It was expensive, but... 4100DPS

DO want.

I still cant settle on a setup at 34 for my monk.

I like warping about but at the same time some stuff wrecks me so being able to shoot punches, kick mobs back and have an almost permanent wind shield if they do get close is quite good.

Maybe I just need to get better at actually playing..

The game is called Diablo. Harry Potter has harry potter in it, etc It's pretty much common sense.

Diablo 2: Lord of Destruction doesn't have Diablo in it.

Even though you're smarter than the rest of us, it doesn't change the fact that the revealing the last boss of a game that is a few days old is a spoiler. You have to assume that the rest of us are simpletons and will dare to imagine that the last boss could be any number of demons/angels/nephalem.

Ugh...I really don't like the UI... The fact that you have to get out of the game, open the AH, go through the terrible menus to find what you want, then you need to manually go to the completed tab to click on "Send to stash" and then you have to resume your game...ugh

really? I thought the auction house UI was pretty good and easy to use. The send to stash button is necessary for when you buy an item and your stash is full, so you need to click something.

It would be nice if you could use the AH while in game with a given character. It would allow the AH tooltips to show character-specific info and stat changes compared to that character's equipment, for example.

Here's my monk after a normal playthrough and up to the scoundrel part of act 1 on NM.

Man, I still haven't found any green/orange items yet :(

Improvements to the auction house UI I'd like:
- better sorting. Why can't i see ending soonest, for example
- have a way to put min and max damage filters or just min when searching for weapons
- just some better sorting and filtering in general and i think it'll be ace

I agree. I'm sure there is some technical or network reason it's not like that

Just let him be. He had all of GAF on his ass at one point and he's still discussing the same thing. At this point, I think he does it for the attention.

Is the offhand voodo doll for the WD extremely weak because 3-5 extra damage doesn't seem like much, I must be understanding it incorrectly or something.

Basically that adds to your weapon damage, which is what for you right now? It should be a pretty good boost. The other options are a shield (no extra dmg, but block), or use a 2-hander.

I find that's insulting, to be honest.

Fortunately for you no one is insulted. However, they are upset that you spoiled a portion of the game. Even though we who were spoiled should have been more intelligent and figured this out for ourselves, you can never assume intelligence.

Umm Lord of Destruction was an expansion and has the bad guys title in the name. The Lord of Destruction being Baal. Probably not the best example.

Soo, I just unlocked the
Enchantress
as a follower. Worth using her over the Templar as a Demon Hunter?

I think you should use her for a while just to get a vibe of her personality and lines and also talk to her by right-click. I did that with all 3. But from a gameplay standpoint I'm assuming templar is the best for DH. Enchantress stays back like scoundrel

After taking my time to soak everything in and talk to every NPC and whatnot my first playthrough, I just want to say that I'm very happy with how this game turned out.

I don't know if I should jump right into Nightmare now or have some fun with other classes. Wizard is super fun so far, but I'm worried about how my favorite skills will fare on higher difficulties. =\

I just checked and wow its a big jump actually. On my character it went from 58 to 80 damage. Not sure how it's calculated but seems like its over 35% damage increase. Thats crazy I was thinking if an attack took 80 hp then it would take 83-85 now with the doll.

Blizzard doing something new and different? Are we talking about the same company?

I haven't played much of D1 or D2 either and even I know that in the game diablo 1 and 2 you kill diablo. What would make that different for Diablo 3?

Not sure what point you're trying to argue. People have expressed offense at others posting spoilers. There are rules against writing spoilers without spoiler tags. They have a spoiler thread. The level of 'spoiling' doesn't bear any effect on the spoiler tag rule in this thread.

Maybe you and others are too cool or clever to care. But that's no excuse. You and others should put spoiler tags, no matter how frivolous the spoiler might seem to you, period.

I am not playing this game as much in one sitting or even playtime since release like I did with D2. Good game though.

So I haven't touched blacksmithing and I don't think I have gotten to gem cutting yet - but which is worth it? I been disenchanting armor to get mats (like teeth).

I don't think you can really compare different class DPS all that well.

Sure, the game says my level 24 Witch Doctor does 170dps, but that doesn't tell the whole story. Soul Harvest is almost always up for me and can result in me more than doubling my DPS, for example.

Not to mention it's not including my pets or any of my DOTS. Its a pure numerical average of your stats, then applied to your skills.

