Reroll for the Scythe, it shouldn't take more than an hour or two running bounties.

Yeah I've been doing that as I actually have two scythe so I can reroll one at will. Rolled it over two dozen times already, haven't gotten an ancient version yet. Also been upgrading rare scythes too trying to get one. This is why I don't gamble in real life, lol.

So I just picked up reaper of souls.

I've played through vanilla diablo 3 a few times, but I'm not really sure what's different now. What should I be doing with a brand new character?

Shiiiiiiet man you're in for a treat. I can't possibly list all the changes from vanilla D3 to present day RoS D3, but, in a nutshell:
- there's a 5th act for you to explore.
- you can now level your character to lvl 70 instead of 60, and there's a crusader class that comes with the expansion. You can also buy the necromancer class separately.
- there's an Adventure mode where you'll be playing most of the time. Imagine being able to go to every zone in every act whenever you want, no scenario, randomly-generated dungeons that give you legendary upgradable gems with special powers and a special currency that you can gamble for a fairly high chance of getting legendary items...
- this is arguably the single biggest "fun enhancer" with Adventure mode, but the looting system is infinitely better than it used to be: you almost always get items your class can use, and they almost always roll your main stat (instead of, say, rolling dexterity if you're a wizard or intelligence if you're a barbarian). Also, legendaries drop much more often than before. Speaking of legendaries...
- legendaries and set items are now nearly always way better than rare and magical items. Also, they have special attributes that give you huge bonuses or alter your skills in a way that makes them much more powerful. In addition, you have a chance of rolling ancient legendaries (legendaries with even better stat rolls) and primal ancient legendaries (ancient legendaries with max stat rolls).
- there's now an item called Kanai's Cube where you can, among other things, extract legendary powers to use them as permanent passives, upgrade rare items to legendary items, and convert crafting materials to other crafting mats
- many skills have been reworked many times. Some of them have even been replaced with new ones.

I'm forgetting a lot of things to be sure, but this is off the top of my head.

Select whichever class looks fun to you (knowing that some have a higher potential than others currently) and level him/her by playing straight from Act 5 once (finish the campaign, basically), and then switch to Adventure mode and never look back.

Awesome thanks guys.

I rolled a seasonal Crusader and went straight to adventure mode, it seems pretty cool, but it's a little easy right now. I suppose I should go through the main game once then hit adventure up on hard.

Quick clarification: In adventure mode, do I not have to worry about what act I choose? Is it all the same difficulty?

I was basically doing the stuff in act 1 then immediately jumped to act 4, but the difficulty didn't change.

First, as the previous poster said: go for hard difficulty, maybe even expert. You can change the difficulty (almost) on the fly. You never have to restart your game session to lower the difficulty (just press escape and look to the right), but in most cases you can't go up without exiting and re-entering the game. Although, maybe you can do that on pre-torment difficulty levels. Can't remember.

Second, difficulty is dynamic. If you're level 23, mobs will be lvl 23 no matter where you go. Unless you join a multiplayer game where the party leader is a different level than you. But in single player, only the difficulty level (e.g. normal, hard, expert, master or Torment 1 to 13) determines how hard mobs hit and how much HP they have.

The WW set 4pc bonus should be 8 seconds. It might open up a build with IK and rend.

They can buff and nerf Wizard all they want. Archon will still dominate because the sets are all general bonuses and because of the Swami and Fazula. Change one of those or it will still be a race between which class benefits from the Archon burst best.

Ahh sounds like my luck with The Compass Rose. I had Ancient Trag in most slots, 3 Gifts, etc. before my 1st Compass Rose dropped this season. Enjoy blood builds a lot, but the high risk can be frustrating to put it mildly.

Wastes got a DR buff too (50% DR lasts 50 sec after WW)

Season 12 hype!!

Where are you seeing that? I am seeing 3 seconds. I read it as the standard 4pc extended some so WW builds can pop other skills without risking getting one-shot.

Natalya FoK looks pretty viable now.

Your AD?

