Just got a guest pass and installing now! So excited! I did not give a shit about this game until the Giantbomb stream today. Game looks awesome and easy enough for someone who has never played a Diable game (or a game like it before).

Can someone write up a small impression list of how the chars differentiate from each other? Still deciding which char to start with. Any chars that seem better/stronger than others?

I don't get it. This game is nothing new. The graphics are horribly outdated. The combat is fairly rinse & repeat? What does everyone see in this stuff. The story is riddled with cheese. :( I will only concede that the scope for customisation is wider then typical but not the widest seen in these types of games.

And it's not like an MMO where you can match your progression against everyone elses that you see because you're fined to you and your friends. :(

Kind of have to agree. I mean, I like it. It's fun. It's Diablo. But part of me wonders, "It took them 10+ years to make this?! Really?!"
 
Just got home from work, opened up my Collector's Edition, installed the game, drooled over the opening cinematic, maxed out the game's settings, and then....

SERVERS DOWN FOR AN HOUR?!

At least it gives me some time to update my 480GTX's drivers and to uninstall some useless stuff...

The trolls are out in full force with the servers being down. When they go back up they'll disappear. Just look at the "Waahhhh I can't play my single player game" troll thread. As soon as the servers are stable that whining will go away.
 
Act I boss spoilers

To the people saying the Butcher was difficult was anyone playing a Wizard? With time warp I actually found him a little too easy. Whenever he was out of eyeshot I threw time warp out and it slowed his hook down and was easy to avoid. Looking forward to facing him in nightmare.

barb = melee tank, no magic
witch doctor = mostly support class
mage = low hp, high dmg
demon hunter = agility based ranged dps
monk - like a paladin

i don't think with doctors will be very good 1 on 1, but every other class should keep up with each other in terms of value
 
I'm sure this has been asked, but how do the CE dyes work. Is one dye good for one piece of equip or does it color all your equipment. Also if you use it on low level stuff can you use it again when you get better gear? thanks

I wasn't planning to play with pets but the Gargantuan is so fucking bad ass. For spells, Firebomb and Acid Cloud are amazing and have basically replaced my Poison Darts and Toads respectively.

Zombie Charger is kind of shit but Spirit Walking into enemies and throwing a rotting zombie at them along with some Acid Clouds is fun. I like the passive 20% damage reduction from poisoned enemies effect so it works nicely. I was using Locust Swarm instead but the mana cost is just too high and zombie is quicker and longer range - they usually die before the swarm has time to spread at this point in Normal mode.

Fire bats. Try them again. They're honestly the best AoE attack besides acid cloud. I'm hitting over 1k+ with fire bats now at level 32 with around 350 damage on my character sheet. Firebomb was kind of slow so I just stuck with splinter poison darts.

Zombie dogs are kind of hit and miss and I'm going through without turning on elective mode, but thus far I've had no problems. My plan is to replace zombie dogs with hex runed with angry chicken asap so I can free up a passive slot. Also gruesome feast doesn't seem to be working, but I've had no reason to switch to something else.

This is the first time I have paid for a game and not been able to actually play the game. Since 3am this morning every time I tried I couldn't connect. Now its Error 33... How could blizzard not know that this game was going to be swamped. I got all my work friends to buy this game and no one can play.

Fk this online only bullshit.

thanks - I guess I should switch to a 2-hand staff in near future then, I don't really see the benefit of the 1-hand staff atm

almost exactly how I play my lvl 17 wizard, but I've switched magic missile for Electrocute (more dps in most situations, even without rune) and I'm looking to replace Diamond Skill with something else (don't like/can't use the skill properly). I'm pretty much relying on Arcane Orb for damage and Frost Nova/Wave of Force for survival right now. The other skills didn't seem all that useful for me so far, without the runes.

Did anyone else think the way the initial WD looks and the way he talks in the story do NOT match? He is all nice asking to help that girl and talking with people. I was expecting him to act evilish but i guess he is a good, nice witch doctor!

Cute, no doubt. I wouldn't exactly say "smoking hot", but very cute.

I will say that she does have excellent other features though. At any rate, grats on the cake and lady time.

These are the same damn errors I was getting during the open beta I really thought things would be different for retail.
