I figured "undercore" to be ... well, the opposite of hardcore. And yet, "knowing what 1CC means" is on the list.

Wait, why am I actually thinking this through.

That's the first step to becoming undercore yourself.

Once you realize you are confused like Yoshi, then you become undercore and join us secret brothers of GAF.

Print out a high quality picture of Jay?

DONE!

Operation "Shattered Heart"... commencing!

Gromph, how in the living hells?! You have an animated avatar right now! HOW?!

I have GAF Gold already, am I required to be part of GAF platinum :_:?!

Is that animation suppose to be a prequel to the game? Looks pretty cool. Diablo anime series? Yes, please!

I think that would be rather cool.

Oh now this is some BUUUUUULL shit right here. Cock tease with that awesome monk animated avatar, then he uses it for himself?

*knocks over a magazine rack*

I realize it's early to ask, but do you have any recommendations for a DH's build?

This isn't like Diablo 2 so you don't have to worry about gimping yourself with a build that may or may not be late game viable. Just play however you want and then you can tailor your build based on items you find or decide on something you think works then get gear to tailor to the build.

I am going to try whatever the hell I feel like and see if I can make it work and think it is a beautiful thing that I don't have any inclination to search online for a "good" build before I start playing. Heck, I will probably end up trying out every single skill/passive/rune the level I unlock it to see if it feels good because I don't want to miss anything. It doesn't matter until Nephalem Valor kicks in at lvl 60 anyway. :)

Experiment, experiment, experiment!

Havent really thought this out, but does anybody know how damage for skills like "way of the hundred fists" work? Im guessing the fast strikes dont do full damage, but does each hit have a chance of critical hit equal to that of a regular hit? I want to build my monk as close to a speedy ass pally zealer as possible!

Until today Diablo wasn't on my radar because #1. I have never played the previous games and #2. I thought it was PC only.

Well, I have come to discover it IS on Mac I have decided to look into this game for the first time.
I watched a couple videos of it a moment ago and the art style really looks great. So whats this game all about? Is it a single player loot style game? Is there any form of multiplayer/co-op or strictly single player? It is an RPG or just an open world sand-box?

140% weapon damage is the default damage. Not sure how Crit damage is is calculated above normal attacks. Check out the Monk Calc for the Runes and what they change.

Single player RPG Action loot game but with a strong focus on co-op for 4 players. Playing on the Normal difficulty and finishing unlocks the next difficulty, which adds new rewards and challenges. Semi open world with dungeons spread around, either random places to loot or quest objective areas.

It's a 4 player, action RPG with randomly generated loot and dungeons.

1. Kicking ass, killing demons, and looting everything.
2. It is a loot game.
3. Diablo is the quintessential coop game, but can be played solo just as easy as you can coop.
4. RPG-ish. There are no stat points on level-up or skill trees, but you can customize character by selecting your skills (active & passives), their runes (skill modifications), and lots and lots of gear customization.

Is it like WOW?

Sounds like my kind of game. I cant believe I never played the first 2. I'm assuming the beta is closed now?

Click Monster, make it die, collect loot, repeat until whore.

Simple idea but full of deeper mechanics that will take years to fully master. Add to that the co-op and higher difficulty and you could be playing for years to some. :D

Dungeons are a little like WoW in that they are designed with different encounters as you progress, maybe some mini-bosses and then a main boss that drops loot. Once cleared, you can jump back in and start that dungeon.

Right, but does that mean each of the 7 quick hits are 140 percent damage (and the first and last slower ones as well)?
Not sure how Crit damage is is calculated above normal attacks. Check out the Monk Calc for the Runes and what they change.
Runes aside, you're hitting them 7 times with 1 click on the second attack (There are 3 click attacks in the entire combo skill). I'm wondering if each of those 7 attacks has as equal a chance of getting a critical hit as a normal attack.

Can you install one D3 DVD to 2 different computers?

I am thinking of installing it to both my desktop and laptop. Is this possible with one DVD and one key?

Bound to your Battle.net account. So you could install to as many as you like but still only connect with your main account.

You buy the game for your battle.net account, not a given computer or a given set of computers. You can install D3 on any number of computers and play it with your single battle.net account.

I would search out a let's play Diablo 3 beta on Youtube and sort by date uploaded so you are watching the most recent patches. There will be videos linked in the first post of the OT to all the lore videos you will need to get caught up on the happenings of Diablo 1 and 2.

I am not really good at expressing what it is about Diablo that makes me love it so much in words so I will just use some bullet points.

*Excellent single or multiplayer experience with difficulty and number of monsters changing depending on number of players (up to 4)
*Random items, random dungeons, random monsters, every play through is going to be a bit different
*Diablo 3 has random events that may or may not be available during a particular play through
*60 levels to level up over 4 different difficulties. Normal, nightmare, hell, inferno. You start at normal and continue through nightmare, hell, and inferno where monsters will be more powerful have different and more special abilities. *read more dangerous
*Every character has around 22-24 skills with 5 different runes to modify the skills and some of them are pretty significant.
*No skill tree in Diablo 3 so try whatever skills and runes you like as you level up

The biggest thing to me is just how satisfying finding something good is. Blizzard has really nailed the loot pinata feeling where they dont overwhelm you with tons of crap but it makes getting a legendary item, set item, rare item feel so good. You could theoretically break a pot and find the best item in the game. It really plays with your compulsions.

Hah this sounds awesome, thanks for the input. I'm definitely sold on this. Any good pre-order deals floating around?

Here's a taste to sate your OT lust:

We're getting closer. I've just got a few things left to write and a couple more graphics to fix up, and I think we should be ready to go.
