So this is how Nintendo fans act when they get moderately competent hardware lol. Not going to lie Nintendo fans have become a little insufferable, they can see no wrong in the company and will cheerlead like no other. Personally I'm very dissapointed in Sony and am considering moving to PC and I can admit their mistakes but goodluck finding any Nintendo fans being reasonable or impartial.

Nintendo is doing well but taking over the homeconsole market...what? They have the handheld market in their grip which they can leverage somewhat as a homeconsole but it's definitely not what it's primary strength is.

True but that's a dying breed. Steam went from some niche 1% of the PS2 userbase store to having more monthly active users than PS4 and PS5 combined. Steam and PC gaming is the biggest platform (not counting mobile) now and continues to grow while the console user has stopped growing because kids play on phones and tablets and the ones really into games move to PC. So if kids can handle a PC I'm sure most people are fine and that's exactly how steam grew into the behemoth it is now, PC is not some mysterious esoteric thing if kids can handle it just fine.

You are mixing Steam growth with PC growth - it's not the same things. Steam keeps converting PC userbase into their own ecosystem - it doesn't mean that PC gaming get more users. It s.just existing users go onto platform. And yes, PC gaming historically had a huge number of users those don't pay much though.

The future is the present: mobile gaming and second to that PC. Consoles are not attracting new users like they used to, because why would they when a kid has all he needs as soon as his parents buy him a tablet.

PC doesn't show real growth.
Just because Steam numbers now counting tens of millions Chinese (who were already on PC, just not on Steam) doesn't mean that it get better ground in let's say western countries.

The console wars only exists in people's heads. So only you can decide who won.

The manufacturers aren't playing the console wars. They are running businesses.

They have different metrics they are trying to achieve quarterly, along with long term and short term goals. A lot of the stuff talked about on this board isn't what they are trying to achieve.

Although this forum has hard core gamers, they are marketing for the whole gaming spectrum. It's starting to look like Sony and Microsoft are pivoting strategy away from what ticks the box for success for most people on this site.

Personally I think both companies are moving towards gaming becoming a service, not a physical product. I'm guessing the next gen will be the last for physical hardware, like it or not.

Let's see if the market agrees.

Nah PC gaming is still growing in users there was a thread about this a bit ago here on Gaf. It was from the same analyst who reported console growth stagnated.
