Cheney says he may have to have heart transplant

WASHINGTON – Former Vice President Dick Cheney says he believes he'll have to make a decision on whether to have a heart transplant given his medical history.
Cheney tells NBC in an interview that he's getting by now on a battery-powered heart pump, which makes it "awkward to walk around." He also says he hasn't made a decision yet on a transplant, but adds that "the technology is getting better and better."
Cheney tells the network in an interview, "I'll have to make a decision at some point whether I want to go for a transplant."
On another matter, Cheney complimented President Barack Obama on his handling of the Tucson shooting rampage. Cheney says, "I'm not an Obama supporter by nature, but I thought it was one of his better efforts."
Cheney, 69, suffered a heart attack last year, his fifth since the age of 37. He had bypass surgery in 1988, as well as two subsequent angioplasties to clear narrowed coronary arteries.
In 2001, he had a special pacemaker implanted in his chest. In addition, doctors in 2008 restored a normal rhythm to his heart with an electric shock. That was the second time in less than a year that he had experienced and been treated for an atrial fibrillation, an abnormal rhythm involving the upper chambers of the heart.

I have zero sympathy for this man. May his last days be full of regret.

This story doesn't mention it, but I find his current situation freaky . . . he has no pulse. The current heart pump generates a continuous flow so he doesn't have a traditional pulse.

He has to carry a warning with him that says that just because you can't feel a pulse, that doesn't mean he is dead.

The man keeps defying death. Also a heart transplant on a multiple heart attack victim who is 69? Yay for $$$.

Finally, a change of heart.

On a serious note, even though I believe Cheney to be behind some of the worst policy decisions during the Bush admi nistration, I still hope he recovers. He is still somebody's loved one.

Hitler was loved too.
Probably even more tbh

At this point, Cheney is basically a real-life Mr. Burns.

What's there to joke about with somebody with a serious health problem?
Gee I don't know. How could there be a funny about a heart of a guy directly responsible for a hundred thousand plus deaths? How could there be a joke there?

No wonder there are so few comedians on the right.

I dont think we should be wasting hearts healthy enough for transplants on a 69 year old man whose name is Dick Cheney.

Also just noticed that getting rid of the smilies got rid of my greasemonkey plug in for to create spoiler tags. Well that the end of me covering spoilers. Sorry everybody.

Yeah, seriously. Shouldn't his name be at the bottom of the list since he's a high risk? Money ftw.

Nice to see the political left and Democrats not being hypocrites about the whole "we've got to raise the tone of political rhetoric and make it less hateful" thing they've been so "concerned" about since the tragic shooting.

Let's see...

Wishing for a man's death? Check.

Comparison to Hitler? Check.

Calling him a "mass murderer?" Check.

Nope. Not being hypocrites at all.

Yes, because we all have our political affiliations CLEARLY marked on our usernames and avatars.

Yeah, it's totally not like most of those comparisons aren't valid. The man basically screwed the country over, and feels that people have wronged HIM.

So, you think a bunch of Republicans and right-wingers are hoping for Vice President Cheney's death, comparing him to Hitler, and calling him a mass murderer?

That's a pretty big stretch, dood. That's like fucking Stretch Armstrong stretching there.

Nope. Not being hypocrites at all.

Agitated for two needless wars of which he benefited immensely financially and politically, yet where hundreds of thousands of people died or lives were otherwise ruined? Check.

Equivocating party leadership and random forum posters on GAF? Check.

This is Dick Cheney we're talking about here

Unless you're going to argue Dick Cheney is somehow a respectable good natured individual, because if you are, then lol

Seems you're the only one spreading rhetoric and lumping people together, nice going

political left and Democrats

Or

Republicans and right-wingers

Damn so simple.
