Did Mark Cerny REVEAL the SHAPE of the PlayStation 5 Console AND BACKWARDS COMPATIBILITY in the most SUBTLE way possible? (Visual Proof ITT!!!)

Thanks because many people here in france (most of them microsoft's Fanboy ) are saying that only 100 games will be avalaible and that the PS4's BC is not fully done.
Well you can set them straight now! Lol

Sony's fault, they left that wrong info on their blog for days, and all the idiotic news sites copied it, then all the people repeat it. Making a blunder like that, it's like the corona virus. Spreads like wildfire, difficult to cure

Don't wanna waste my time with them ;)

Yep Sony missed their communication.

Do you guys think Cerny actually ever watched The Matrix? I just can't picture it.

But then again they used the codenames Neo and Morpheus last gen...

I wonder if the console is designed to transform, ala Optimus Prime, whenever the BOOST CLOCK hits full speed. That would be cool if it could morph into the baby from Death Stranding or something

People need to give it up. I'm not saying that they won't have ps1, ps2 and ps3 games on ps5 in some capacity just not natively. I feel like they will start adding games from previous generations periodically. Hell it's not even 100% confirmed that all PS4 games can play on PS5.

Actually it's probably going to look more like this based on some older patents:

I dont get what all the hullabaloo is really... ive bern paying more attention to the corona virus and see all the rage threads about teraflops and cpu speeds.. lol.

maybe because everyone is on edge, but who gives a shit about the specs at this point.

i really have no fuck idea why sony hasnt shown the design though, it must not be done.

Personally I'm using it as an outlet to balance the thoughts of the world burning around us.

im really intrigued is when he talked about how the engineers created the SPU's to power the audio engine, is that means they can do the same to emulate the ps3? or im wrong or dreaming :D

I leave for a week and a half and this place is almost worse.

Room for those does not equate to visual proof it's a thing, fam. Don't get your hopes up like that.

Possible? Sure, maybe. But also not terribly likely.

Now make one half black and the other white a la Dualsense and I believe this one
If the controller is white, the system will be white too.

Of course, that assumes the controller Sony showed is the standard one that comes with the system. You never know. Maybe the main one is black but they showed different models with different colours.

HOLY MOLY! IS THAT WHY CERNY CHOSE VARIABLE FREQUENCY!?
ZkF7eai.png

Nope, that's bullshit. Variable frequency was chosen to keep the processor running at an "acceptable" temperature within a case that will most certainly be inadequate for that kind of APU.

Emulation has nothing to do with variable frequencies. In fact, for PS4 "emulation", the simplest way to do so would be to run those games inside virtual machines (with a very slim PS4 OS inside them), taking advantage of the PS5 hardware and improving gmes while doing so. The most stupid way to go would be to emulate x86 inside an x86 machine (which is what Cerny implies) because it would slow the whole process down and would show that their APIs for PS4 weren't scalable (a very stupid decission if you ask me).

If they want to emulate PS3, PS2 and PS1, they have to use the CPU at max frequency (for JIT compilation at an acceptable performance) and kind of turn down the GPU part of the APU so it doesn't overheat., and since those systems didn't have as much graphic power as PS5 would have, they would look just fine...just don't expect them to look like they look and play on PC emulators (which can run GT4 in 1080p and beyond).

Maybe, as @Grinchy and @Neur4lN01s3 have suggested, it's the shape of the motherboard. If that's true, then perhaps the unused space is where the...water block of the cooling system will be located. One can dream of such a cool (no pun intended) cooling solution, right? Hehehe.

People saying it will kill PSnow... not really. They can concentrate that being there cloud service and the console backwards compatibility being just that....

Xbox has BC and cloud and they do better on both fronts than Playstation atm

The PS4 was an ugly turd and by far the worst looking Playstation console. Hope they do better this time.

Theres nothing worse that the PS3 super slim console. Even from 20 feet away it looked like fake Chinese made up system. I dont know what they were smoking at that meeting but that is one thing a major company could not allow itself.

I was hopeful for them to add PS and PS2 support, that slide had room to add them below, still hopeful....
They have no reason to not add them. The APU is capable and the software is too. Heck, there are already very good open source PS1 and PS2 emulators out there (namely PCSX and PCSX2) so they don't even need to write one. Just pick the code and compile it on their own OS.

It's not a unique shape but it's expected from Sony, they go for the traditional look.
I would love to see BC on the ps5.

The only reason I want this so I can fire up Folklore and play it again. If this doesn't pan out a cheap ps3 might be in my future.