So far the AH is the way to go for gear. That may change at some point though. I'm just putting in a bit of gold when I have extra.

Neither. I wasted so much time and gold leveling up both only to realize the only way to get good gear is to save your gold and take it to the AH.

Ok for people using Monk or any class in general need help figuring this out.

- ring A does +8-10 damage
- ring B has xx dex

What's the minimum amount of dex that I'd need to do end up giving me more than the ring itself? Or rather, like I'd need 50 dex for every +1 damage?

You guys are fucking crazy about 'spoilers'.

You are fucking crazy posting endgame spoilers in an OT topic. TWICE! How ignorant are you? What's so hard about NOT spoiling it? The endboss could've been anything, sure, there was a high chance that it turned out like I now know THANKS to you, YET there was a chance that it could've been anything. And you are even repeating it. Sorry, but you just suck. Stop it now.

Anything, just found my first legendary item:

diabloiii2012-05-18007edpi.png

I have to say that I enjoy the game but there is a lot of stuff I don't like:

- the character models are abysmal. They look like shit. Art and tech wise.
- I still don't like the art very much. There are some nice things here and there and the atmosphere is diablo-esque in a way (mainly because of sound, story and quests) but it could've been so much better
- I don't feel very invested in my character, because I know I can change his skills pretty much anytime. I don't find it too exciting either (Barbarian). I would've far more enjoyed a possiblity to level your skills (I don't think the rune system is a great addition)
- the game feels way too streamlined. It almost feels a bit...shhh...dare I say....casual. :/

It is literally impossible to answer this as it varies based on your Weapon Damage, how much DEX you already have, any other +Damage you have, and so-on.

Neither. I wasted so much time and gold leveling up both only to realize the only way to get good gear is to save your gold and take it to the AH.

But the AH prices seem crazy inflated to me. Maybe it's because I don't earn a lot of gold being only around level 17-ish, but still...how can I afford that shit?

When should I start purchasing from the AH?

Whenever you feel like you need something and if you find the right item + price

But the AH prices seem crazy inflated to me. Maybe it's because I don't earn a lot of gold being only around level 17-ish, but still...how can I afford that shit?

There are "deals" to be found; sometimes you can get lucky and find really good weapons for under 10k and such.

Thanks. I tried to wrap my head around it by buying a ring with high dex to replace my damage only one and I think I ended up losing dps in general; I should've taken note of how much dex it offered in the first place.

Nightmare Act 3 is finally starting to ramp up the challenge significantly. Monk self-healing doesn't help too much when you get dropped in about three seconds.

I'M RAGIIIIIIIIIIIING but I'm still having fun

In hell now on my 51 witch doctor. The unique mobs are insane at this level, I barely put a dent in them (if I can hit them, the ones with the fast mod are almost impossible to hit with skills).

Few questions for those that have been following the game or design philosophy;

1. Is hell designed to be completed by a solo player? Or should I look into creating a well balanced team with a tank, me on support/cc, and two more dpsers?

2. If I were to go farming gear, would it be best to just kill bosses over and over, or should I do act 4 NM and hope for a good rare roll/gather gold to buy stuff off AH.

3. Thinking of doing a monk as an alt, are they good tanks, or are barbarians vastly superior?

4. Are shields viable on Witch Doctor or should I just keep the mojo offhands?

To expand on it, +Damage on Armor/Rings/Amulets are also effected by your stats. Lets say you have a Weapon that deals 40 damage on average, the +8-10 Damage would make that 49 damage on average. To get a comparable bonus from DEX, you would need ~23 DEX. This is assuming you have _0 DEX_, however. If you have 200 DEX, that +8-10 Ring now adds around 27 damage and you'd need to add around 70 DEX instead.

Basically, as Weapon Damage goes up, your stats will do more and Weapon Damage will mean less. It's still not an exact thing, though :/

Sell all the blues you come by. Stack MagFind/XPFind gear, and don't shy away from GoldFind gear either, as far as I'm concerned. I'm always comfortably rolling in around 10k or more per quest, at least in Act 2. Filter the AH to find rares with a max buyout of say, 3k or something, as well as all the other stats you want, and you'll see that even some great pieces of gear are being listed at those strange low prices. You can deck yourself out in full rares for 10-20k easily with a bit of AH playing.
