anyone one else lagging like a motherfucler a us servers..... lol no sure if I can kill an enemy.

Aussie here, playing US servers. Lag free all evening, 2nd night in a row. Glorious.

How about that act 1 eh? I love the 'look' of the beginning of Act 2 so far too, beautiful soft style. Ah well, bed time now. My barb and Witch Doctor will have to wait til tomorrow.

Good morning D3GAF, I have a question.
If I upgrade the blacksmith in a friend's game am I upgrading his blacksmith or mine? In other words, are the NPCs "shared"? If so, fuck, I just spent all my gold upgrading his BS.

The Blacksmith you see in any game you enter is your Blacksmith (likewise, the Blacksmith that your friend was seeing was theirs). So, no, your money wasn't wasted. Additionally, your Blacksmith is shared across all your characters.

Aaaaaand as soon as I praise this shitty game, I get d/ced. Fuck my fucking life.

OK, so is anyone else experiencing mild hitching while moving around? It's pretty subtle, I suppose, but it lacks the fluidity I would hope to find in a game like this. It manifests itself as small skips almost akin to HDD access (which shouldn't be the case as it's running on an SSD with 8gb of ram). i7-930 + GTX580 in there as well. Wouldn't expect any performance issues.

I also would LOVE gamepad support to show up at some point as I can't really enjoy the game in my theater setup as is. :\

You have to remember that no matter how awesome your gaming rig is, this game will perform like an MMORPG, and right now, it's performing like an MMORPG on a "filled to capacity" server.

Even in a single player game, it will perform like an MMORPG.

There are channels like General, Hardcore, Looking for group and Trade you can join (even in non-public games) and chat with others in your current server.

I was talking about games not channels (the lack of user created channels kinda sucks too though) And the bartering that made d2 so fun is kinda obsolete now with the ah. Trading items for gold then buying the stuff you want isnt as fun as trading items player to player imo.

I know purists will hate me for asking, but is this playable on a trackpad? MacBook Pro user here and would like to try Diablo a bit...

I'm playing on a Macbook Pro trackpad, it was damn awkward until I realised you could cmd-click in order to right click (this isn't native to macs, normally it's ctrl-click, so its a great addition by Blizzard). Then I just rearranged a few keys and it plays like a dream.

Yeah Inspector has a High Quality AO setting that the normal CP doesn't have. I haven't actually tried it since I imagine the frame hit would probably be a bit too much for my 460. Better cards should give it a shot.

Quality AO still looks super nice.

Should probably avoid High Quality AO unless you've got a 580 or 600 series. I've a got 560ti
and I go from locked 60 FPS to a super unstable frame rate jumping from anywhere 30-60 its super jarring.

Act I took me 8 and half hours

going for the longest completion time record
Yeah, I think I'll have that beat by the time I'm done with Act I. :p

*sigh*

Is it just me or do even the cinematics stutter? >_<
The black soulstone cinematic that was revealed before the game was released look and ran better as a bloody youtube clip than this.
Odd, they've been smooth as silk for me and my setup is really getting on.

Yes, I have this as well. The first night (Monday @ 23:40 > 03:00 UK time) it was as smooth as if I were playing it offline (it felt a lot more responsive than D2), but any subsequent time I've played it's definitely seemed less responsive - going to assume it's teething issues dealing with the load.

New picture of my melee demon hunter for the next page:

Just to add to AppleSmack that when you identify stuff it won't happen instantly. You'll have a progress bar above your character (just like when using the town portal).

First time I tried to right click on a yellow item in the beta I thought nothing happened and just clicked on something else that canceled the idenfitication.

So what's the point of the identification process anyways? Why hide an item when it's free to identify anyways?

One thing, may be obvious if it is there but I haven't seen it.

Are there stats? Like time spent, monsters slain, all that kind of stuff?

Yey!

Amazon have delivered me my evil package. Ok it's just the standard version of the game, but I like the box a lot. The Boxart itself is very nice and I'm a sucker for the velcro heh.

Shame I have to go back to work, but I'll be Wizard'ing it up in no time tonight!

I'm playing 100% tank with tons of stuns and regen now. Switched it up from mass dps

It's a little tricky for me because I'm running the game on a laptop (GeForce GT 230M, 4GB of RAM, dual-core 2.1 Ghz processor) and sometimes it's hard to tell if minor slowdown is happening because of my system or because of the "MMOness" of the game.

That extra step of excitement to see the stats. I guess.

That and to be able to sell "hidden" items on the AH too apparently. Some people like to gamble lol.

The problem I have with that is that even the seller doesn't know what he's selling lol. A casino would not last very long doing that haha.

Yes.

It's a very known issue with the game.

The game also occasionally feels like it drops to 30fps, even though the frame counter still says 60. Playing in Fullscreen, rather than window/full window helps a bit.

I'm into Act I for about that too and I'm still not done with it, lol. I think I'm close to Act 2 though. I'm surprised at how much content there is in Act I past the beta stuff.

So far I'm loving the game. Only played the wizard so far, got him up to lvl 12 this morning before heading off to work. I'm liking the wizard and I'm going to continue taking him all the way through normal, but I'm looking forward to trying the barbarian next. Something a little more visceral about going nose to nose with the enemy hordes and sending their dead corpses flying through the air.

The game sure was laggy last night though. I got dropped a few times when the latency would shoot up and had occasional rollback and syncing errors. And then there was that outage around 11 PM. And I was playing solo the whole time too. I hope they get the server issues ironed out, because right now it's the only thing detracting from the game. But it's a BIG negative and it needs to be fixed.

Man last night was lack luster. All I did was beta content. This happened to be the worst week for D3 to launch for me. Maybe I should Ignore my other resposibilities >.> so tempting.

Yeah I imagine it hits pretty hard.

And hmm... I haven't installed the most recent Nvidia beta drivers. Gonna give that a shot and see if there are any improvements. Though the game already runs pretty nicely for me.

Expected my copy for friday, got it a couple hours ago. Currently installing.
Ah, so the rest of Europe still does use PEGI even when the BBFC step in here (The UK is rated 15)!

Just installing now, the guitar music, ah, brings back memories. Damn having to work, this afternoon is going to drag...

When I started the game I got had a huge drop which felt like 15-20fps when the goons burst through the flaming barricade outside New Tristam. I was 100% sure it was the flame effect because it was fine when I went back into town. It then manifested once again when I went back out.

Turns out it was locked at 60.

Feels fine now at around 200ms ping in Australia.

So any Wizard find a good off hand to use? All I've been able to use is shields. Not that this is a bad thing, just curious if anyone got a good off hand for dps.

You already finished so I dunno if it applies, but if you're willing to sacrifice a bit of defence; books seem to give the highest boost to int.

That depends on finding a good book though

Don't forget we're moving to PEGI for games real soon now too, but I guess the new regulations haven't taken effect yet hence the need for a BBFC cert.

Seems like Asia Server is crapping out too. Was playing coop and both of us lagged for about 5 minutes, we decided to log back in and got stuck in the queuing screen.

Been playing for about 8 hours today on and off between a Monk and a WD. Using the wiimote as my mouse and hotkey made all the clicking bearable for one long D3 session.

Are you on beta drivers for Nvidia? The 3xx revision ones, If so, that may be it, I had the same problem yesterday, rolled back to WHQL marked ones, and it fixed the problem.

Also, turn off the frame limiter if you have vsync on.

Oh yeah, that too. So people can sell gambles. Gotta fuel that gambling addiction! :x