Basically, the cube lets you sacrifice any legendary (that has a special legendary effect) in exchange for its power, which then gets added to you collection of legendary powers. You can then swap it around with other legendary powers you own in your collection. The only restriction to this is that you can only have 3 powers active at the same time: one must come from a weapon or off-hand, one must be from an armor piece, and one must come from a ring or amulet power. Also, you can't stack the powers from your gear and from your cube. You can't, say, wear a Ring of Royal Grandeur (-1 item requirement for set bonuses, so you only need 5 pieces of a set to get the 6-piece set bonus) AND have its effect in the cube at the same time. Well, you can, but it won't stack. You won't magically get a -2 item requirement. You'll only get the effect once (from your cube, I assume, since cubed powers always operate at their maximum potency).

sorry i meant 3 sec typed 50 twice. brain fart lol

I was trying to figure out what build Blizz could have in mind for that lol.

Story mode will be dead. Adventure mode for rifting and GRs will be full at certain difficulties. There are far too many difficulties IMO.

That is still the case, but it's highly dependent on your character level, difficulty level and mode. If you're a random level like 43 and doing campaign mode on normal difficulty, you're not gonna have any luck. On the other hand, a lvl 70 character doing T13 bounties will have no problem finding a game whatsoever :p.

What were your settings?

[EDIT] Also, are you on the EU server? I can invite you to the GAF clan if you want.

in addition to what Kilrogg posted and Boogalogist linked I'd add that the game in my mind is two very different things.

The Story mode is fun to play through with a character at any difficulty just to see the flow of the game (I don't think the story is that great or that deep, but it is fun and I've run through it a couple times)

The Adventure mode is a digital skinner box that is continually tweaked.
- Max level is only the beginning of the game
- Each character has Set builds that work together in ways that encourage different types of play styles

for me the game becomes about finding a mix of how I like to play, how "ideal" you can make a build and then how far you can push against increasing difficulty (that you have total control over).

If you need a boost, I can help on US or EU server - just as many have helped me.

That was supposed to be witch doctor but phone sabotage me.

Sounds like this is a good way to recycle trash legendaries. I don't think I have played Diablo since the expansion, which was good. I don't have time to grind but if I can play Dota 2, I can play some Diablo.

Yeah, I'm doing story on expert, and I'm only level 17. I guess everyone is done with that, but I was hoping the idea of a "seasonal" hero would mean there were a few still doing the beginner stuff.

My BNET ID is Griddlelol#1349 on EU server. I don't think I want a boost, I'd like to go through and learn my class and the game again because I pretty much forgot everything about it.

The thing is, seasons tend to be frontloaded, and people either play with their clans, their friends or in public games from the get-go since leveling is much faster in group. It's fast in general, really, so now that we're a month into the season, there aren't many people playing at level 17 anymore, and they either level quite fast on their own or get powerleveled by whoever in their friendslist is already doing endgame stuff.

Fair enough. Probably a good way to go about it.

I guess nobody in here has time to talk about new player/pre-farming stuff, hahaha. Ah well.

After playing with a Necromancer up to level 70 and strengthening the dude so that he can withstand Torment 1 (which is already an achievement for a rather casual player like me, hahaha), I've decided to go back and tried out different classes. Here's my impression from fiddling with them somewhat here and there:

1. Demon Hunter = pretty boring at the beginning to be honest but once I unlocked stuff like Sentry Turret it's been pretty fun.

2. Crusader = great looking character at the very least, still haven't found my groove yet, still early. I am usually a range kinda guy so it's a new experience playing a tank like this. Her melee attack is boring-looking... at least not until I use Smite, so much fun with all the Holy chaining thing, hahaha.

3. Monk = Hooooooly shiiiit this class is awesome. I don't usually do melee class in RPGs but goddamn, the movement is so fluid and the spectacles are so flashy! I think this is the next class I am planning to invest my serious time into. I only intended to try it but before I know it I levelled it up to 30 already, hahaha. Think I am gonna restart tho and choose the Monk dude instead of the Monk lady. Anyways, any thoughts about Monk? Is this class viable for end-game content?

4. Wizard = Flashy stuff, still early but from what I tried I think this is a class that I can grow to like given enough time.

Haven't tried Barbarian and Witch Doctor yet.

I don't think anyone is against talking about new player stuff, its just that there are so many ways to play each of the archetypes in the pre-70 game that each persons' game will be very different depending on what random legendary they find.

for each of the classes you mention there are multiple sets that you can collect and build - each set plays differently, and its worth playing as many as you can - it helps figure out how you like to play.

so, not only does each character play differently depending on what you find, they again play differently depending on the set and build you end up using.

As for End game - there really isn't a specific end to the game.

