizzard. What else is there ya gotta do?
