Level 55. My dad called me earlier today said he found a collectors edition and bought it for me.
yea-fuck-yea.gif

So happy.

Having a blast but I do have a couple questions and issues.

1) Does your follower have any negatives, like does he absorb some of your exp?

2) Are there secret doors? I've found things like levers that open doors but are there any truly secret doors I should be searching for?

3) When I beat the story on Normal and unlock hard difficulty can my new characters start at that difficulty or will they just get destroyed?

4) Sometime on logging in my character doesn't show in-game. I can run around, collect loot ect but i can't see him. Teleporting around will sometimes fix this other times I have to shutdown and reboot several times. Any ideas or just early bugs.

1. Nope
2. Not that I have found but who knows?!
3. You are meant to take your character through progressively higher difficulties. The only reason to start over is to try out another class or to try Hardcore mode
4. No idea, sorry

Is there some way to hide your headgear like in WoW?

Yeah, vanishing dye

so how's the story of the game? I'm interested with the game and the hype is getting to me, but I'm really not a multiplayer kind of guy, I just can't see myself playing this for months or years because well there's a lot other games that I want to play too. most likely I'll just play the single player for the story and beat it, probably try different classes etc, but not gonna replay the game on higher difficulty etc.

is the game worth it if I don't plan of playing multiplayer?

The banter between you, guests and followers are awesome. Esp. w/ the scoundrel. I've taken it up to myself to finish the first run solo so I don't miss much of it.

1 - ir it is like DII than, no. Actually he even helps if they have MF gear adding to your magic find.

2 - I guess not. There is a secret stage though, like the cow level but more colorfull.

3 - he will be destroyed.

4- online only DRM bliss

Same. Only thing I've found better than hungering arrow is Evasive fire. The bolas take too long to explode, the snaring shit is just useless. The bombs just feel weird.

Bolas do suck as a primary skill, but by using elective mode and selecting them as a secondary attack, they are awesome for groups of enemies.

But I'm only level 15 so I don't know much about the higher level skills.

I don't know how useful this Barbarian build really is, but I've been using it in Nightmare, particularly in groups: http://us.battle.net/d3/en/calculator/barbarian#aeXYkg!bYX!aaaZbb

It's essentially a hyper control build. Loads of tankiness and regen, but you also get super stuns. You build up fury with every ability and unload it on Seismic Shock stuns. On single target mobs, I can pretty much just stunlock forever. This works on stun immune bosses as well, and when fury generation is high enough I can essentially keep a boss (like the one at the end of the bridge in Act III), stunlocked for the entire fight. It's pretty fun.

I've been disappointed by every new Demon Hunter primary skill I get in that they all suck compared to Hungering Arrow.

Im sure using entagling shot and the skill that make you deal 15% more damage to slowed can be combined well with something like multishot

I start the launcher to play the game and it just hangs there, then says "Can't update tools" or something like that, how do I fix this? It's been doing that since yesterday.

I tried looking in the forums but apparently they are down.

So far, I've really only found grenades useful when clearing out "swarming critter mobs that come out of nowhere in tight spaces" like spiderlings. They're actually preferably there as you won't be hitting these guys from a distance and they provide a nice AOE attack.

That Passive skill is effectively a must for any Entangling Shot build. I really wouldn't bother with it, otherwise.

I'm going to be torn developing any DH build that doesn't feature Hungering Shot, Rapid Fire, Vault and Preparation in some form or fashion.

My group just got to Hell. I found three yellows in a row my Monk could use. I'm ready.

Anyone else playing Monk enjoy being tough as shit? I may not out dps my Barbarian friend, but I sure as hell save his ass all the time and tank shit like no ones business.

I like the AH better than posting on a forum trying to set up a trade or estimating the value of things in SOJs.

The AH is convenient and much faster (when it's not broken), but it removes some of the social aspect of trading. I always used the trade channels and trading games and I enjoyed the process of asking random people to trade, throwing out everything I had available, looking at what he had and then negotiating the trade.

Actually I'm qutie sad the best thing I've found for nightmare mode is... hungering arrow and impale. ...the first two default skills. So lame.

So many other attacks take too much hatred, or do something stupid. Doesn't seem like they tried to make the attacks very different. Not sure if it's just Demon Hunger... or that's how people feel about all the classes.

And a bonus of playing the monk is that he is as cool as Chuck Norris

That's how I felt about the DH when I did a run in the open beta. Too many minor variations on "shoot arrow" across the entire skillset, seemed like the least interesting class.

Four player Diablo 3 really turns it up to 11.

Every night my 3 friends and I go at it. Seeing everyone fight and having all these attacks and skills go off is fucking amazing. It's always a light show. I don't know if I can go back to playing solo. Having our own loot and giving it to someone who needs it is awesome. We each play a different character.

The item swapping is probably the best part. I've gotten so many items from friends and they from me. Keeps us sharp.

According to the guide, there is no +XP when grouping with people.

On my alt Wizard I find I'm leveling faster solo than with a group. It's just harder in the item department since there is zero swapping.

I used the startling primary and secondary on my Monk all through Normal. Fists of Thunder with the teleport rune is just so damn useful. And the roundhouse kick was always a must in case I got surrounded and overwhelmed. Knicks everything back so I can reposition.

I think the bolas (with the first rune that increases the blast radius) are pretty good, personally. The single-target damage may not be amazing, but stick them in a horde of enemies and the damage really piles up.

Mine used to stutter w/ AA on, and V-Sync on, then I turned off V-Sync, it helped, but then started doing it again. Then I turned on the Letterbox option, and this stopped the stuttering.

So V-Sync, AA, and Letterbox on stopped stuttering for me.
Gonna try this when I get home.

Yesterday I took someone's suggestion to reduce the framerate cap to 30 and turn on vsync. That seemed to help a lot; there's still some minor stuttering occasionally, but nowhere near as bad as before.

I just wish Blizzard would acknowledge the issue. My machine should easily handle the game, and I'd like to have 60fps without stuttering.

I'll have to try Letterbox when I get home.
No way in hell I'm going to lock it up at 30 FPS when my PC is perfectly capable of destroying this game. Blizzard should fix it already.

I am playing a barbarian in a duo with a monk friend in NM act 2 and he is consistently much more survivable than me. A lot of it seems to be the ~50% dodge that he has from his dexterity as well as the big heals which are still effective at this point. I've heard that the heals become much less effective late game because they don't scale well, but at this point it's about a 50% heal or more.

In fairness I haven't been building towards tankiness as much as I could, but it seems like he doesn't have to make that kind of decision. I kind of wish I had gone the monk route. His attacks look cooler and he seems to be generally more effective without having to play in a really gimmicky way.

This game... sigh, it's.............glorious. I'm kind of at a loss for words, it's just SO great and I know I'll be playing it for years. Started Act III and am loving every second with my fem baba.

It's way cheaper. Sell all your unused gems, buy the biggest ones you can afford on AH. Most cost effective way of going about it.

I wonder how long till the masses become savvy to this. Till then I'm stocking up!

Same thing with the mats (at least for normal diff). They're like 25-30 gold each for subtle essence and fallen tooth.

That's not necessarily indicative of more XP one way or the other. Could be due to a couple of factors - the most of which I would attribute to less HP monsters = killing faster.