- for some its playing to level 70
- for some its finishing the story
- there is a "seasonal" journey that many play until you obtain cosmetic items and then stop;
- for others it is the ability to run torment 13 with others in public rifts
- another end game option are Greater Rifts that don't end, they just keep getting more punishing.

each character has a viable end game builds - just some progress higher than others.

your question - the monk, it looks like the monk will have great options for the next season and will be able to push very high levels of greater rifts solo.

I guess nobody in here has time to talk about new player/pre-farming stuff, hahaha. Ah well.

I find that this thread has pretty low activity. Eventhough I play regularly on the US server, I don't see anyone on GAF guild online at the times I play. Can't complain though. I'm on the US server and play at around 6 am.

Just an update, I have managed to unlock GR70. Gonna try to solo it today. Time to unlock them Primals!

Currently, I'm not sure what items to gamble for....

How do Nephalim rifts work? I don't really understand how to open them...

First you need to be playing in Adventure mode, from there you just go to the Nephalem Obelisk in town, it's always by Orek his side, a blue glowing guy. Regular rifts are opened any time from there, simply select them and hit it. Greater Rifts you will need keys for, those drop from the rift guardian in the regular rifts. And that about covers it.

Is there a way to change servers/realms?
I noticed I'm in the Americas, and I am only find brazilian players and there are a few only.

I just discovered this after searching for games and there are ZERO persons playing rifts or GR an T13? Imposible.

I need to move to USA servers, can this be done?

You can switch between 3 big regions at the launcher.

The Americas - For players in the US, Canada, Latin America, Australia, New Zealand, and Southeast Asia.
Europe - For players in the European Union, Eastern Europe, Russia, Africa, and Middle Eastern countries such as Israel and the United Arab Emirates.
Asia - For players in South Korea and the regions of Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macau.

There seem to be sub regions like Brazil with their own servers. Maybe this link info still works.

http://www.diablofans.com/forums/diablo-iii-general-forums/diablo-iii-general-discussion/127258-dedicated-d3-servers#c6

You say I can change at the launcher, do you mean the blizzard App? I can't find the option to change region...
I'll post in blizzard forums.

When you run Battlenet there is a region option right above the play button on the Diablo 3 page. Your region should be fine though. I think you need to disable the auto-selecting that puts you in the Brazil subregion in the Americas.

I started playing a Necro last sunday.

Wanted to level it nice 'n slow to get a grip on the new skills.
I have to say I'm really impressed with how the Necro plays.
The skills work really well together. Even at level 10 it felt as if there was a synergy between the various skills.

Been lvl capped for a while and already got my Rathma set together.
Was also super lucky with rare upgrades and got my Jesseth shield and scythe on the first try.

Just looking for Tasker and Theo, the two new necro rings and Reilena's.
After that it's just about getting better versions of what I've already got.
The power is pretty insane, I'm finishing lvl 45 GR's at paragon 60 and 0 gems XD

wishes it were bannable to say mean things about Marvel
So last night with my necromancer I saved my Rathma pet build (which I love) and suited up in the Inarius Set. I actually had enough gear in the stash to put together a decent build, going for Bone Scythe / Bone Armor / Lance petless build. It plays...okay, can handle T13 pretty easily, but it's just not as engaging or fun to me as the Skely army is.

Next I tried Trang's, the build that is topping all of the leaderboards. I have to say that while it may be strong at dropping elites, I really don't care much for this build at all. It plays like a periodic burst machine that can't do much at all when things are cooling down, and I really just dislike playing it. It might be powerful but I don't find it fun at all.

I'd like to try to piece together some kind of bone+poison build, need to research that a bit more. Ended up going back to my Rathma build and smiling away while I waltzed over a few GR76's. :)

I'm having trouble understanding the damage indicators in-game.
The commas and letters are confusing me.
Sometimes I hit crits at 5200M, no commas so I understand this is 5.2 billion damage.
Sometimes it says 84,33M, this are two decimals? So the damage was 84 million 330K?
The commas go crazy sometimes... I crit and it showed 320,450,830M... WTF is this? These can't be decimals because there are two commas and 3 digits after each coma, so I hit for 320 trillion? What the....

It's so confusing.

So, can anyone help me with this issue?

I am trying to complete the seasonal journey, and I have 1 last thing to do - I need to give a weapon without a gem socket, a socket, by using the enchanter.

I have checked to see if it is possible, by clicking the ? when at the enchanter, but it NEVER happens. It's insane, I must have tried 60+ times. It's burning through all my gold and crafting material!
